Hi Brad! Your tutorial is by far the best one I have seen regarding this technique. Thank you so much! I have a question. I am involved in a quilting project which requires 96 hoopings. I have another small project which I will need to do before I can finish all 96 of the hoopings I am currently working on. How can I figure out where I am in the series of hoopings when I come back to this big project? I am keeping track of which number I am on as I go. I appreciate your help.
@EllicottCitySewVac

Yeah in retrospect I should have shown that. When you want to get back to the hooping you left it on you use the same icon you use to skip to a specific stitch, and you can use the arrow keys to skip to the specific hooping you need to go to. Just need to know what number you were on.

Instructors at Baby Lock said the 10” magnetic hoop should always be removed from the machine when rehooping because of its size it is too much stress on the arm to drag the fabric on it.
@EllicottCitySewVac
Жыл бұрын
Well I dunno, seems like it slides fine to me. Seems like the whole point of using this hoop is to be able to slide it. I didn't find that there was a huge amount of stress to move the magnets with a quilt sandwich. I could see if it were a single layer of fabric I guess.
@EllicottCitySewVac
Жыл бұрын
Looks like they are saying it's because you might move the arm and misalign your design, to which I say sure but you only live once :) I think it's worth the risk not to have to keep taking the hoop on and off.

Hello 👋 how are you doing today?
I like Celtic designs. Can I import those designs to edge to edge options?
Wow wow wow!!!! Thank you so much! 💓 Is there a way to bring up the bobbin thread to the quilt top like a long arm so you don't have all the thread snips on the back?

I couldn't figure out how to do it. You would have to turn off the tie in and tie out, but dont see a way to do that on the machine.

@@EllicottCitySewVac can you bring the bobbin thread up on top by hitting the needle up button. Very interesting video. I have the babylock altair and this is really tempting.
I think this video was wonderful very impressed. MarjoriePayne
Great video! I can't wait for my upgrade to come in! I have a question. What if you can't finish all the hoopings in one go, and have to turn the machine off and come back to it later. Are your settings and location on the quilt saved so they can be called up again?

yes it remembers plus you can skip through the steps if you need to (like if you don't hit the right button when you turn it back on and it doesn't resume)

@@EllicottCitySewVac Thanks! That’s terrific!
How do U take the tape off?
Is there a way to bring in a different design?
I know you’re trying to sell the babylock magnetic hoops now that they’re available, but as some of us bought the dime hoops when they were hyped, how much different are they?

It's easier to keep the quilt square with the new baby lock ones. The Dime hoops do still work great though and are 100 times easier than using the normal hoops to do quilting on an embroidery machine.

Yeah in retrospect I should have shown that. When you want to get back to the hooping you left it on you use the same icon you use to skip to a specific stitch, and you can use the arrow keys to skip to the specific hooping you need to go to. Just need to know what number you were on.

Thank you! That worked very easily. I appreciate the quick response! @@EllicottCitySewVac
Hi Brad, great video! I watched your video while I was doing my first E2E on a small quilt sandwich! But I have a question…you said you were using the new magnetic 10x10 frame, but on the video during screen setup, you selected the 10 5/8 x 10 5/8 frame. Why did you do that?

Hello 👋 how are you doing today?
Will this only work with the built in designs, or can you import another edge to edge design?
@EllicottCitySewVac

Just the 10 built in
If I am doing a 108 x 108 quilt do I put the backing material on then the batting and pin the top before I begin? Thanks newbie

yes that's right just make sure you don't run over a pin, good luck
One question. Why are you embroidering over the tape?
great video; thank you so much. I'm just wondering why you don't just baste the outside edges with the sewing function, rather than use tape? The need for an edge treatment is the same as when longarming and longarmers always baste.

Is there a way to use edge to edge designs that are not built into the machine? Also is there a way to import a fill into IQ designer?

No you can't add edge to edge designs, yes you can import fills into iq if you have a vision or upgrade 3.
Is it possible to use any edge to edge design, or do we have to use those in the machine? Tahnk you

Just the 10 in the machine
Does this process work with E to E designs that I've purchased? I have dozens and want to use them.

Nope but you can still use the projector and hoop it just wont bring each design up for ya

@@EllicottCitySewVac well that's unfortunate - BL doesn;t have nearly the variety of E to E that is available from other digitizers. Maybe they will add designs to their library one of these days, or at least allow you to use the same awesome features with imported designs - one or the other
Can you do edge to edge quilting with my BL Vesta?
@EllicottCitySewVac
Жыл бұрын
yes you can you wont have the features this video shows though
I refer to this each time I used the quilting function of the Solaris. I still can’t quite get the started point in the right place. Even though the projector is showing it in the right position.

I hear ya its not 100%. Turn your handwheel and see where the needle enters the fabric, then you can kinda mentally adjust for how far its off each iteration
How do you know that your tape is straight though?
@EllicottCitySewVac

basting it is definitely a better option it has been pointed out to me
I would use spray adhesive instead of pins. Much more stable

Yup i would too if i did it again but someone else prepared it for me
Instructors at Baby Lock said the 10” magnetic hoop should always be removed from the machine when rehooping because of its size it is too much stress on the arm to drag the fabric on it.
@EllicottCitySewVac

Well I dunno, seems like it slides fine to me. Seems like the whole point of using this hoop is to be able to slide it. I didn't find that there was a huge amount of stress to move the magnets with a quilt sandwich. I could see if it were a single layer of fabric I guess.
@EllicottCitySewVac

Looks like they are saying it's because you might move the arm and misalign your design, to which I say sure but you only live once :) I think it's worth the risk not to have to keep taking the hoop on and off.
don't get very much tape with the kimber bell
