Wow, thanks you so much for posting this!!! I have fond memories of playing in the Champaign Urbana Illinois Symphony in the 70's. Szekely was friends and colleagues with string faculty there and actually came to play this with the local community orchestra. I well remember, in rehearsal, this little unasuming kindly looking old man walked onto the stage with us, still carrying his violin case which he proceeded to unpack. We began, we heard the strumming of the harps from the other side of the orchestra, and suddenly this big bold luscious sound came soaring up out of Szekely's violin. Breathtaking. It was truly a great honor and privilege.Thank you.

Amazing, the original Bartok dedicatee, participating with the composition, who can do it better.

WOW, indeed. Never heard Szekely play this. It may lack the crackle of Rostal or the Menuhin flash, but I love this clean, very personal performance. I somehow always thought Szekely was old when the piece was actually written--now I know better. Many thanks.

@@Fritz_Maisenbacher Bartok was 58. Only a few years before his death.

@@jeanparke9373 Of course, Bartok was no more young at all at this time. How could I wrote such a stupidity ... ? I bought the vinyle of the first performance about 40 years ago, and I was already surprised that the "old" Bartok dedicated this mysterious piece to a so young violinist. (by the way, the performance of Szekely at this time is much better than this one ...)
