Baby bear macaque (stump-tailed macaque) rescue June 29
Our new Laos rescue is an orphaned BEAR MACAQUE (or stump-tailed macaque), a species VULNERABLE TO EXTINCTION. This tiny baby monkey was rescued by our government partners. Her mother had been killed by poachers and she had been sold to be kept as an exotic pet, a common story. As she is so young she requires hands-on care until she is strong and healthy enough that we can try to integrate her into a group of monkeys, and hopefully release them back to a protected forest where they will be safe. Watch more of her journey here: • Helen the BEAR MACAQUE...
Free the Bears is in Australian not-for-profit wildlife conservation charity operating rescued bear (and other wildlife) sanctuaries across Asia, as well as initiating programs to educate about wildlife conservation, strengthen wildlife laws and enforcement, and change consumer attitudes. We're a small grass roots charity doing big things.
But, we struggle each month to get by - please donate a small amount or better still, register as a monthly donor - even a few dollars a month adds up and will help us survive as well as continue in our mission to protect, preserve and enrich the lives of wildlife. www.freethebears.org

OMG so cute! Just want to hug that baby!😍😍
To all people who desperately want a baby monkey, to love it and take care of it: "they don't stay that tiny!!! They grow fast! Get uncontrollable, messy, nasty and stink to heaven. You cannot bath or diaper them anymore because they won't let you!!! " People in the countries were monkeys live, abandone them when they outgrow their cuteness, what will you do??? Use your brain.

We couldn't agree with you more. Wild animals DO NOT make pets. As you very correctly point out, people who take wildlife as babies soon find out that they should not be kept in captivity (and often either kill them or put them in a cage for life, or try to release them which ends in their death). Wildlife for sale should always be reported to authorities and orphaned babies should be taken to authorized rescue centers. In this case (as with most of the animals we rescue) the mother was killed by poachers and then the baby sold into the illegal wildlife trade. She was so small, malnourished and dehydrated when our government partners rescued her that she required human care for an initial period to burst her back to health.. But as soon as possible we were able to place her with a monkey family. We hope she may be able to be released back to safe and protected forest in the future. Here's more of her story: kzread.info/dash/bejne/aoGtyMaof9Dbmaw.html
It's light colored fur makes it so cute

So cute and great personality. 🍡🍭😀💛👶🧡💖
They are also known as ugly monkeys 😢 Which I am a lover of the stumpies. 🤗
Great Aussie charity.....keep up the good work guys :)
Thank god please look after her ❤❤❤❤❤
There seem to be a lot of baby bear macaques cropping up on u tube.i have only been watching about 2 months. Is this a new fad.? Or did I just not see any until about a month ago?Keep getting more and more. Seem more delicate than other pigtails or long tails. They are cute when little but not a big fan of when they reach adulthood saw a few. Are people going to get rid of when big? Oh boy!!i guess they do any other species too. So heartbreaking.Just worried.

Yes, I feel sorry for Gon. He looks so depressed and sickly and now he has an injured leg. They now have Miu who is not a bear macaque and a new baby, Bo not sure what he is. She said she is taking care of it for a friend. I think it was stolen from its mother. Looks less than 2 weeks old. The couple that have these babies have several channels on you tube and seem to be doing it just for the money.

Susan Wease Then stop watching them bc that’s what is helping them to get money! No one does YT for free unless it’s a nonprofit organization bc there is a lot of work into having a YT channel!

They get dumped or just 'disappear' when too big and strong , and don't forget the size of their fangs.....huge and sharp. No love for these babies ...it's all about the YT $$$$.....the mothers fight to protect their newborns to the death ( her death )....it is criminal
Do you know what I would love to see is a Stump-Tailed Macaque baby and a Black Crested Macaque baby together because the visual of the white and black fur would be cool to see.

You see a lot of this breed lately. Use to be pigtails but looks like a lot of these on u tube. Where are people going to DUMP these. Oh I mean release these stump tails when they get older. Seems like a lot of males. Can’t let go in with pig tails and long tails can they? Males are just to hairy and big and red faced than females. Not cute anymore. They are really cute little buggers when little babies.

Is this the species of macaque that Doo is?
Where are you located? What organization are you with? Is there a video that gives an update on the stump tail baby and info on your nonprofit?

Hi, If you click on the links in our home page or within the video you'll go to our home page, or alternatively please go to www.freethebears.org or you can even google Free the Bears to learn more. I haven't made an update video yet as we have very limited staff and resources working 24/7 to help rescue and care for animals. Update will be coming soon.

I want one of these little babies, it would have lots of love 💘and attention. I don't have any children so one of these precious babies would be like my child. I love them, they are so precious.

Hi free, so do you know about this breed? My friend has one. A male looks like the one in the video. Cares for it like her own baby. She lives in a remote village in Vietnam. She took him to the vet about 5 weeks ago. Oh and he is about 3 mos old I will guess. They didn't know monkeys at this vet. The problem is the little guys penis is out. All the time. It doesn't look like the little bears I've seen on KZread. It's big and Red and out . He wears a diaper when insids. The vet said maybe infected, sold her cream. It's still the same! Doesn't seem to hurt him. he gets baths regularly . There are no other vets. No exotic animal vet. She doesn't have a lot of money. This is vietnam, not in a city .What if anything do you suggest to help ? Ty

Is it possible for her to get him to a more experienced vet in the city?

I'd suggest your friend contact a rescue centre with expertise in primates in Vietnam, such as EPRC (www.eprc.asia) or an organisation familiar with wildlife for example Save Vietnam's Wildlife www.svn.vn and hand the monkey over. Wild animals should NEVER be kept as 'pets'. Besides requiring species specific care, this animal will soon likely become strong and dangerous, it should be with a sanctuary who will be able to care for it properly and may even be able to arrange a release back to the forest where it belongs.

Dont. They become unmanageable once they reach adolescence... rather support an accreditated rehabilitation project.
Wrong type of bear, ma'am.
