People need to stop being so rude about the cavities. Some people are just prone to them. My brother eats sugar and soda and brushes his teeth for literally 10 seconds with no toothpaste and he hasn't gotten one cavity. On the other hand, I brush my teeth twice, sometimes 3 times a day, with lots of toothpaste for the full two minutes and get cavities. It's just based on how strong your teeth are.

OMG! That's exactly like me! I brush 2 times in the morning with the perfect amount of toothpaste and take about 3 minutes per brush but I always get cavities! Then both of my brothers bush only at night with little toothpaste and don't even brush right! And they only take a minute to brush! But when we go to the dentist I'm the only one with cavities! They say I brush perfectly good but I still have cavities. And with my brothers they say "Oh he's perfectly fine no cavities. Just need to work on his flossing." Ugh I get really annoyed and my parents are thinking of putting me on no sugar for about a month. Ugh!

I am a dental hygienist. It's so important to brush your child's teeth for them. Let them do it on their own first, but then go in again because kids that young lack the dexterity necessary to do a proper job. Also, fluoridated water is also helpful. Brushing is the number 1 thing though. Brush, brush, brush!

ashley johnson As a person who wants children in the future I agree completely! I've been doing my research. Since your in the field, may I ask if my idea of using an infant/toddler electric toothbrush is a good idea? It has different brushes including one for gum stimulation and a mirror to cheek the teeth. I've also found a fluoride free toothpaste and I've found a great website for candy made with xylitol because to much sugar is bad just as much as fluoride in the early years.

Some people(especially kids), have cavities underneath the gum where you can't see, and it's not even sugar that makes the cavities occur, but I don't know if that's the case.

when i had to have my tonsils out when i was six i would cry for my mum and dad. As i hate operations i would refuse to let them put me asspeel and the same for the dentist to. But now i am 29 i am getting into acting how cool is that huh.
