Azure Site Recovery for Hyper-V VMs Step by Step

Ғылым және технология

ASR is a DR strategy for your environment in which you maintain a business continuity and a disaster recovery (BCDR) strategy that keeps your data safe, and your apps and workloads online, when planned and unplanned outages occur.
Azure Site Recovery helps ensure business continuity by keeping business apps and workloads running during outages. Site Recovery replicates workloads running on physical and virtual machines (VMs) from a primary site (Hyper-V in this Tutorial) to a secondary location (Azure). When an outage occurs at your primary site, you fail over to secondary location, and access apps from there. After the primary location is running again, you can fail back to it.
ASR process from Azure Portal step by step :
1. You need to have Azure account.
2. Create storage account or check if you have one already craeted.
3. Create a virtual network or check if you have one already created.
4. Create recovery services vault.
5. Prepare infrastructure step by step:
1. Create Hyper-V site
2. Connect Hyper-V host + install setup on Hyper-V host
3. Create policy.
6. Start Replication of VM (takes time according to network bandwidth and size of VM).
7. Check if VM protected and healthy.
8. Make a test failover.
9. Finished.

What if we have multiple hyper-v servers. Can we add them all at once and can we replicate vms from them at once?

If they are clustered or even seperate you can add them as hosts and you can replicate from them. also if they are clustered it is better to add both.... hope i answered your question

@@AL-Techs yes thanks, 2 more questions. 1. when I replicated a domain joined VM. in the test failover cannot rdp, its says ""The remote computer that you are trying to require Network level authentication, but your Windows domain controller cannot be contracted to perform NLA" whats the solution for this? how to test it properly 2. When in a real scenario, how we can access Azure DR servers, via VPN? and what about the Active Directory in that case?

Hey, have you set up a secondary domain controller on Azure and established a site-to-site connection with your on-premises server? Authentication requires either a site-to-site connection with the on-premises DC or setting up a secondary domain controller on Azure, replicated with the on-premises DC, using either site-to-site, point-to-site, or express route connections.

@@gayan4u nope. Azure Ad has nothing to do with that. the possible solutions are the ones I mentioned. If you need to do the DC replication. we can talk about that. alaakalakech@hotmail.com

@@AL-Techs Your mic is poor. The reverb in the room is bad. you mumble. Appreciate the effort it takes to make a video but the audio in this one is pretty bad. Some room treatment to reduce the reverberation would help, as would a dedicated mic that is closer to your mouth.
