Tienes razon. Yo vivo en Estados Unidos y trabajo en State Farm. I always get “hablas español?” at least couple times a month and decided to learn. Yo también quiero viajar en países hispanohablantes! I tried to write what I can in Spanish, I am understanding way more than what I can say at the time

I actually have a coworker whos fluent in several languages but looking at him you'd never think that he could speak Spanish and it was him that inspired me to try to start learning because just as you say, everytime he speaks Spanish or any of his other languages people are shocked and awe inspired. Also as a manager, I know we have hired one person over another simply because they are bilingual. So that can be the deciding factor in the hiring process even if you might be otherwise less qualified.

Vivo en California y aquí se habla mucho español, pero cuando hablo con hablantes nativos en español por lo general me responden en inglés. Sin embargo, si primero les digo que estoy aprendiendo español, estarán más que felices de hablar en español conmigo. Tengo muchas ganas de iniciar un grupo de conversación en español en mi comunidad para alentar a más personas a aprender español

Soy canadiense y es increíble saber que hay más hablantes españoles en USA que hay ciudadanos en Canadá

Nunca he visitado EEUU, soy británico pero en un montón lugares en España cuando hablé en español la gente muy amable. Y en León, Ourense y Córdoba me dieron las cervezas, los vinos, las tapas gratis fue de puta madre!

Llevo cuatro meses estudiando español y entendí casi todo de este video. Me encanta la idioma y quiero poder hablar con las personas de españa, cuando viajo allí. :)

Thank you for the video. I never studied Spanish but I have learned a lot over many years while working in and traveling Central America. When people ask where I learned I reply “solamente escucho y luego hablo” My vocabulary is pretty good but I have very little knowledge of grammar. I can have fairly good conversations with 2 year old children because we have the same ability. Three and four year old children speak much better than I do.

Solo deseo que había visto futbol cuando era in escuela. Desde 2012, cuando comenzaba ver futbol (Forza Inter!), me he convertido mucho más interesado en otros idiomas. He estudado español, portugués, francés, y otros. Mi escribindo, todavía, no está muy bien, pero entendí...la mayoría de este video, con los subtitulos. (Yo incluso entendí cuando vos usado "vos" conjugación!)

Los hispanohablantes se sorprenden bastante cuando se dan cuenta de que me encantan las novelas mexicanas. Pero, es verdad. If loving Fernando Colunga and Jorge Salinas is wrong, I don't want to be right, lol! I'm still learning and my grammar sucks, but the novelas have helped my Spanish comprehension a lot.

Augustina made several very good demographic points, and provides a major, good rationale for learning Spanish in the US. However, an issue that college professors are noting here in the US is that many of the young Hispanic college students who speak Spanish daily at home and on campus have poor grammar and have no clue how to spell some common words (e.g. writing "ola" for "hola"). This is not really their fault, since there seems to be pressure to become fluent in English and they never take a Spanish course, ever. Thus, their Spanish is almost entirely verbal. Furthermore, the demographic reality is that their family is frequently not highly educated, and the language at home is not necessarily the best. I hope this can change, with more of them taking at least a couple of Spanish course along with the non-Hispanic students, which would be beneficial to both groups. As for me, I admire anyone who can handle two languages well, and am trying to catch up by becoming fully bilingual, but it is a humbling path. I also fully concur with the other comment in this thread, giving the Goethe quote: „Quien no conoce las lenguas extranjeras nada sabe de la suya propia.“ - Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. I find my English spelling improving as I study Spanish.

I’m right at around the level of starting intermediate videos (142 hours) and found this video very comprehensible except for the big number. My brain breaks when I hear big numbers.

If you can speak both Spanish and English you can converse with more than half the people on this planet, because these 2 languages are spoken by so many people as either their first or second language.

Tan muchas personas que hablan solo español y no ingles en los Estados Unidos es un problema. Yo aprendo español para usar cuando viajando en países latinos. Si yo viviera en un pais donde la gente hablan español, aprendería y hablaría aun mas espanol. Los hispanohablantes que se mudan a los Estados Unidos deben mostrar el mismo respeto

For listening comprehension at level B1 the speed of the Spanish should be at it's natural speed. It would be great if Spanish people talked at that speed. Sadly in real life it's not the case.

I think the idea is to force your brain to do the work of listening. Since children learn to speak exclusively by listening. They only read later. That’s just my opinion though.

Hay muchas hispanoblantes aqui en nueva york... pero en mi experiencia, cuando un gringo les habla español, me responden en ingles. No quieren compartir la idioma con nosotros. Es mejor viajar un pais donde no pueden hablar ingles, asi tienen que hablar español conmigo.

Eso de encontrar trabajar con mejor pago no es así. Te pagan por las habilidades no por los idiomas hablados. Claro puedes ayudar a mas gente pero no es lo mismo. Las compañías no te dan mejor sueldo por tu idioma. Por lo menos yo tengo amigos bilingües en diferentes ocupaciones profesionales y no les pagan mas por saber dos idiomas

Les aconsejo escuchar a diferentes tipos de acentos porque yo soy de Mexico, Mi acento es como norteno, Cuando hablo hablo bien rapido pero depende como me sienta Espanol Estandard Para donde vas? Espanol no estandard(mi acento) Onde vas? O puedo preguntar en el pasado onde fuiste?

Ella no puede pronunciar "yo".Dijo " shooo" en lugar de" yo".

When she says "español," the /s/ doesn't doesn't even turn into an interdental [ɵ], but more like a velar fricative [x]. That's so weird. How does a sibilant become a velar fricative? Are they going to start spelling it egpañol or expañol? :-) I find it a bit disturbing.

el video es un poco confuso porque usas -jerga argentina- sho=șo = Yo, ayuda =ashuda, llama = shama. Para los alumnos que han aprendido castellano es difícil de seguir. El contenido fue interesante. Gracias

This is an intermediate-level video so it's not meant to be fast. That's why they offer advanced which is faster, or you can just watch any Spanish content at that point.

Puede cambiar la velocidad del video. De un click en el rincón derecho arriba y cambie de Normal a 1.25 o 1.5. Yo disfruto vídeos incluso del nivel para principiantes sobre los temas que me interesen (Como La vida de Frida Calo), escogiendo velocidad 1.5.
