💯 bro slimlines and the wahl Detailers are pretty much the all around trimmers that don’t really snag or anything and for the fraction of the price. Keeping in mind replacement parts, price, availability of replacement blades and cost. The slimlines are always going to be part of any talk lol they’re beast.

Been using the same set of Wahl Designers for 15+ years. Never replaced the blade. Granted, I have mainly used them for personal use other than when all the fraternity brothers wanted cuts back in 08 when we brought the crisp lines down from Jersey.

I agree, when it comes to long fringe hair they don’t hit well. I use the babyliss to bald out or/& line up short hair. Slim line pro best overall lineup trimmer👍

Man, you are SPOT ON! I have tried to replace my Slimlines with EVERY SINGLE other cordless trimmer, but NONE can measure up. It’s crazy that Andis never bothered to make a direct fit full size T blade for the slimline pro Li. I’ve modded them with the outliner blade, but it’s still not quite the same.

I had the slimline Li and the only problem I had was the irrigation it caused to the front of the neck. I think it’s all about the power of the motor because I don’t have that problem with the andis t outliners.

Completely agree. I have the same set up but my silver FX sometimes snag on the beard line but the slimline pro can handle any cut

Try not to angle the butt out off the skin while cutting. Keeping this blade 'flatter' against the skin can avoid this.

I have the silver FX trimmer and he's absolutely correct when comes to the lining and bulky straight hair. I did put the gold blade on it for better results. I also wanna try the Slimline Mod

Pro li is a bang for you buck! I have two, one with the gtx wide blade and the other with the small stock blade. I like em and they do the job! I belive you can get a pro li for $70.

This helps a lot!!! I have wahl detailers. I want a 2nd trimmer that's inexpensive and trying to decide between the slimline pro or the corded andis gtx. This about seals the deal for me

I think it’s the teeth. If you look closely the slimline teeth are spaced fairly far apart. The Babyliss are very close. This has advantages and disadvantages for both. For the closely spaced teeth like Babyliss you can zero gap them closer without them biting clients. This makes the Babyliss good for African American hair or hair that’s fine. The Babyliss struggles with large follicle course hair. It’ll cut it but it’s not as easy and as clean as the further spaced teeth on the slimline they grab the hair better. But the negative for the slimline wider spaced teeth is they tend to bite on the neck when zero gapped. They also struggle with fine or small length hair when compared to the Babyliss does great with small length hair cause the blade is so sharp and you can zero them closer. That’s my opinion.

I agree with you on that. I think the babyliss fx was only intended to rival andis T-outliners in shaping up only. As I'm moving to cordless trimmers and clippers, I'll stand with made in usa. I never had any issues with any andis snagging or pushing hair it cuts no matter what. The only thing I don't like with andis T outlines is that the blades are not as sharp as I would like them to be. The babyliss fx comes in here as I would it to be. I'm going to get me the gtx and compare it to the babyliss fx. If it's as sharp as the babyliss I'll take the gtx and get rid of the fx. Babyliss copied andis but all in all andis is a better quality trimmer even though the fx is also good too. Just my 2cents.

i have both trimmers you reviewed id say if you have the babyliss Fx trimmers and the slimlines you dont need any other trimmers.

The slimlines will always be one of the best because of the versatility and because they just work really really well (definitely a sleeper) that being said I think the GOLD FX are on a different level when it comes to edge ups and that comes from a non believer in the hype. In my opinion the biggest misconception is that the gold and the other versions of the FX were created equally. That gold blade is the sweet spot between the deep and fine tooth and its thinner so it gets closer to the skin without irritation.

I had same problem with the babyliss. I bought the finetooth blade nd use them only for lineups. I use the slimeline for balding.

The slimline pros are one of the best trimmers period...especially when you have it set right. And I like the smaller blade to keep it 💯 and it cuts so clean and honestly the battery last hella long...and you can have 2 if not 3 for the price of one. Slime lines > all other trimmers

I just got them. I have to zero gap them. But I love my slimline.

Seems like the only thing Slim Lines can't do is to cut bulk, other than that there really aren't any better trimmers and for the price of it :O thank you for this realisation, I'm going to value my 2 slim lines even more :)

What is your opinion of the slimline with the stock D-8 blade?

Slim line pro are the champs of cordless and the Andis Gtx or the Andis Superliners are neck and neck champs of the cords but the Superliners are better to me because they are lighter..

Yes the babyliss are good trimmers no lie. They have power n a nice blade... But they do tend to push hair or not so clean cut on longer straight hair or real coarse hair. Also whn lining up ur corners or box they can hit too hard and no so good for graphics..... The slim lines are really a all around trimmers.. depending how they are set.. great for graphics n small places clean enuff to bring back tht razor n sharpen things up... Wish they did have more power or better yet a sharpen still blade for tighter lines... Personally I'ma t-outliner n babyliss guy but tend to favor my t-outliner n slim line combo.

Thanks I will be getting the slimlines. I wanted the babyliss but its so expensive.

Slimline pro is AMAZING, I love my silver and gold fx but I feel they are more specialized trimmers like you said. They push long hair and going around the ear with longer hair is a pain. But if I pull the slimline out they mow through the hair. Babyliss is better for bulk removal tho. The guys in my shop have the gold fx with the newer blade and they don’t scrape or push hair so maybe I just have to replace the blade idk

Andis is in trouble because of the slimline pro. You are right in saying they didn't mean for this trimmer to be this good. The cordless T Outliner isn't even as good and it's 3x the price.

@@jrawblue24 He is actually right. The Andis Cordless T Outliners do not cut as good as the Corded Andis T Outliner. But the cordless Andis Slimline Pro li cuts ✂️ way better than the Andis Cordless T Outliner. How do I know all this 🤔 Well because I purchased a Andis Cordless T Outliner and sold them right away because I don't like how they cut. Man BUT THESE SLIMLINE PRO LI!! I LOVE THEM.

@@xHustleHaRdx oh no, I was only comparing the slim lines with the CORDED T-outliners. I think I read his message wrong. Yeah, I’ve heard different things about the CORDLESS T’s. I swear by the slimlines, but I still don’t know if they cut better than the CORDED T’s. I haven’t compared them because I stopped using the CORDED T’s in place of the slimlines 😅. I don’t even think my skeleton fx’s are as SHARP as my slimlines... more powerful, but I give the “edge” (pun intended) to the slimlines...

Yeah the detailers are hard to beat. The only negative I have with them is Wahl wake the fk up and get a new design team 76 year old Larry and 62 year old Bill obviously don’t have the style we need for the new barber era. They literally made the same style with the same old classic I think ugly maroon color. Like what are they doing? There stuff is solid but it lacks style. Barbers like their tools to not only perform good but look pretty dam good too. I’m waiting on the design team to really do something new and innovating which I bet they will you know what they’ll proly do. Paint the detailer li black and call it something new lol like they did with the old one stupid sad to say it but true. I’ll take a blacked out detailer come on Wahl it’s not like y’all are busy innovating new stuff lol come on

Great review, Thanks ! What would you recommend for personal use to bald my own head. I've been using a Braun Series 5 but getting too many bumps. Never tried a zero gapped trimmer but thought that may get almost as close but less bumps? Was looking at the Babyliss Pro FlashFX or the Andis Slimline Pro..

have you considered a foil shaver ?

Because you have that graphite blade . Use the gold blade and it will slice through like butter

I think there is something to be said at how close the babyliss skeletons cut. Zero gapped if used to bald out your client it gives the closest thing to a shaver you can get. This is a big deal because if your client cant take a shaver or its a small child that a shaver would irritate them too much. You can use the skeleton trimmers and it will still give that appearance of almost a true skin fade. I mean the trimmer can literally blend shaver lines thats still crazy to me tbh not that i create them in the first place lol just out of experimentation haha.

My silver fx sk the best for me bro and I have the slimlines and the gold fx the wahl hero’s detailers and the styliner 2s I love my styliners especially with the promate blade leaves no irritation

Do u know if the slimline battery can be changed out? I just did the T-blade mod to my slime line because I seen your video on it but not your saying u don’t use them anymore 🤦🏽‍♂️😂

I’m sure you can change the battery out somehow. I haven’t opened the trimmer up. I just don’t use the t-blade version because I got the Babyliss trimmers. They still work fine.

I have the Gold but the blades are too expensive!

Im pretty sure the fx trimmers are all the same, the blades are just different and the clipper color is to match. Your right, I have gold fx for line ups, and I use slim lines for beard because it’s my soft trimmer. Best trimmer duo

I have thr slimline pro li. I feel the power is lacking. I cut my own hair at home and I always go back to the andis t outliner corded version. Another issue I have with the slimline is that they don't feel as smooth as the t outliner.

True barbers look for quality before a price tag. Babyliss nice to look at, but the price isn't justified in what you get. You obviously a real barber and not giving in all the hype. Save money guys, you WILL NOT go wrong with t-outliner or slimline, alongside Oster fast-feeds. I did buy Masters, but I can't lie, Fast feeds fade better. Especially for half price. When Oster goes cordless, game over for everyone.

Damn that's crazy I purchased that setup oster fast feed from ebay new open box $50 and the Andis slimline $70 from Amazon. Gave my self my first cut and it came out pretty good.. I recommend this setup guys

New blade on any trimmer have to be broke in first or they’ll be too sharp if they’re zero gapped. Sometimes I take a grind stone and remove metal from my blades so they aren’t as sharp so they can be zero gapped

I sold my Andis Cordless T Outliners right away once I realized how they do not cut right. The Andis Cordless Slimline Pro li cuts ✂️ 👌 😍 way better that the Andis Cordless T Outliner. I also love my BaByliss Gold & silver Fx trimmer but man there is something special about my Andis Cordless Slimline Pro Li. They are so light and easy to line someone up. If the Andis Slimline Pro Li had more power 🔋 💪 I would sell both of my BaByliss Trimmers A.S.A.P . Andis Slimline Pro Li feels so good 👍 in the hand and cuts ✂️ really well man.

LOL, Slimline is NOT slept on. It is literally the best-selling trimmer on most barber supply sites and it is the most common trimmer in barber vidz here on KZread. Babyliss is only seen as the creme of the crop because of its price and design so people aspire to own it.
