Baby Swimming Lesson
Baby Swimming Lessons are so much fun. This is Lulu at 19 Months of age. Swimming is great for baby's social, emotional and physical development. Although we regard water as the main stimulant, it is important that you are equipped with other items to make your child’s swimming lesson stimulating and fun. Keep in mind we want to continue educating your baby via their senses specifically sight, sound and touch. Toys should always have a swimming related purpose. Toys must also be packed up after every use and never left floating on the pool surface. Having toys floating on the surface could encourage baby to venture into the pool area unsupervised. Young children require active adult supervision at all times.
Pouring water from cup to cup or through a watering can will excite and stimulate baby’s touch sense and help make them calm and relaxed. While pouring water children enhance their gross motor skills and coordination. Activities like pouring, carrying, splashing and squeezing are great to develop the the small muscles in baby's hands. Plastic cups are also used to pour water over baby's face to develop their breath control skills.
Large colourful balls are perfect for babies to chase when doing floating and kicking activities. Balls of different colours and textures will increase stimulation. Toys which hold water can be unhygienic so make sure to select toys that water can drain out easily and not hold water.
Remember, pack toys away immediately after use. Never leave them floating on the surface of the pool as this may attract young children to venture back into the water.
