As an English speaker I oddly proper the Japanese version. Not sure why but I prefer the way the lyrics flow in the chorus. But the way Su says "Spin spin spin around" will never not be amazing.

I don't care what anybody says, if this is not metal then what is? I grew up with KISS, OZZY, Metallica, Judas Priest, Slayer and so many other great bands and now I've become a fan of Babymetal. 🇧🇷

It's like if bubblegum pop and heavy metal had a baby... The guitar, drums, bass are shockingly really fucknig good. And then the cutesy voices and choreography kick in. I actually really like it.

@@ColonelMetus the audio and video are completely separate, combined in post editing. The video is clips from a live concert from the latest tour, maybe several, with effects added to make it more than just a montage while the audio is the studio version of the English version of the song. They do not lip sync anymore, that stopped nearly three years ago and was only Moa-Metal and Yui at that point. Su-Metal has been completely live except for her harmony track for years.

@@ColonelMetus you haven't been paying attention because they actually do and not just in songs, interviews are being done more and more in English as the girls improve as are any announcement videos on their social media. Sure, they've got a heavy accent and still have problems with L sounds since their native tongue doesn't really have them, but she DOES speak English.

Just like with THE ONE, both versions are great. I'm used to the Japanese version since I've spent over a year listening to it and I think its lyrics has a better rhythm-n-flow, but I know the English version will grow on me.

I think this really proves how much Su loves her international fans...she was never under any obligation to ever learn any English and yet she did so she could interact with her non Japanese fans and this song kind of is the pinnacle of that, I hope she does more English songs in the future. Also just saying listening to her singing this and then hearing when she sang painkiller and breaking the law a few years backs Su has gotten so good at speaking English and Moa is getting better to

ある意味、英才教育を受けてきたメタルエリートですものねｗ 残念ながらバンドを脱退したyuimetal、moametalは10～11歳から、su-metalでさえ12～13歳から、そして、今ではもうちょっとしたらバンド結成9周年となる。 なかなかいないですよ、周りに小学生と中一からメタル・ロックがあったというのは。 しかも、仕事をしていたのでその道の一流どころと交流を持てたり、お勉強できる （今後も含めて考えるとキャリア形成の点で）恵まれた環境にあるのは、 世界中探しても、まーないでしょうね。

@@waisonline Yes it does, but apparently Koba didn't like the direct English translation and asked the adapter to redo it to be more… I can't remember the word used. The result is this -- a song that can be easily interpreted as being about mental instability minus the description of hell. It honestly makes me think of Suzuka's older sister Himeka, who is an absolute hero.

Yeah, strange thing is I enjoy bands singing their native language better than when they sing english, even if I don't understand the lyrics. Rammstein is the same way.

Agreed! Su sounds a bit better in her native tongue but, a recent interview I saw (Glastonbury I think) revealed her English is very good! Even Moa is picking up a few words now. Great times!

Singing in English is more of a technique. Just memorizing the words and inflections. It's a lot different when you have to translate your thoughts from your native language to a foreign language and speak at the same time.

I fucking love it. I had to emphasize how much I love it with adding the f word. This and Soilwork’s Underworld EP have been the best releases thus far to me.

I think we should appreciate the girl who sings and in the center , her voice is beautiful

Felipe Bayardo Melgoza op was saying that whether it’s in English or Japanese, nobody does a chorus section low BABYMETAL. I don’t think Op was confused as to what language it is in

No-one is ever going to be as good as Yui Mizuno, but at least the management seems to understand that it needs to find someone who can at least compete with her kawaii power. This is the first film clip I have been able to finish watching since Mizuno left.

The third girl is Kano Fujihira, aged 15 (but 14 in this clip), current President of Sakura Gakuin -- a position Suzuka and Moa both held in their days. Kano was also the third girl in the PA-PA-YA!! MV. Honestly, much as I like and miss Yui, I think you give her too much credit. Yes, Yui was one of the most kawaii things to ever exist, but Moa was/is a better singer (so is Kano) and Mikiko-sensei herself said Suzuka was a better dancer.
