BABYLON - Minecraft Timelapse [1200+ hours]

Ойындар

After almost a year of work I'm super proud to release this map + timelapse !
This is definitely the biggest project I've ever made !
The map is 100% complete including interiors!
All temples, all houses are decorated!
I had a lot of fun doing it, but also faced a lot of issues (especially technical issues), that's why you can see some light or render distance bugs in the video.
I used 64 chunks of render distance for this timelapse
The whole project took me around 1200 hours, from october 2021 to september 2022!
Thank you for watching!
Subscribe Like and Share for the hard work!
Like always, I hope you enjoy the video and if you also want to enjoy the map and support the channel :

really impressive. enlarging the notable structures was also a good idea, it helps the stand out more (for those wondering, the tower at 8:25, the Etemenanki, would only be 50 or so blocks tall if it was to scale)

can you speak to the accuracy of the population/size of tue city as depicted here?

  • @caoilfhionndunbar

    @caoilfhionndunbar

    Жыл бұрын

@@nigglewiggle4214 the estimates for population (and even the actual land area of the city) vary quite alot, however the most accepted numbers range from fifty thousand to two hundred thousand, at its peak. size estimates are around 890 hectares in the Osthaken (outer walls) and 400 in the Imgur-Enlil-Nimit-Enlil walls (outer walls). those walls were between 6 and 8 meters thick, and both were double walls with interspaces of 12 and 7.8 meters respectively. they could have been as tall as 20 meters, based on the ishtar gate (the big blue gate) which is 30 meters tall. as for density, it may have been as high as 200 people per hectare, or it could have been extremely low, less then that of the rural villages around it (this is suggested by patterns in other middle eastern and Egyptian cities in antiquity, where the population density went down with size of both area and population). this further confounds population estimates. overall, its a very pretty map, and as far as I can tell from the ground view, and not cross checking the procession layout, a good recreation of the general shape of the city, but its a cool looking map first and foremost, interested in recreating the mythological Babylon more then the real thing. of course thats not a bad thing, its very obvious that was the intention (they built the tower of babel of course its not an attempt at a historical recreation), if your interested in learning more about the city, i would recommend T. Bory's "Late Achaemenid and Hellenistic Babylon" for more information, thats what I used for most of my numbers given here.

@@puentescringe3442 the size of the Etemenanki haas been re examined since the initial discovery, and found that the tablets exagerated the height, current estimates say its a miximum 54 meters tall. The Esagil isnt a Ziggurat, its a temple, and not much taller then a normal building.

This is a work of art! Nor only the visual composition is well organized and the massive structures utterly beautiful despite being realistic but even in the most simper elements theres a sense of bsckground study and persprctive as IMHO the most remarkable feat of this entire build is the claustrophoblic sense the intricacy of the people's houses give. Back in the day, armies were so massive it was hard to take over a city from the inside because the tight spaces they had to maneuver. Usually you had to shut down its water suply or take down its walls which is why Babylon walls were so huge and revered throughout the ancient world.

@@NecronMinecraft dans ce cas crédité que vous avez utiliser un des build du serveur dans la description. Et à l'avenir evitez de reprendre les build des autres personne ou projet c'est irrespectueux, surtout quand ça se fait de l'argent dessus. Remember the good old days of minecraft when people would show off their amazing builds that were actually built legitimately in survival by hand? Now we get videos like this. Over-abused world edit, CG, rendering, mods etc to help build something in easily half the time with half the effort, and call it a day. The worst part is nobody even questions it. Half the comments are people who are so used to shit like this that they don't care anymore, and the other half are people who somehow think this is real and was done manually and not by a computer in 30 seconds.
