I like anything designed by Paul Barton. He understands room acoustics and wave launch geometry better than most loudspeaker engineers including B&W.

Bi-wiring is a worthless feature for a speaker in this price range. The PSBs are more accurate and natural sounding. The B and Ws have somewhat peaky and fatiguing highs. Although the B and W's may have more detail, the PSBs are more musical. B and Ws have a characteristic sound with a recessed midrange and exaggerated highs. In other words, they are very colored. They may be better from a "hi fi" point of view but the PSBs are more musical to me. I believe a more "discerning ear" will go with the PSBs. The PSBs are less expensive to boot.

Good advice

I’ve always liked speakers with the mid woofer on top. It seems to allow more of a sense of time coincidence as the sound arrives more together rather than the highs arriving first.

Tharbamar I really enjoy your reviews and taste in music. Could you tell me which, in your opinion, speaker you have heard is the most fitting choice for hard rock and heavy metal music?

Klipsch or JBL or JBL or Klipsch 😎, If I only listen to hard rock or heavy metal nothing can touch them in any given comparable price range. Those are only two brand that I like with rock music, that’s why I couldn’t sell my JBL 590.

looks like Mission LX2 (psb)

I always like the sound of the b&ws but you have to find the perfect match amplifier because if you don’t it will be in the bright side. I using mine with a threshold S/500 and sound great.

It’s very good but you will need a sub.

I wish you would do a review on the 606 models of the Bowers And Wilkins line they have the 6 1/2 woofer And maybe even more comparable specifically in regards to offer size to the other speakers that you for mentioned in this review there is definitely a game between the 606 compared to the 607 a definite step up in my opinion and it would be worth a listen I think by you good review

PSB is the better between these 2. It's more accurate and better imaging. B & W struggles at controling highs

You say that you are not a fan of the B&W 607s, for the reproduction of Heavy Metal/Modern Rock/Pop. Could you please be more specific? Is this because of the music itself? Is it really not because of the music itself, but rather, more because of what those people are likely to use to drive these speakers with, ie., cheap AV receivers, and the like?

I wonder why PSB didn't make a 6.5" driver version. Are there really that many people are buying 4" driver bookshelf speakers?

Hi, is the P5 better than Wharfedale 225? I have owned the 225s for about an year and they are a bit boring with rock and dance music.

May be you should try Klipsch RP series or JBL Stage series which will be great with your music, P5 is good all around speakers but it can’t rock hard as Klipsch or JBL speakers.

Hi Tharbamar..Auditioned extensively for about a month. My thoughts. Klipsch(blaring). jbl(non - neutral). dali zensor 3(dry, no feel). monitor audio B2(too sharp). q acoustics(smooth but lean). FINALLY chose the Dali Spektor 2. These Inexpensive, small, non flashy speakers seemed to hit the sweet spot for me... Sound signature was lush with a lot of feel, not bright by any means. Low end is just right - good for music after about 30 hours of burn in. If i could have a con - the mids were so so very slightly recessed. Not a deal breaker for me. I can live with them for a few years with a happy face. Pls review them if you could. I would like to hear your opinion on them.

have you ever heard the PSB Imagine Mini? How does it compare to the B&W 607 for sound quality

I no the b&ws sound proper good with that music as that what i likenut you need the right amp they need loads of power or the dont sound right , i give mine 150wpc with a nad power amp and sounds like theres subs in the room

It depends on what you are looking for. If detail is the most important thing for you, you will prefer the B and Ws. However, the PSBs are more accurate, coherent, and natural sounding. They will be less fatiguing in the long run. If you listen to classical, jazz, and other acoustic music, you will definitely prefer the PSBs. If you listen mostly to rock, you will probably prefer the B and Ws, since they are more shouty and in your face. You should also take into account that the PSBs are $250 cheaper.

@@Tharbamar I was just thinking the same thing. Now I have a problem. I will use the "emotive basx a-100" as an amplifier for the "Bowers & Wilkins 607", and as DAC a Fiio player. Do you think they make a good hi-fi team?

The PSB is a good value, but the Bowers are blowing them away .

I have never liked BW speakers - airy yes, thin and bright yes
