The Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress is my all time favorite aircraft from the 1930s the late 1940s . Fell in love when I was 4 . The movies Twelve O Clock High ,Airforce , The War Lover ,and the TV series ,Twelve O Clock High . Thank you .

Wow what a beautiful plane! I love the B-17 to The B-52s the flying fortresses oh my gosh would have been nice to be a gunner or Pilot back in that day fighting for my country
There is a 'kid' I know who sat in the belly of one of these beauties. He was attached to the 5th. His bird was silver. he was saying since allied forces gained air superiority by the time he processed in over in the European theater, they didn't need to use much of any camouflage on the birds. I think his 17 was some of the last ones made before they integrated automated fire control systems. Unbelievable what these bombers were capable of, and of the kids who crewed them.
