That's not unusual. Although I will say to Dads out there, don't get upset if he doesn't know you instantly-Mom has had a headstart!! One of the first things that happens in the womb and hearing develops is that baby first hears the sound of his mothers heartbeat- it is LOUD. It is a little harder to hear Daddy because most of the time his voice is muffled: baby can hear you better if you talk close, not from 3 feet away. (Your voice naturally has a lower frequency than your wife's. If he could say anything to you before his birth, it would be "Speak up, you are too low and far away-I only get to hear fragments!!" Do not panic!! It is coming! Studies show that your little one will prefer your voice to all other male voices by the time he is two months at the latest. (they played a recording of the father reading twinkle twinkle little star. They also had completely unrelated men do the same thing-baby would always wiggle/try to move towards the tape recorder that was Dad's voice. Baby will let you catch up, and quickly. He will know you by the scent of your skin; he knows you have bigger hands than Mommy, (this is how he knows who is picking him up) and he will know about Daddy's scratchy beard. All of this adds up: "I am with Daddy. I am safe. I am well. I am loved. The muffled sounds I heard make sense now; I thought it was you. I am going to take a nap on your chest now. Hope you notice I calm down when I hear you-it means I am attaching emotionally."

It's so so sad how mother's are obligated to give up breastfeeding for work these days due to the rising cost of living. That's a very precious time with your baby and NO ONE or NOTHING should be allowed to take it away ❤️

@@_ollie_lol I was given maternity leave of 2 months which is considered quite generous in the states. But only 2 of 12 months that a baby's main source of food is breast milk. When I went back to work it was very difficult to be away from the baby and give up breast feeding. The bottle is a lot easier for babies to use and so in my case my baby no longer wanted to breast feed after the bottle was introduced. It's a terrible feeling, but bills got to be paid. 😢

13:00 be mindful that this advice is mostly for women who plan to go back to work and won’t be able to nurse. A baby can NOT be spoiled by “nursing too much” and there is no harm in a baby “using their mother as a pacifier”- they are seeking comfort and bonding that the nutrient rich breast milk easily provides. ❤️

I’m interested in this because I was abandoned by my bio mother at birth and was cared for by a care taker. I don’t know what relationship they had with the family. I was adopted off to MY PARENTS at 8 weeks. I say “real” because anyone that’s adopted would understand that, your mother was the one that feed you, changed your diaper and cared for you when you where sick and took care of you at least the first 18 years of your life or tell you left home. Just cause someone ay have carried you for 9 months or tell birth, doesn’t always make them your mother. My mother raised me those 18 years to the best of her ability. I’ve been told this is where my abandonment issues may stem from. However I have such a spiritual and emotional connection with my mother who raised me its crazy, It still fascinates me how we think a like, think of each other at the same time (located on different sides of the country) and how she and I can sense things about each other when something is wrong.

I'm 8 weeks pregnant with my. Very first child! So excited and so damn nauseous 🙄😭 It will all be worth it! Edit: I had my baby boy on September 16th. He was 8lbs 1oz and he is the love of my life!🐻💙 Edit: 4/2/23 He is now 18 months, walking, talking, and busy as heck! Love my baby! Edit: 11/13/23 My baby is 2 years old! He is still a busy body, so smart, and speaks full sentences. He'll say, "I wan it aww" for "I want it off" and "phone" sounds like "moan" but we still rocking and rolling! 🤣He loves lights, football, and PJ Mask.💙

I am 60 years old. When I was a young woman, I made the conscious decision that I did not want to have children. Recently, I found myself watching baby videos here on KZread, enthralled, and reflecting about how maybe I would have liked to have a child or two. About the same time, I found out I had low grade uterine cancer and I had a hysterectomy two months ago. They got all the cancer, but also found that my ovaries and fallopian tubes had been infected for what was likely decades. My surgeon told me I probably would not have been able to bear children. So, I keep watching these beautiful newborn videos, mourning a loss that was really never a loss. And yet ....

Just a suggestion, but I think that you could volunteer to work in a daycare or kindergarten, to fill that void in your heart. Days on which my kids were born were a most beautiful days of my love. Kids are such a blessing. And it is so important to spend every minute of the newborn baby's life with them. Unfortunately our country doesn't allow for us to give our kids the love and care they deserve, cause we all have to go back to work as soon as possible. We don't have any programs to support new parents financially. Children are the future of this country. Parents should get financial support from the government to be there for their children especially in such a crucial time like a first year of their life.
