I believe that many like me never knew or would have thought that you could take an orphaned monkey (animal), care for them for a short time and then have them adopted by one of their own kind. Your forward thinking is just amazing and the fact that you have been able to create your foundation is amazing and wonderful. You are a man above men Dave!

Tiny Oswald crying out for his mom just breaks my heart. You guys are such amazing and compassionate caregivers. I love how you speak so softly to them and try to give them comfort. I’ve been watching for months now and I cry for every dear little thing who has lost their mom. Thank you for your hard work and long hours and days.

Its species appropriate in being above the human standards for affection. Something many people don't understand is that monkey babies actually require much *more* affection and attention than human counterparts. Their mums don't normally put them down for more than a moment in infancy and though it will vary by species, they need to be able to cling most of the time to feel basic safety. Sort if how humans have an inborn fear of falling, monkeys have an inborn fear of being unattached.. Not in the sense my toddler needs his "security blankie", but as a life or death evolutionary imperative they are driven to fulfill because the alternative is to fall and be left to die. So lack of someone (or at least something) to hold onto in first 3 to 6 mos causes acute terror and chronic mental illness. You that in the horrible videos of infant macaque "pets" out of Asia. Even the well meaning ones who love the monkey will treat it like a child, (cradling it, setting it down on flat surface, expecting it to not freak out, putting blankets flat under or over it instead of rolled up to cling to, thinking it's instinctive terror response is a "tantrum" I stead of a biological driven adaptation to prevent moms from losing them, thinking thumb sucking is cute instead of a sign of impending self mutilation that only occurs in captivity, etc) and commenters there will say "Well she's treating it better than an animal, better than its mom who nips it to control over-nursing, treats it like a human baby!" But in the wild an infant monkey lives almost entirely on its mothers body, and while the mums can be rougher than ours, they'd likely think we were savages for putting our newborns in a bassinet for 2 hrs or a 6mos old in a playpen while we vacuum.

What a great alternative to videos of little ones kept as pets. You just know those stories don't end well for the babies. What you are doing is so very impressive and is both educational and also entertaining to watch.

It is sad to know Cambodian infant monkeys, torn from their murdered mothers (who n e v e r willingly give up their babies) only live a few months when in the forest can live 20+ years. Cambodian outlaws raise money so successfully, some support the family farms and have beautiful new homes. Thankfully, here, aside from the shoestring budget for necessities, funds here are all for the care of the rescued infants. No killing mothers to snatch infants and the staff is very open in their videos so contributors can see where their donations go. A very worthwhile organization!

Do you do "mom" sounds like rough/soft "muff muff" or their little whistles? Or would that cause them to imprint on humans. Damn, these guys are DARLING!!! Love looking, but I know they're wild and would never be domesticated. And that is exactly how it should be. Thanks for helping to be their true selves and living in a safe and natural environment with their own kind.

The little chirring cry for their mum is one of the saddest sounds ever. Imagine a world where your mum is your entire world and suddenly she doesn't answer, your aunties and your forest home disappeared. Now your world is filled with giant hairless creatures who make nonsensical sounds and handle you with huge paws. And that is only the beginning. Amazing, that any babies survive but somehow these people know how to give them a push toward life! Bravo!

What fun that group was having at the end! Just before that, when the now very healthy looking Charlotte was on the shelter's roof, mountains can be seen in the sunset - what are they called? Dave must give off very safe vibes because, since I've been watching, so many of the rescued orphans seem very content to sleep on him entirely of their own free will. It's very heartwarming to see that. Thanks as always for a great and varied video.

When I first saw Charlotte not very long ago she was a terrible mess and I thought your critical care nurses would be very sad when they couldn't pull Charlotte through. Time passed and I began to think that she would at least have a fairly decent quality of life with the special needs gang. Well I didn't reckon with Charlotte's will to live and the excellent care she received. Catching a glimpse of her out in a regular troop (Gizmo?) I couldn't believe it's the same monkey. She looks like any other normal juvenile. You give every baby monkey a chance to live no matter how rocky their start is and sometimes it pays off more than I would think possible.

Could your team make a video of all the different faces the babies and monkeys make, like eyebrowing, play faces etc. Although a frequent viewer, I’m confused about them. Sorry

I've found by being a regular viewer that each episode is educational in many ways so don't miss an episode and watch other seasons as well. Create a "playlist" on this KZread page and you'll see "topic" videos and you'll probably find what you're looking for and much more.

@@honeyowen3163 I watch both when released to members and again when generally released the following day. I have watched every single video from the very first week. Despite this I struggle to tell the differences between lip smacking, eyebrowing, play face and other frequently used phraseology. I get them mixed up which is why I made the request as I’m sure I’m not the only one.

bun bun they need to be with their troop in the wild. They are not pets no matter how much room you have. Adopt one virtually and watch his or her progress integrating back into a troop with their foster mom.

Taking a primate as a pet is extremely selfish. Don't support the illegal pet trade. Or shoot, even the legal ones they still have no consideration for the monkeys. It's just pure and plain wrong for so many reasons. Do your research on this it pays to know.

No rehy or water yet? While driving is it okay to have passenger feed the baby? You feed it before taking off but im asking is it safe for a passenger to feed baby Vervet while on the road or is it too dangerous or will they choke ?

Maybe turn the volume down when lip smacking at them.. lol! That’s the most horrible sound coming from a human 😂 however when they monkeys do it it’s so cute.. love all the work you all do with them. Can’t wait to come back over that way and hopefully volunteer this spring.

I hate it, too. SO much!! But I have seen it calm down scared crying babies so I just either turn the volume down or fast forward a few seconds or I just suck it up for a minute lol... The more you watch these videos the less agonizing it is haha
