The "Azure & Asphalt" series explores the light and abstract patterns formed by reflected sunlight on streets and rooftops at sunset. The series began over 10 years ago with plein air studies, several of which are featured in this video. As the series developed in the studio, the paintings became increasingly atmospheric, luminous, and abstract.

    For the video, I chose those paintings I felt were most luminous. Most of these paintings in this series were done in the studio, so that’s why there is only one plein air here. Getting things to glow and appear luminous was my primary goal.
