Baby Capybara Squeaking
Үй жануарлары мен аңдар
For more information on pet capybaras, please see my blog at www.GiantHamster.com. In this video, Mudskipper Rous an 11-day-old male capybara is squeaking his little head off for no apparent reason.
Update: He turned out to be a she. Rodents are hard to sex. She is now three years old. She is a sweet capybara but very timid and skittish. She's up to 140 lbs.

Guinea pigs are related to these Amazonian giants (I was being a bit dramatic for capybara are not very big) and yet they get scared of their squeaking.

I see you all just searched up Capybaras too🗿
My friend had one of these, he called me over to whistle so she could calm down. Apparently I could imitate its squeak and now everytime I visit it runs at me.
Translation: OK I PULL UP
It sounds like it's whistling! It's too cute!!
Life can be so bittersweet. ... This may have been the day/hour that he realized: His mommy wasn't going to find him. (If she had been able to hear him, she would have come running.) But he had you to love him, and he was lucky to have someone that would create as comfortable and safe and loved world as you have given him.
I think it's calling out for its mother. It seems like it knows its mother should be close to it, so it is anxious.
Ok i pull up! Baby version
He's calling for his mama
Coconut doggo
He's saying, "Hey human, where's my mum?"
ok I pull up
he pulled up fo sho
Looking and calling for mom and/or littermates, capybaras are social animals and should really have the company of their own species available for optimal welfare. Most human caregivers are not with a capybara 24/7 and it is quite stressful for them to be alone.
This is what I use to make sure I have been brushing my teeth for two minutes. And let me tell you, it is very enjoyable.
They sound exactly like guinea pigs I love it
probably wanted its mom :( poor little thing aw....

That's not a reason why a baby capybara would cry or send out a call. It's either seeing something looking predatory to it so it's sending a distress call or a call that lets it's other members know danger is near by. But that doesn't always mean it's panicking or scared of something. It's just in their instincts to make sounds. Baby animals being well taken care of won't study where it's biological mom is. Puppies, baby hamsters, baby guinea pigs, kittens and birds are some examples that won't care it's gone from it's mom as long they're being well taken care. Especially! If they were captive bred.

He is alone! Take good care of him, this are very loveable animals and nurse children like we do, like elephants do, he needs a mom
I thought they say i pull up hop out at the after party
if its a baby with 1-3 weeks old its doing that probably calling for his mother.
Maybe he is upset because is mom is gone!
This yipping, for calling to the herd, is typical of rodents, especially prairie dogs. It's instinctive, but not always a sign of panic. Sometimes it's just announcing their location to one another. For an 11 day-old capy though, it would be, obviously like in the video, progressively distressing.
In capybara this roughly translates to "ok i pull up hop out at the after party you and all your friends yea they like to get naughty"

Such adorable noises.
I love how capybara babys are litterally just scaled down adults
I don’t know why but I can’t accept that these amazing little guys existed before this year
Omg I love this smol thing's squeaky little voice
Er. Babies always have a reason for crying/being vocal. While there are many reasons for squeaking, when a baby capy is plaintively squeaking repeatedly like this, it most often is wanting its mommy to find it. Lost without it's mamabara. All rodents do this. This is what the baby rodents do when lost and in need to be found by their mom. Sorry it is probably not what you would wish to hear, but it is true. ... I love them enough I wish i had a whole family of them, but I would not wish for any baby to be separated from its parent while still so young and while still nursing. But it is not squeaking like that for no apparent reason.
People in the comment section jumping to conclusions about it missing it's Mom... You guys are annoying and should very well do your research before jumping to false conclusions
I would love to pick him up and cuddle him.
Aww sweet precious baby❤️
