People need to get a grip and calm down! This is NOT abuse! People misuse the term so much that when you do see actual abuse, you don't recognize it. There is nothing abusive or harmful going on here! This is an infant swim class, and all the instructor is doing is using the infants instincts to teach him to float. This practice keeps the baby from panicking when in the water and could save it from drowning. The child is not traumatized in ANY WAY and will NOT develop a fear of water from this. Quite the opposite! Most fears children develop are introduced to the child by the parents projecting their fears onto their children. Parents cause 3/4 of the psychological trauma that a child grows up with, that is a proven scientific fact. Parents have stopped allowing kids to be the durable little people that they are by turning them into spastic nerve bags of fear. Now THAT is abuse. I am a clinical psychologist, have been for many years, and I have more clients that were ruined by their parents than from any other part of their environment. I don't know why other people seem to think it is their job to police how others raise their children while they're f***ing up their own! Mind your business and don't be surprised in a few years when this kid is swimming circles in the pool while yours is screaming and crying, up your a** and afraid of it's own shadow. You're also the same people that when you can identify real abuse and neglect, you turn a blind eye and don't "wanna get involved". You'll advise people on social media, but when faced with reality you're suddenly not so opinionated. Did I leave anything out???

My baby had swimming classes at 6 months classes . At 11 mos crawled in pool after pool gate was left open, we found him floating on back kicking his little feet with the biggest smile , he had flipped over on his back , I’m so glad I had all 3 of my baby’s in swimming lessons ,

The baby is NOT stressed nor did they swallow a ton of water. This is survival swimming and isn't abusive at all. The child isn't traumatized or tortured. This skill can keep them from drowning if they fall into water. Children don't automatically know how to float on their back and can drown quite quickly when face down. This way baby learns to turn and float then kick to the side of the pool.

Swimming lessons should be mandatory for all children regardless of whether they live in coastal areas or have a pool in their backyard. At some point in life they may need to swim their way out of a situation and those lessons will come in handy and save their lives. 💦 Too many people die by drowning, especially children who are unaware of the dangers of water 💦

This saves so many lives. We do many things that are in our kids best interest that they fuss and struggle with, but we get weird about this. If people only understood the number of children that drown every year and how low that number goes when they learn how to swim as babies. And rarely can negligence be used as a reason. Years in ER... Nearly every child drowning...the child had good parents. I know it's hard to watch, but people just don't get it

@@kateorwell7203 What video are you watching? The baby is not distressed, panicking, or fighting for it's life. It is learning a valuable life- saving skill. Did you notice how he went right on his back and started to float? Did you know the mother of this child lost a previous child to a drowning accident? There is nothing wrong or traumatic going on here. This child will have no fear of water, and will be more independent because of it. When she picked the child up, he didn't make a sound. Does that sound like a traumatized child to you? Parents project their fears on their children and give them more psychological problems than teaching them life skills ever does. I have never had one client say, "My mom put me in infant swim classes and I have had trauma ever since". It doesn't happen. Meanwhile, a child that is abused or neglected lives right down the street from you, or in school with your kid and you ignore that. Let us professionals worry about the psychological impact of these activities, and you keep projecting your irrational thinking on your kids and the people around you. It's people like you that keep my appointment book full.

Why? Um gee, maybe it is because infants have a natural instinct to swim and float which makes this the best time to introduce them to water? Or should we wait a few years so you can project all of your neurotic fears on them and make it traumatic for them. The baby isn't even crying when she brings him out of the water. Waiting a few more years defeats the purpose of training a child to float in water and not panic, which is what keeps them from drowning. I guess we'll just hope he doesn't fall into water between now and then, right? The mother in this situation is being proactive, she's already lost a child to a drowning accident.

@@beatrizacevesherrera7551 No, you are stupid to think that way. She knows what she is doing, she doesn't intervene until she needs to. She doesn't care? I mean she must, given that she has made a career out of teaching people to swim. And who are you to say what the mother is saying or doing at this time? Do you see her? Is she supposed to run over and stop it because the baby is swallowing some water learning to float? So yeah, let's go there...the mother lost a child to an accidental drowning so she is being proactive and making sure that this child is being taught to swim. I think the act of drowning is more traumatic than being taught to float. The baby is not panicking, and panic is the number one reason people of all ages drown. Someone that is comfortable in the water is less likely to panic. So no, the coach nor the mother are stupid. They are very smart. You, on the other hand are not.

Do you REALLY think that anyone would take you seriously if you called the cops about a YT video that is more than a year old and has been seen by thousands and thousands of people? Do you know how crazy you would sound? This is NOT child abuse. Just because something that you teach a child makes them uncomfortable does not make it abuse. People like you that cry abuse at every little thing make me sick. Abuse is a very strong word that needs to be used with more respect and not spouted out at every little thing. You know what else makes me sick? People like you that will threaten to call the cops over a video that you are obviously too stupid to understand, yet there's probably a child close by that's being abused or neglected and you don't call the cops or get help. You'll throw your weight around on social media, but when it's right in your face you'll turn a blind eye. Then after something happens, you'll be the idiot being interviewed on the news oblivious to what was going on right next door. Why? Because you're too busy living in your little delusional social media world. I'm a Behavioral Therapist and people like you scare me. You scare me because you are so out of touch with reality yet you think you have enough power, or the right, to mess with the livelihood of good parents. The parent of the baby in this video put her baby in this class because she lost another child in a drowning accident. Did you know that? Of course not! God forbid you have all of the information to make an informed decision. Get your head out of your ass and more importantly, out of other people's business....

Not learning how to swim: learning how to get to a floating position- a baby or toddler who can float on his back can breathe. A baby who can breathe can also make noise. A baby who slips silently into a pool or canal and sinks to the bottom is often not found in time. Part of this instruction also is that there is no substitute for supervision but accidents occur .
