You should get some Venus fly traps in a aqua terrarium would look awesome
Regarding your flies, why not plant a trumpet pitcher plant in your Paludarium set-up? Should do fine there. May be more effective for the flies too.

Great idea. Those sticky paper strips are awful. Reminds me of my grandparents home in summer time as a kid and I'd see dead and semi alive wriggling insect bodies stuck to them and sometimes for days. Gross. 🤢🤮 Apart from that everything else is looking great.❤🙂

Mountain Goldfish lol true that! In a taller tank you could probably do some top level swimmers. But I totally get that they might not be everyone’s cup of tea ☕️

So happy you decided to go with the Apistogrammas!!! I've got Pencfish and Hatchetfish with my Apistogramma's in a planted 75 gallon. The Pencilfish and Hatchetfish are both natural dither fish for the Apistogramma's. I have 3 pair all being different species. Cacatuoides, Hongsloi, and Viejita. I also have a pair of Agassizi on order right now to add to the mix. I can't wait to see what your setup looks like!!

Coral Red Pencilfish to be exact and Marbled Hatchetfish. The corals were tough to get and they are pricey but I think worth it in the end.
Also I love when the fish tubers give fish personalities and voices.
Glad you settled on the name Ember! It’s what we all wanted.
Strip light to bring out the colors of fish. I've had chiclids for many years.. You'll love them. I'm trying peacocks this time. Said to stay smaller and not as aggressive. We'll see. Lol. 😁💙

Timmeh is just too friggin CUTE! A brilliant choice to change it up so he will be more comfortable & happy. I'm so excited about the cichlid tank! Be careful stocking too many males because they can become very territorial. With some kinds of cichlid they will develop a male and female pair that is dominant and just kind of keep the others from breeding.. with other breeds, which are more territorial, you can wake up to a bloodbath 💩 MD! This is an amazing channel! I really appreciate all the care and time you put into your creatures and their setups and well-being! You're a great fish daddy 😸
Beautiful vedio....turtle now looks so pretty...u have so many ideas for every tank. U done wonderful job ...I love your work..u r my favorite ....
If you go with rams be careful. German blue/electric blue/gold/black rams are very like discus. German blue rams are one of the few fish that are very sensitive to nitrate so make sure you keep ontop of the water changes. Personally I wouldn't do more than 2 pairs in that tank. Also need hot temperatures (27-30c) to do well.If you go with bolivian rams they are alot hardier, might be a better option to go with. Apistos should be good though. Good luck!
An awesome addition to the Cichlid tank would be a big Bonsai style tree on the back middle.. would add perfect calm to the craziness in the tank.. keep up the great work MD!
Loving the videos. Can't wait for the next tanks. Keep it up.
Love Timaaaay's accent MD. He's really funny. Your vids are the perfect blend of down to earth info & humour.
Love the new set up for TIMMY! He never sits where we expect.
I love everything...all of it!!! Oh, carnivorous plants would be good fly trap decor. I’m diggin the stocking ideas and can’t wait to see that project.
Timmy steals the show everytime lol just too cute. Careful with the ferns though im certain that they are poisonous to turtles 😏 But I'm loving the idea of electric blue rams in the new set up 😍😍❤

Good thing to keep in mind to help aggression among cichlids.. change things up. Even moving one or two rocks by couple of inches is often enough to re set and, calm things down. At least for a while. Nice set up, btw
I see it many times in a really beautiful aquarium, thank you😊🇯🇵👍
So happy about you possibly getting into rams!! I love my beautiful pair of crazy little fish, they’re so cute and personable! 😁
first, South American dwarf cichlids would be AMAZING, so I'm really looking forward to that. Second, if you can set up a light for a couple of plants, try some Pinguicula. They are easy carnivorous plants that love midges and other small insects, and could add a cute element to your plant collection. Since your water is soft (slightly less of a concern with Pings), you might be able to grow them in your setups in the emersed areas... worth a try. Mexican pings (the easiest, I think) can grow on rocky walls. They need a dry period, so you might want to put them where they can be easily removed to rest, but it might help with your midge issue in the meantime. Anyway, a thought and something that you might want to play with.
If you’re having trouble with fungus gnats/midges, that’s really common when keeping houseplants too. A cool idea that doesn’t involve fly paper is to get some carnivorous plants - so many of them like boggy, humid, low nutrient conditions and they’d sit amazingly as marginals among the mosses and ferns. They’d look really cool, and catch bugs for you without endangering the fish. Can recommend mini Nepenthes species for the job - the variety I have is called “Monkey Cups” - but you could get sundews, pitcher plants, Venus fly traps (less efficient, but still cool) and many other options.

Great video my friend! Just starting to get into reptiles myself!
Really looking forward to the African Cichlid setup, big rocks easy to move around if need be, perfect. If you use African Cichlid Sand, no need at all to worry about PH levels, sand buffers and does work for you.
Cool video keep up the good work you are the best fish youtuder
12:27 you said dwarf African cichlids. 🤭 Love Timmy's new setup! 😍
It's a really nice setup. But you definitely have to block all of those gaps and holes inbetween the rocks! Turtles tend to go through EVERY gap, at least, they try, like 'hey, my head fits into I will get along'. As they grow and get more powerful they can easily shift the smaller rocks and make the whole construction unstable. In worst case, they get trapped or even slayed. Be aware. All the best for Timmyyyy ;-)
10000k lights is the best spectrum for cichlids!! It shows the best color. And please don't mix Mbuna's with haps and peacock's lol. One or the other. I love your aquarium's! I look forward to seeing what you choose.
Great job on Timmy’s tank! I had a similar fly problem a while ago, have one or the other coming from some plant somewhere still. I just feed them to my little betta lol 😂
@14:37 ayeeeeeee 💪🏻🔥
Yesssss love it!
african shell dwellers would look dope!
Julies and a couple of other Tangs such as leleupi would be pretty cool :)
Great video like always 😎👍🏻 you inspired me to start a planted aquarium and I’m uploading my first video in a few days 🙂
Been a few years since I had an aquarium on the go, but am really inspired now after following you for a few weeks now, gonna try do a river setup like yours and a Betta tank 😁
The spotlight sounds like an awesome idea.
In my opinion you should use sand, not gravel,or something of small granulation. Don't bother making a fixed and perfect arranged scape, filling gaps and looking perfect, as cichlids love to dig and will move sand around. I would recommend making the hardscape have more crevasses and places for the cichlids to hide. Awesome job, love your channel!👍👍
Timmy moved to the Caribbean!! Love them changes and I'm sure it will make t everyone's general life better.
T-Timmehhhhh! You’re not overdoing it’s. It’s hilarious 😂
Wow, it looks much better now!
Nice renos to Timmy’s tank! ... and good call i think on the new tank I think! Dwarf African Cichlids!
Definitely go with the spotlight 👌🏻
For the midges, just hang a light low over some of your tanks. I'm sure your betta and all the tetras would greatly appreciate all the high quality live food.
Trick for the gnats, works like a charm... Mix some apple cider vinegar with a cpl of drops of original (blue) Dawn dish liquid in a few small cups & sit them around the studio. They'll be attracted to the cider vinegar & get stuck by the dish liquid. Should clear them out in just a few days
I love his tank even more now!
You definitely not saying timeeeey enough. Love the videos
MD Fish Tanks You could a cool species only tank with a big group of one of the ones I’ve said before, or with some paracyprichromis nigripinnis. Edit: Also you could do a community of some electric blues and yellows, some Neolamprologus pulcher, Julidochromis marlieri, lemon cichlids. Stuff like that. Edit to the edit: You should put 20-30 cichlids total. I know I’ve already commented this on another vid, but I think it’d look so cool. And since you asked for suggestions again, here you go.
Electric blue Jack Dempsey 🙌🏼 we have three and they are beautiful
I'm fairly sure he won't be getting the right amount of uvb from that light especially at that height. You can buy uvb test cards to measure it to be sure rather than wait till he shows signs of malnutrition.
Seachem Phosguard in your filter for a few weeks will help with the diatoms, I used it and boy it works. Then just save it for the next new tank.
If you don't want ammonia to build up from wasted food you can take Timmy out and put him in a Tupperware of dechlorinated water to feed him. Whatever he cant finish in a few minutes you can just throw out. Just a suggestion, worked for me 😁
Love it!
Can’t wait for new tank.
Youre not over doing it, marc. lmao. ps Suits him, perfectly :D
i
I'm disappointed that you aren't giving yourself a challenge like you wanted to, with a hardscape only tank. You seemed so inspired to do so!
Island to the left needs some of the Rio Xingu peddles on it to hide the gravel. Ties it much better to the rocks and the sand (and not big enough for him to eat)
Ah I love the tanks on your channel!! I've actually got a 2nd tank now that I dont know what I fancy putting in there but maybe I'll get my own little turtle now and do a tank set up after being inspired by this video 😍 on my page I keep oranda goldfish that I'm hoping to upload and update on my page too, but seriously timmy is so cute! Think I need to get one!!🥰😄
I love Timmy's voices and the South Park reference!
MD when you are making the dwarf chiclid tank you should make small caves in which they can feel safe
South American cichlids are amazing!
Gotta love a good fix.
Hey African cichlid needs cracks and and crevices.. and prefer caved sections so that they can dart in and out. You can buy fake sunken ships with a lot of holes.. it looks beautiful and a perfect environment for them. Also sunken ship restricts the flow and a lot of dirt gets collected behind the toy and that helps increase the ph. I have 23 african cichlids in 4ft long, 15 inches wide and 18 inch tall with a top filter and a UV filter...
Ember!!👍👍 I agreed with that guy too
If you're going South American, I'd recommend electric blue acaras and Bolivian rams. They're beautiful and fairly mild mannored.
Definitely spotlight!
For the cichlid tank, the substrate will help tremendously if it is aragonite. My cichlid tanks stay at a ph of 8 while my planted tanks are in the 6.6 range. I recommend substrate small enough for them to put in their mouth so they can excavate where they would like, but keep in mind the super fine substrate like aragonite “sugar” will be siphoned up a little each time you clean. I’m excited to see what you end up with, but definitely look at pseudotropheus saulosi. Also consider a community tank of Tanganyikans like leleupi, julidochromis, and either similis or multifasciatus and perhaps some ciprichromis leptosoma. That would be an awesome combination. Your rock formation screams African, but if you want to continue with plants and softer water, consider Electric Blue Acara, just anchor your plants well.
You should put Saulosi mbuna cichlids in your tank! They are dimorphic so you will get the blue in the males and yellow with the females and juveniles. They are a dwarf cichlid so they'll only get like 3 inches and the are mouth brooders so that's super cool!
I love the TIMMY!! And I never watched whatever show it’s from.
Hi MD I've will be very interesting to see you have a marine community tank that would be sick. Big fan
Hey MD! Everything is geting realy cool! Try bolivian rams and apistos!

Nice Timmy tank update
@MD Fish Tanks, for your African Cichlid tank. I suggest goin' with either a hardy water plant. Tazawa Tanks succeeded with one type. Or try interweave a plastic grass type of grass. Just to create more... visual block but also add something less rocky. Plus with a big of algae, it will look just fine! A good excuse to have a bit of algae.

Im doing south american cichlids bud.
hello what's going on with the ranchu eggs?
Loving Timmy's voice
it's very simple: your filter is too slow because of the rocks in front of it. So, move your filter to have all the power of it and I think it will be good. And the UV ligth is not very good for an aquarium because too much powerfull and it allows algaes devlopment. (I hope it was clear, I am French ^^)
Hey man! Just btw the red light you're using isn't too great for reptiles. They're marketed towards them, yes. But those kinds of lights are known to blind reptiles. I'd switch it out for a ceramic heat emitter or just a normal basking bulb
Great video! Sorry I'm so late to the party! As a side note I always add beneficial bacteria to the tank when I add fish or do a large water change. It gives the fish less stress cause they seem to dislike change and such. Oh Yeah and Ember is an awesome name!

Im going to do the same now brent. This is the first "big" fish i've ever added.
Get some tanganjika cichlids. They are more suitable for "small" aquariums. Like some rare shell dwellers (neolamprologus occelatus for example) or altolamprologus and so on. Also, they have an extremly interesting behavior. Malawi's just have nice color... btw. Love your videos, greetings from Germany 💪🏻
A spot light wil look awesome
Wow so close to 100k followers keep up the good work you were at 50k like a week ago 🤣
you may already know this but just be very cautious with the use of gravel in the turtle tank making sure it isn't small enough for him to try to eat which can cause impactions. Love the vids keep it up!!
I like the rocks as is for cichlids; I wonder if you could do some emersing aquatic plant(s) from the island in Timmy's tank (bolbitis or hygrophyla etc)
