I don’t think there’s been a single bomber campaign on this channel since the Nomad Crew went through four different bombers. Fun stuff!

This simulation is very interesting so that makes the prospects of an upgraded version a must-see! Hopefully more success, plus leadership, will get the crew's morale up. Fun fact that I once spoke to a WWII air corps veteran, and he said very cheekily that he flew "17 and one-half missions." I was too young at the time to know what that meant, but there must have been an exciting remainder of that story that I was not privileged to hear.

ahhh the relief from having to fly home a crippled b17 i remember those days!

I had friends in school, twins, whose dad was a waist gunner in a B17 over Europe. He was wounded by flak on his first mission out. He kept flying until VE Day.

It's sad that this game still has no worthy successor. I love this.

A small tip for the brest harbours is to fly between the 2 flak sites and going up the coast, you encounter less flak this way and gain a more favourable angle

thats a good point, there were lots of servicemen in their 30's, i wonder if the loss rate meant that towards the end of the war most crews were in the early 20's

I admire the calmness of your voice during the incoming flak. Here i am sitting comfortably in my nice and warm room when i start to hear the sounds of flak shrapnel bouncing off the plane and i become a bag of nerves! lol. Great video!.

BTW - What do you think about changing the bombing route to suit the shape of the target? In this mission coming in from the left or right would have given your bombs more real estate to land on - right?

I havent been hyped for a Game in Years, the B-17 Remaster definetly changes that, this is one of my alltime favorite Games.

@@TaffinExile Yeah i went to Steam yesterday after writing my Comment and checked out the Games, cant wait to plsy all of them. Also really interesting that theyre doing one that is cloer to the original, and then one who is trying to go all new.

I am not into aircraft sims at all, but I really enjoyed this and will certainly look forward to your next one

Still a cracking game

I doubt it, but it would be so cool to play the opposing side (Luftwaffe) in a campaign against the 8th and others.

The milk was a bit sour on that milk run. You have to hand it to our fly boys having to plow straight and level through the flak once on the bomb run. Good stuff, Taff!!!

I am kind of surprised you didn't comment on the little derp of the physics engine at 17:07

Looks like you have a Finnish co-pilot. And considering the location of the top turret and him being the flight engineer, it makes sense that he can also pilot the aircraft in a pinch.

It was common place in the RAF to have the engineer with basic pilot skills but no so much in the USAAF as they had a dedicated co-pilot.

22:14 minor tidbit: there were no container ship like that in WW2; the first purpose-built container ships that large started in the 60's

Oh my god, I remember when I first discovered your channel, Taff! The first series I watched was the Angel Fire tour! That’s what got me hooked on your B-17 series! It was the Angel Fire tour, Sir, You Are Being Hunted and, I want to say ETS 2 but I may be forgetting one🤔. An absolute gem of a game.

I noticed that for me, In the external view F2 hit 'bracket' & then F1 and save those airmen. I've had random death spirals, due to NOT keeping my squadrons health up!

It's like that CoD: United Offensive bomber mission meets 'Silent Hunter' :) Nice vid.

I loved this game when it came out. Still have it and I'm seriously tempted to reinstall it and have ag. One thing I really liked about the career mode was that after about 6 missions, I stopped caring whether I hit the target ot not. I just wanted to survive. Proper little Yossarian!

I dust off my old MS sidwider 2 for B-17 and Rise of flight, its got a really good forcefeedback which I enjoy (FF on RoF)

Microprose should give everyone above the age of 40 a free copy of this game IF REQUESTED. No one has their Original copies anymore and i can get it ON A BOAT if i want to.

Not really sadly, there is another flight sim game on pc called IL-2 1946, although it’s an old game you can get it on sale for just over $2 AUD there’s a mod pack for the game that adds in many different fighters, bombers and interceptors for ww2 along with many different large maps, although not as in depth as The mighty 8th you can still switch between gunner seats and tell the plane to be autopiloted or you can fly, you can also play as the bombadier. I highly recommend this game if you own a flight stick and throttle, don’t try and play it with keyboard and mouse, it’s really not very fun, also modern Xbox one controllers don’t work on it either. Bye!

I've been a fan since W95 daze! I wrote ALL commands on a 5x8" cheat-sheet! I like the mouse abilities on Steamish! BUT! How When you account for wind, you taught me something. Thx.

The heck happened to the lower right bomber at 17:10 ....was it break dancing or crashing lol

I have tried to get MicroProse to look at ur channel in hopes that you get to test "B-17 Flying Fortress The Bloody 100th" when it is ready. Hope that is ok.

Console has Bomber Crew. It's more cartoony but the same premise of commanding a B-17 crew.

Was never fortunate enough to have this game but I had the Amiga demo. I don’t know if it was the limitations of the Amiga or just my bad luck, but I seem to remember myself and a number of the flight being taken out not by bullets but incompetence as fighter after fighter collided continually or, worse, a member of the flight would take a hit and lose control into my plane and any evasive action inevitably took me into another bomber Didbt stop me from wanting this game though

I remember playing a game in the Early 90's were we could play campaigns, the graphics were of course not as today but the b-17 could fly a full crew of players giving it a better chance of surviving. You could have up to a hundred players per side. So with team work and escorts of players in fighters, by destroying enemy bases you capture the territory. There was no waiting for game to start, you just popped in and did your duty lol. Unfortunately the Server was Sold out and the game at the time was free to play and went to pay to play, and with changes to the game it lost something so I stopped playing.

Funny how F4.0 graphics were much better in 1998 and this keeps on using EAW engine with crappy graphics.

why is this games graphics so bad? no one has wanted to update or change them?

It's a 22 year old game. As far as the 3D models go they're actually pretty good for the era. The backgrounds don't hold up as well because they're static images with the exception of the outside environment.

They were all from the same year. B-17 barely made it into the top 40 games of that year... You must have been one of the 4 positive reviews on Metacritic. 😁😁
