I'm from Canada, I am Tsuut'ina, Siksika, and Kainai. I'm transgender male(Female to Male and Bisexual) 17 year old, and I would love to attend there next year. I've wanted to dance where I won't get judge because of my gender and sexual identity, and feel welcomed and proud of who I am.

Two spirit is the term they coined in 1990 to generalize the gender non conforming people of many indigenous tribes. Before the Europeans came and forced Christianity many of the tribes had their own words for those who did not align with the gender binary and they were accepted. Although two spirit is used colloquially as a term for lgbtq indigenous people it is not related to sexuality per se. A two spirit person and a person of either gender is not in a gay relationship with this person because the two spirit person is not male or female. It was spiritual rather than sexual or who you loved. Because a two spirit person is both female and male from my understanding they are the equivalent of bi or multi/pan gender. A form of non-binary, but not agender which also falls under the umbrella term. Some people believe that they can also claim the term despite not being indigenous, though I don’t know why they would when they have the bi-gender term.
