I'm the grandson of one of these children. My grandmother and 3 of her siblings were saved, one of her sisters went on and married an Indian soldier in the British forces. My extended family are all now in Pakistan. Sadly in the last 20 yrs we have lost everyone from this generation . I miss them all so very much, they were exceptional in every way! We will forever be grateful that our family was saved.

I was thinking the exact same thing. Imagine the vast multitudes of children who could be rescued by just American billionaires alone. They could start by rescuing the children in US Immigration detention. The political leaders contemporary to that time who were British colonialists in India were similar as are current political leaders. They denied the refugees. This Indian maharaja was able to get an exception because he sponsored all. Even now majority of refugees in Canada are privately sponsored. A Maharajah in true sense ❤

I heard about this on a documentary of India trying to get the Indian citizens out of Ukraine when the war started. They were talking about how they had to negotiate with different neighboring countries and one of them was Poland. Then someone mentions about about an Indian king took in kids from Poland and how that actually helped the Indian cause a few years ago.

Our ancestors sheltered not just polish but they sheltered jews without any anti-Semitism, they sheltered parasis who fled from iran !! We adopted all kinds of people who were persecuted despite we were fighting for our independence from britishers !! He bought polish teacher to teach and kept them connective to their roots, he didn't push his cultural values to the kids this shows he is the true human, who respects people and their essence with their culture ,traditions with humanity.

I am proud to be Bhaaratiya (Indian) and Sanaatani (Hindu)❤🕉..... Mahaaraajaa did what his Dharm said..... all the christian children returned safely from Bhaarat as christians because we Sanaatanis don't belive in conversions, but here in India christian missionaries are destroying our society and culture😢
