This is the way to do it. Try a few bites, then stop and give them something they like. I get really sad when I see parents giving their babies big spoonfuls of something they hate. Traumatizing their own child. . Good job to all of you.

SOOOOOO many opinions!!! Listen up people: it’s all great advice but this baby is in grade school by now. Also, that’s what parents need to do... figure it out! Baby was already eating solids so trying this was right on track. Yes it was a little thick but I’m sure she remedied that. Eighty percent of our taste comes from smell so holding the spoon close to HIS nose doesn’t matter. Pediatricians today are saying that as early as four months is good to introduce solids! His reaction to the food, the gagging, isn’t necessarily because he doesn’t like it but because he has to get used to the texture in his mouth and on the back of his palate. FUN FACTS! HOORAY 😁 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼💫

I mean that’s how we learn from each other, and YT is definitely a forum where we all put our two sense in! Lol. Yes this child is older now, but there will be many new moms who will watch these baby videos to gather info for their new baby. I’m sure, as you say, these parents figured it out along the way from trial and error. Unfortunately I’ve noticed that some people don’t have any common sense though; they could have a video on YT of their 4th child, for example, and Still they’ve not improved, so I guess it’s all relative, huh? Lol Some learn, some don’t! Peace

You can't give water to babies. A little sip of breastmilk (expressed) or formula would be better..

Kala Dwarakanath if a baby is old enough to eat baby food, they are old enough for water. Very common for babies to drink water when eating baby food.

@@terryb8681 no, when they are first starting out on baby food, most are not old enough to drink water yet. I’m an RN who’s worked in a pediatric doctors office for 20 years now, so I do know a thing or two about the subject.

The sweet potatoes in a baby food jar is not that thick it's a little smoother so the baby will be able to swallow and digest it

Making it thinner so it would be easier for him to eat. When people make their own baby food, they add breast milk or formula more often then not to get it to the right consistency. You either don’t have children or never made homemade baby food. It’s much better for baby and has less preservatives then store bought baby food.

Who knew!! Incidentally, I do have children. I breastfed both. Neither ever had any formula or one spoonful of store-bought baby food as I always made my own. I'm fairly certain I did a great job and I really hope my parenting skills meet up to your high standards. I did not appreciate your rude comments. Why don't u think twice before coming on to youtube to insult fine people like myself?

Whatssmattah with you? I have seen many youtube babies sadly tripping, falling, choking, sneezing, puking but I think it takes the parents by surprise and they laugh. Do you have children and if so, haven't you ever laughed at their crazy little selves? The parents here are warm and validating their child's experience. It'll be awright ☺

Roberta, they are not laughing AT the baby. They are just enjoying his cute little expressions. Parents find it amusing. Babies make these faces because they find all these new tastes very strong compared to breastmilk/formula.
