b.a.p is kinda known for battling societal issues through their music and mvs. for instance, badman is a song criticizing police brutality/especially in america against black ppl. wake me up is song spreading awareness about mental illness (eating disorders, body dysmorphia, addiction, etc) which is taboo to talk about in korea. thats why they display the “emotional revolution” signs in their mvs as they were quite literally doing this with their music

many believe this was the reason they were never able to break through to “mainstream” /locals outside their own audience bc their concepts were too heavy and emotional at that time; the topics they sing about were undertalked about and not the norm. even today, no kpop groups are battling the topics of gang violence/crime/mental illness/addiction/police brutality etc. as a normal comeback just like bap did. bap were also loved bc of their hiphop/rock influences: popping, krumping, rapping breakdance in their normal choreos: if you’re familiar with kpop u would know this is not common. anyway my personal favs of bap are their side tracks!!! they are even better!!

I always thought Badman was not just a criticism of police brutality, but black culture as well (at least, the toxic aspects of it) and that’s a hard take to swallow, when both sides are criticized, but it’s super forward thinking

Wake me up is actually about mental health/mental illnesses. This is so special as this marked Bang Yongguk's comeback after being in hiatus due to panic disorder.

Wake Me Up is a song I'll never forget. It's one of those songs I listenned to when I just got into kpop and it was fascinating. The song is still amazing to this day!

No matter how many songs, be it kpop or not, I listen to, Daehyung, Youngjae and Chen from EXO will be my favs forever They just stand out WAY too much for me, other's, especially new gen vocalists, are kinda similar to each other imo (no hate, just saying that for me those three are very special and have a distinct sound and feelings when listening to them)

@@june.e about new generation i think the same. They are good vocalists but i just don't feel something special when i hear them. I stan late 2 and mostly 3 generation groups. Despite the fact that I only started getting acquainted with K-pop at the end of 2018. Yes, EXO' Chen has angelic voice and so powerful at the same time. Also i really love BTOB vocal line. Sungjae's vocal tone is one of my most favorite along with Daehyun's vocals.

On the new gen I definitely agree, I got into K-pop in 2016 but found myself going all the way back to 1st gen with my research (when I get into something I get INTO it) and although I feel there are definitely some unique voices in the mix, you can definitely tell that vocals are being more and more undervalued by the industry. My personal (boy group) faves are Lee Hongki, Sungjae, Daehyun, D.O, Onew and more that I’m probably forgettting to list.

I also glad to see some one with the same tastes as mine 🤗😉 Also one of my favorite group is Infinite. Sunggyu's and Woohyun's vocals are so good. Sunggyu is my fav among soloist. His musical style is just my taste. Also love iKON JU-NE's voice. It is so husky and and unique for kpop. And A.C.E Lee Donghun is also powerful vocalist.

BAP the forefathers of the post-2nd generation kpop. Their style, group dynamism and the group activities in the West brought a new wave in the industry and literally started the 3rd generation whose influence is still strong til date. They, somehow, paved the way for groups that debuted after them and their successful very 1st performance in Timesquare in early spring 2013 opened the eyes of a lot of agencies on the growing demand in the west especially America. BAP had their very first solo act world tour (Asia/America/Europe) the same year, so one year after debut (which was something revolutionary back in the day when social media were not developped and coming from a non-big 3 company). Sure there were groups like Big Bang before but the BAP project is really what shaped the kpop we know today, pushed doors, took certain risks by performing in a way that was not trendy nor popular back in the day and that challenged codes. In return what did they get ? Mismanagement, mistreatment and some physical abuses from their own company, media trying hard and erase their existence, other kpop groups never covering their songs and some disrespecting them (see Eric of TheBoyz case) and kpop followers acting in a disdainful way towards them.

Yongguk has a super deep voice, but the one you asked about in Rain Sound was Himchan. He also has a deep voice with a little rasp edit: A good portion of their songs have messages about violence, mental illness, and other social situations that need to be talked about. So thats why you see guns so much lol 2nd edit: BAP also likes to put interludes of their other songs in longer videos like skydive and one shot. Skydive has their song Pray ant the beginning and Fermata in the middle of the video before the climax

B.A.P.'s "Wake Me Up" is about how society needs a wakeup call to all the mental health issues that people are facing in the world. You see the girl taking pills and smearing lipstick all over her face because she is dealing with self-image and body issues; the girl that is cooking is battling an eating disorder, which is why we see her imagining that her food is covered in worms and bugs; the guy in the bathtub is dealing with depression and thoughts of suicide; and I think the guy that you see dancing in his room is dealing with gender roles and society's definition of what a man should do and act like, we see him dancing in secret in his room because being a dancer isn't necessarily considered something manly and boys are often made fun of if they want to be dancers, etc. or maybe he is dealing with thoughts of not being good enough and being too worried about what others might think about him. The protest is happening because they are calling for an "emotional revolution." B.A.P. is sending a message to the world that we all need to pay more attention to mental health and to take mental health issues more seriously, etc. What made this MV even more poignant was that this was their leader and main rapper Bang Yongguk's first comeback after being on hiatus due to a panic disorder. So, the message within the song and MV was a very personal one to him and the other members. As you can see, B.A.P. was known for having deep messages within their songs and MVs and they often talked about things within society that people were afraid to address or were uncomfortable talking about. And as mentioned in your "One Shot" reaction, B.A.P. often teased to other songs from their albums within their MVs, so the other songs you heard as part of the soundtrack of the MV were songs that were B-side songs on the same album as the main MV song.

when it’s come to BAP babyz just want people to know how amazing they are how legendary they are and even if they disbanded their songs still timeless BAP so precious to us and we love how people get to know them now thank you so much for the videos we will wait for more cuz you will never regret to know them 🤍

Wake me up is a special kinda song to me. Heard it first back when I was just getting into kpop, and it's still one of my favourites now, years later. Still makes me tearyeyed and all shivery whenever I listen to it

So, in Skydive, he was given photos of a girl that is important to him (not sure if it’s sister or girlfriend) in a blindfold and a message to kill their group leader (iirc). Then in the alleyway, since he hadn’t killed him yet, while held at gunpoint he was given more photos of her/her hand and a box with her finger(s) in it. Then he later got a final warning message while in their group lounge so he started suspecting all of the guys in the group but decided to try and take the leader out to save the girl. After he failed he was sent a text message that the game was over and her location in the trash. And as you saw Jongup was a traitor bc in that storyline he’s probably a sociopath or psychopath and didn’t like that the leader and others were trying to keep him in line.

Somehow he managed to pick all the darker songs lmao If we recommend crash , Feel so good and thats my jam this videos would have been very different lol

B.A.P has such a impressive discography. After they left one by one, the members are still in touch. Yongguk now has his own agency, Zelo is still doing solo and be a dancer, Jongup went to Peak Time, Daehyun is doing solo just got out of military, Youngjae is in military he's very active as an actor and Himchan (the other deep voice) is in jail. The other five members stop following him and still hanging out and very close to eachother

Wake me up is a special song. It was the comeback of youngguk(you can see that he was visually represented as a center piece) after he paused his promotions because of some personal issues with his mental health.

For the middle of Skydive mv, the slow song is Fermata (vocal unit's song) & the chanty song is Pray (rap unit's song). Both songs are from the same album 😊

The first Multi-verse in K-pop. The first Male K-pop group with plushie mascots aka Matoki (bunny). First group themed origin concept. They were aliens Matoki from the planet Mato sent on a mission to bring happiness to Earth with music. So many firsts, they were cutting edge exploring new ways to develop this genre to a global audience. They even preformed on MTV in New York at the Time Square studio. They addressed social and political issues in their lyrics and did not shy away from that. Fans of B.A.P. (Babyz) often organized and collected donations for local shelters and food pantries at each of the concert venues when B.A.P. held their global tours. They did so following the example set by the messages Bang Young Guk would discus during interviews and live streams. In 2016 Babyz even collected enough funds to help open a school in Ghana with a partnership from Pencils of Promise in B.A.P.'s name.

the song playing during the "flashbacks" (the one from 16:53) on Skydive is called Fermata, while the one from 17:55 is called Pray (its's the same one from the start of the MV) ; all from the Noir album where Skydive is from.

I'm living for these B.A.P reactions! Loved this and your previous video, hope to see more. Their mvs, title tracks and albums are sooo good. They have zero bad songs (IMO). Also, Badman is my favourite song of all time, I just really love everything about it! i went into patron to check where u fall in love with jongup lol. BAP is very well known for their harder badass image but i really want you to see the softerside of them :) Where Are You, Feel so Good, That's my Jam, Stop it, Coffee Shop are among their cuter softer songs

Без прикрас и притворств. Не строили из себя лучших друзей, у которых никого больше нет в жизни. Просто были парнями, объединенными одной мечтой. Которые уживались друг с другом, не играли на публику - где еще вы видели шоу, где большинство времени одни проспали, другой построил седушку для туалета, третий гулял по округе - и всё это без желания сделать контент.
