The Vervet Forest is a wildlife rehab series focused on Vervet Monkeys at the Vervet Monkey Foundation. The series showcases the process of taking orphaned and injured vervet monkeys through a foster mother program which helps these rescued orphan baby monkeys to be adopted by foster mother monkeys. The show is for fans of the animal planet, nat geo, discovery and anyone who is an animal lover who loves animals and would like to be part of helping them get back to the wild.

    It seems to me that all the monkeys in this sanctuary live in a sort of monkey heaven. They live so much better than monkeys in the wild with safety from poachers/hunters; medical care as needed; and a plentiful diet. Thank you for the loving care you provide❣️

I’m def feeling the ❤️ for this season’s babies but also remembering the last few baby seasons & wondering about so many of those monkeys, physically they have grown & changed a ton, I’m sure. Horst is a good looking little guy & so playful! There are so many I want to ask about but will refrain... lol!! 🤭 I hope you are all having a really good week & that you are maybe getting some volunteers now?

    I'm curious. If a higher ranking female decided to steal a baby for herself would the baby ever accept her as it's mother or is the bond with it's original mother unbreakable? I thank the foundation in bringing us these updates in documentary style. I was 1/2 through and realized I have a huge smile on my face!

    I loved this episode! I just can't get enough of feeding time, because your knowledge is so incredibly comprehensive- it's truly amazing. You all seem to know who gets what plate of food and in what order they eat. You also know about their dietary restrictions, plus what you feed them- and why. I learn SO much from clips like this one. I also love how you identified each monkey in this episode. As much as I would like to say I recognize the babies (cough cough), let's just say sometimes I do get confused! Heh heh. As always, you all at the Foundation are incredible and we so appreciate you sharing your journey with us. I will check out the movie later tonight- I didn't think Kyle's movie benefitted the Foundation, but I guess it does- even better! Thanks for taking the time to share your experiences with us!

    I don't understand what you mean that you didn't think Kyle's movie would benefit them? Why wouldn't it? That was the point wasn't it? Though she mentioned all their names and why they received certain diets (as far as her ability to remember what all each or them got I have to say she is looking at the plate mentioning what they were getting so not such a tough task I would think and none of them had any duet "restrictions" did they? Only soft diets due to older age/lack of teeth?) but at no point did she mention why or how they ended up there at the facility or how long they had been there and I would have been FAR more interested in that info than what they were eating!🙂

It’s not a big deal but nice to put a face with a voice. I’m glad SAAV has such a laid back, accepting group but I couldn’t help feel sorry for Dora. I think it’s because she bonded with Holly after being in the intro cage for 8 weeks, yet Holly left her for another female to lure out. Dora seems to still want Holly, but Holly appears indifferent. Dora looks uncertain and frightened at times, not as well groomed as the other babies. I can’t shake that idea watching this video. Intellectually, I know there’s miles of uncut footage we never see and the staff is there 24/7 and know Dora is a happy, well cared for, food chasing treasure.

    Dave, my nephews watched this video. They liked your explanation of play fighting. They tried their logic to say as monkeys are similar to humans in many ways this was why he and his brother needed to play fight all the time. I guess I should be happy they were using logic. Unfortunately for them they are dominated by their sister who they are not allowed to fight with. They are trying to work out how to change this without fighting her. There father shook his head and pointed out that the monkeys were dominated by a female .

  • @VervetMonkey

    @VervetMonkey

    I’m curious. Do the forestry industries and other land developers ever contribute to VMF, CARE, and the orangutan refuges in Borneo and Sumatra? Since they are the ones destroying these ancient animal habitats, it would certainly buy them some goodwill if they donated some of the millions of $$ they’re making on what used to be the animals’ homes. In fact, they should be the major contributors. Do they donate at all? Have they been approached for help?
