⚡ 💕 / 🌶 🌞 This is a Summer festival party song. "Matsuri Da!" (It's a festival!) It's been just about a year since the single and this music video were released. I wasn't aware of him before this collaboration, but F.HERO is a well known rapper in Thailand. His rap was all in Thai. The lyrics in the rap section use Som Tam (spicy Thai papaya salad) as a metaphor for life. It's spicy and sweet, but you have to crush everything in a mortar to bring out the flavor. This one was filmed at Yokohama Arena on the second of two nights, so everyone knew to bring a towel to wave, or to get one from the merch stand before the show started.

Great reaction. They formed in 2010 around Su with her vocal talents and stage presence as a sub-unit of a Japanese Idol group with absolutely zero expectations or monetary backing from their agency - they thought the producer and his idea to fuse metal with Jpop style vocals was mad. They got a lot more attention than was ever expected, so when it was time for Su to leave the Idol group in 2013 (it had a school theme and was for girls aged 10 to 15) the unprecedented decision was made for BABYMETAL to separate from the Idol group with her and to become a band in their own right. The Kami Band were phased in to support them in live shows starting in October 2012 to see if it could work. They played the encores in a couple of shows and played at festivals through 2013. By early 2014 the transition from Idol group to independent band was completed and the Kami Band has been with them in all live shows ever since. The first album had singles they had released from 2011 to 2014 plus some new songs and they started touring outside of Japan and Asia for the first time, building up a big following wherever they went. They have done world tours every year since then, gradually getting bigger and going to more places each time and they are now the most successful Japanese band outside of Japan of all time - by a long way. Megitsune (official video or live at Budokan), Headbanger live at Legend 1997, Ijime, Dame Zettai live at Sonisphere in the UK 2014 (their first appearance at a major event outside of Asia - as virtual unknowns who didn't speak English they opened the main stage on the Saturday in front of over 50,000 potentially hostile UK metalheads). As you are a rapper a newer song - BxMxC (fan cam live in Bruxelles - that's Brussels in Belgium for the English speakers).

They've performed this song with an all American Kami Band, but this show had "The Kamis From the East", all of whom are Japanese. For this Yokohama Arena concert (June 29th, 2019) the band members were Leda Cygnus, ISAO, BOH and Hideki Aoyama.

Suzuka Nakamoto was chosen for this role of heading up BABYMETAL because of her strong yet soft voice! The music is great but the video's just add so much to the visuals of BABYMETAL. Moa and Su and the advengers Sayashi, Fujihira and Kano always have so much fun entertaining the crowd, it's AWESOME!

To catch you up. This song is about a spicy papaya Thai salad (Som Tom), written as a fun summer song. The rapper is F.Hero is Thai, recruited by Kobametal (Babymetal's producer). F.Hero wrote the rap lyrics, in Thai. Today Su is 22 and Moa is soon to be 21 (July). The pace that you them doing for this song is pretty much their pace for the entire performance. There is physically fit and there's what ever Su and Moa are. Both Su and Moa have been performing professionally on stage since they were about 6 yo. Su was modeling at 3 yo. This is the 10 year anniversary of Babymetal and I'll let you do the math on their ages at the beginning. As to a US Tour, who knows. It's not just the virus, its that I don't think their agency or government will let them come here until we have a better handle on the virus. Since you are rapper, how about reacting to BxMxC, there's not an official performance video, but there is an official audio. Warning Su raps. When you think you re ready there some more Japanese metal/rock bands to react too.

I saw them in the Forum last year and it was sensory overload. So much going on, lights, projections, pyrotechnics, crowd, band, and the girl. Great show How the band got together. Kei Kobayashi is a music producer and noticed Su when she was in her previous group, Karen Gils's. He thought her voice was powerful and wasted on just pop and dreamed of her singing metal with a set of twins. A year or so later Su was a member of another group, Sakura Gakuin, which is an idol group of teenage girls up to age 15. Koba was a producer for the group and paired her with Yui and Moa from SG and created the sub Babymetal. This was 2010. In 2011 they released their first video which went viral. They got bigger, in 2013 they added musicians, signed a record contract, and split from Sakura Gakuin. In 2014 they were invited to Sonisphere in the UK and played for 60k fans, and things just took off from there, They have been steadily rising ever since. 2018 was a bad year, their lead guitarist had an accident and died, and Yui developed an undisclosed illness and was forced to leave the band. They released an album in 2019 that hit 13 on Billboard hot 200, and 1 on Billboard Rock, Metal, and World music charts. Su and Moa are still going strong. They will tour the US again, but hard to say when. They cancelled part of their European tour and all of their Asian tour so who knows if they will reschedule or start fresh when things resume.

@@GTReactions One thing that wasn't mentioned above: as Yui left the band, she's been replaced by 3 other girls named the Avengers. They're taking turns, depending on the shows and songs; unlike Su and Moa, this isn't a static position.

Seeing their energy on stage is fantastic. I'm sooo glad I managed to see them live just before the quarantine started.

I'd really like to add something valuable, but you pretty much covered everything there is to say. The energy in those crowds is absolutely insane, especially in Japan. You'll hardly ever get a chance to see shows that size outside Japan, though. If I'm not mistaken, the only shows in the West comparable in size and stage presentation were Wembley in the UK in 2016 and The Forum in Los Angeles in 2019. But the smaller shows are great fun, too! I was prepared to hate this song when it was released, as I couldn't imagine liking Thai Rap, but it didn't take long for it to become one of my most loved live songs. Jumping around swinging a towel above your head along with other fans is incredible fun. I'm so looking forward to the next time! BABYMETAL are doing this time and time again, they are creating the most unthinkable combination of genres, and somehow it always works.

I saw a picture of them (Babymetal) on their bus and they're all asleep. They put out so much energy, these girls do, that they just must be exhausted after their concerts.

This is an incredible level of success for anyone to achieve. It’s unfortunate that Yui isn’t there. She was an original member who had to quit for health reasons. She and Moa came up with Black Babymetal, a song they perform without Su. Check it out.

It all started... With an Anime Opening. No, seriously. Su-Metal was in a Different idol pop group (Karen Girls) recorded the opening to the Anime Zettai Karen Children (which is a surprisingly metal song for a track sang by I think 12y old girls) Su's vocal talent got noticed by a producer who got the idea for Babymetal & here we are now.

I think they maybe an exception to a lot of things

I've seen them live twice both shows were great (though at smaller venues so no fire) They do tour in America and across Europe however due to the reason global health crisis they had to cancel the European and Russian leg of their tour. As of now nothing is planned until it is safe to travel again. One thing about their songs is that they, especially on the most recent album blend genres together. Pop/rap/metal They also will include EDM and others as well in certain songs. But all their lyrics are super G-rated with hardcore music this one was about Papaya food, another is about Chocolate, they have an Anti-bullying song (Ijime,Dame,Zettai) and Headbanger is about a 15 year old going to her first metal concert. I hope you react to more of their stuff in the future.

They actually did their European leg including two shows in Russia just as planned. What they had to cancel was the Asian leg of the Metal Galaxy World Tour and additional European dates (mostly festivals) for the summer.

You really want to feel this song, play it in your car with the windows down on the highway going about 80...you can thank me later!

A lot of the background sounds you can hear are the croud singing there bit in the song they want the croud to be part of the performance, the way they see it is you have the girls, the musicians and the fans so when all three them come to gether then you have "BabyMetal", they even named the fans they called us (The One) and they did a song for the fans called *The One*, no doubt you will be asked to react to it at some point.

If you want Japanese metal that is actually good and not a gimmick.... Have a listen to Loudness (Black Star Oblivion), X-Japan - (Kurenai from the last live concert), and Galneryus - (Angel of Salvation Live). You're welcome :)

I see what you did there. Good in this context is highly subjective. And are you sure visual kei is not a gimmick? Certainly solid recommendations, but throwing in a diss of another band is quite unnecessary. And it is not like metal bands don't do gimmicks. BTW, Yoshiki endorses Babymetal.

@@johnschultz7765 fair enough on your point on visual kei. I guess I just got sick of the 2 girl bands getting all the love while bands I have loved for decades go by the wayside. And the musicians in those bands deserve it.
