When the youngest baby was 14 days old I brought the babies into the nursery and prepared their nest. I used Pine Shavings and gave them millet immediately. They were handfed a few hours later. This episode covers week three of the baby lovebird’s growth. They grow very fast you don’t wanna miss it!
Raising baby lovebirds are tons of work. It should not be done for profit and the babies and parents should be your top priority. It is also very important to find good homes for them with people who are knowledgeable and realize that Lovebirds are a 15 year commitment. There are plenty of issues that could occur when handfeeding and raising a baby love bird. Some of these issues could be sour crop, burnt crop, slow crop, splayed legs, malnutrition, stunted growth, and more. Please do an insane amount of research before deciding to breed two birds together. It is best to get handfeeding lessons from a reputable breeder near you and know the ins and outs of handfeeding, weaning, and properly raising baby lovebirds. It is also important to have an emergency vet fund and have your avian vet on stand by incase anything were to happen to the parents and the babies. Please also keep in mind laying eggs does pose a risk for the mother bird, she could get egg bound, or suffer from other breeding related ailments.

Is it normal for lovebird perants to just leave the nest and go to another one? I think they abandoned thier 1 month babies

Based on your experience, can you tell me when I can begin hand-feeding my baby lovebird with a milk formula? I was just curious about it.
