Not really an odd reason since historically, US battleships and most cruisers were armed with destroyer guns for secondaries. I don't know the exact reason why but those smaller caliber guns were also used as anti-air due to prevalence of enemy bombers and later, kamikaze. It might also have to with the fact that their ships will be constantly operating far from home so maintenance on smaller guns is probably easier. I remember reading somewhere that the US focused more on longevity for the gun barrels rather than full-on firepower.

Don't know if this is a fact. More likely just my opinion. I think the choice for smaller caliber dual purpose guns (Like the 127mm) were chosen for US battleships due to the US Navy understanding early that aircraft carriers and naval air power may be the next step in future naval battles. After Pearl Harbor, the US had only aircraft carriers to fight back the Japanese in major engagements. Battleships that were made BEFORE Pearl Harbor had the usual secondary armament of big caliber guns paired with smaller ones. Now that the US had to switch to a longer ranged engagement thinking with their carriers, the biggest threat posed to the fleet would be other aircraft carriers so battleships that were in development at the time or after Pearl Harbor started being fitted with more anti-aircraft guns and with dual purpose secondaries that can engage smaller vessels at close range and aircraft. Again, this is just my opinion.

The Iowa and retrofitted battleships had cruiser guns which was on the Atlanta class They can be counted as destroyer guns as for they were on the gearing class destroyer

also the triple 155mm is the secondary gun of the yamato who as far as i know was the only battleship that actually had full blown cl guns during ww2. the nagato also had 140mm guns that were used as cl guns but those were casemate guns in this specific case so i'm unsure whether to count them as actual cl guns or not

Just wanted to say the mic settings are better than last time. There's still a tiny bit of under-hiss, you can probably hear it if you have good sound output and listen to your video- but it's slight. Appreciate the equipment suggestions and glad I'm on the right track- might be worth noting the hidden damage modifiers on different guns, but that's advanced grind stuff. HE, AP, and normal compared to light, medium, and heavy armor and certain stages actually being better for some guns than others. This is one of those 'shave off seconds' kind of things, but different gun types- such as for destroyers, cruisers, ect, have different hidden damage modifiers for the same ammo/armor type.

Once again, I definitely appreciate your helpful advice! I am honestly super glad to hear that my mic is heading in the right direction. I'll make a note to talk a bit about the damage modifiers for my future videos, since I believe they're definitely important. I probably won't get too deep into it or else the video might drag on and most people wouldn't like to hear me talk about that technical stuff for a long time, but I can assure that I will at least point out the differences between HE/AP/Normal ammo.

Some good info here. It's nice that you actually talk about the accessible options. One thing I would add under exceptions is that the gold Triple 406 mk1 is slightly better than the purple Triple 406 mk6 on ships that alter the main gun property (Gascogne Muse and Massachusetts)

the reason you do not pick the 406 gold over the 406 purple, is the fact it fire ap shots, and not He, menaing you really have to hit the target with your shots, or you deal a ot less damage, while for HE projectiles the damage gradience is much wider

Note, For the AA gun Bofors STAAG, its one of the better ones due to it having an additional 10 HIT which helps in accuracy.

I was wondering if the 6* 406mm main battleship gun we had with New Jersey's event was better than it's 4* counterpart, since it you were recommending it ?

What should I equip battleships that don't have a Barrage with? Specifically I'm referring to Warspite Retrofit. Btw, thank you for making this. I should really already know this stuff because I've been playing for months now, but the equipment complexity always scared me off. Videos like these really help me out.

Warspite Retrofit follows the same fashion as what I did for North Carolina starting from 4:16. She is best equipped with the Triple 406mm MK6 Main Gun.

First of all, so much great info in your videos. Subscribed! I just have 1 question maybe somebody’s asked it. I noticed in your videos you prioritize the damage even if it’s a purple over a gold. Does the extra damage the gun or plane does offset the fact that you lose the extra AVI or Firepower in choosing the purple over gold? I’m just wondering. Cause when I equip them instead of gold, I lose a lot of power overall. Please help! Thanks again for the videos!!

In most cases, if the same gun can be found in gold rarity, it is the best. Ex: 1) However, for Battleships, the best gun can only be found in purple rarity. The Twin 410mm *does* come in gold, but the fact that it shoots a different ammo makes it SUPER BAD. The Triple 406mm only goes up to purple rarity , making it the best for the job. (but if it had a gold rarity, then that would be the best) Ex: 2) The best dive bomber in this game is the SC2C Helldiver, (and the TBM Avenger, but we'll ignore that for this scenario) a purple plane. It is the highest rarity available for that particular plane, making it the best since it has better bombs than its competitors. If there were a gold version of this exact plane, then it would be better than the purple version. You shouldn't look into the "power" stat in this game too much, it's almost always completely irrelevant (as a lot of other veterans will agree with me). Focusing on putting the correct gun/plane on your ships instead will help you much more than looking at overall power.

Honestly, I've always hated the triple 155 and double 150mm nicknames, since their Mogami and German destroyer guns respectively

Isn't the rainbow Twin 452mm better than the purple Triple 406mm Mk6 for BBs without triggered barrages though? Also, the Twin 152mm isn't the best auxiliary CL gun, but it's certainly easy to get for how well it performs. Oh, and for timing adjustment, you would use the gold Firecontrol Radar (which is actually really good) rather than the Autoloader.

What would you recommend for a main gun for Amagi Chan in the latest event that is AP

Imo.. with ships that have a % barrage, go for faster firing. More chances to proc in prolonged battles. For ships that have a guaranteed barrage (like New Jersey), it's better to use a higher dmg gun, as the barrage dmg is usually based off the dmg of the gun as well. Not to mention, hers is also a guaranteed critical dmg barrage, so the more dmg ur guns do, the more dmg the barrage will do as well, from both the base dmg, and the added crit dmg. Overall more dpm for NJ on a triple UR over a double SR gun

Just a question : the Twin 127mm MK12 Dual Gun blueprint can be found at both 5-1 and 8-1, but does 8-1 have better drop rates for it or do they have almost the same drop rate? Like is there a "the more advanced the node is, the better will be the droprate" kind of stuff?? I'm a newbie so I don't know quite that much

If we're only talking about blueprints then 5-1 is better because gold blueprints only drop from boss fights, HOWEVER, battles in 5-1 only reward you with T2 gear parts, while 8-1 can give you T3 gear parts, so it might be in your best interest to farm 8-1 even if it will get you the blueprints a little slower than 5-1.

The only time where AP main guns are preferred is Chapter 13. This is because AP guns on BB's have a horrific damage multiplier against light armor, and light armored enemies still make up a very large portion of Chapter 12. On the other hand, Chapter 13 has a ton of Medium/Heavy armored ships, giving AP ammo a distinct advantage for that chapter. For Chapter 13, I'd recommend the Prototype Triple 410mm for non-barrage ships such as Warspite and North Carolina, and the Triple 380mm Main Gun (SK C) on barrage ships like Monarch.

Well I have the gold Quadruple 381mm guns on Bismarck. Should I change it for the gold twin guns you suggested?

If you're talking about switching to the purple 410mm, I'd change it. This is because Bismarck doesn't have that good of a barrage, so being able to do more damage with the purple 410mm compared to having less time per salvo by using the Twin 381mm is better in my opinion. Edit: Oh no, if you were talking about the Gold 410mm (3rd Year Type) it's the worst gun in the game. They changed the ammo for it to something that resembles confetti, and it is REALLY bad. The purple gun is the best in the game.

She has a special barrage that fires with her salvos, so equip her with a main gun that has a faster firing speed.

Sound is coming in as 5x4, that means there is a hiss whenever you talk. A 4x4 would mean a constant hiss.

Honestly, voices like yours are better than actual ASMR Alot of ASMR is like listening to hell itself

"theoretically one-third extra damage" Not to be nitpicky, but it would be more akin to 50% more damage over the 410mm.

I would love to have a tutorial about how the guns work on combat. For example, why does my BB shoot 2 aditional shots after I launch the salvo? Nothing about the guns tells me how of why this happens

limit breaking your battleships will give them +1 main gun base sometimes. If this is the case, they might fire up to 3 consecutive salvos in one main gun volley

I used Bluestacks in this video and it's been working pretty good for me. That's the only emulator I've got experience on so that's my only recommendation lol

Question: Wouldn't the 381mm out DPS the 410mm because of the 20 FP difference? I know the timing's irrelevant if you play manually because you get MAYBE one extra salvo.

Due to some damage multipliers and other numbers, the 410mm still outdamages the 381mm in all cases. I tested it with my Monarch and she hit for 3025 with the 381mm and 3400 with the 410mm. That's about 9% more damage even though the 381mm has more FP.

The SG radar does not stack even if you have them in two different fleets. So the maximum will still be 12% ambush reduction. The way it works is that it will give the ambush reduction to the fleet that you have the SG radar in. This means that you should have a SG radar in both of your fleets, so that each fleet will be able to get the ambush reduction.

Faster reload, lower DPS. It fires normal shells. HE shells are generally considered better because of the 50% burn damage.

Yes, the gear from the missions are going to be blueprints that you have to craft together in order to get the actual gun. I think you can get 1-2 blueprints for every clear, but sometimes the blueprint might not drop at all. Just hope you have some good luck!

Can you make a video focusing on best Research Guns and gear? Good guide on BB/BC gear btw, letting players know that outside of specific research guns, some of the best guns are in fact purple, this goes for planes as well (looking at you Kurtis SB2C Helldiver). Also, what about FCR from FW? I think it's better on BB/BC with barrage skills than black shell since it makes you fire your first salvo 15% faster and subsequently, makes all other salvos fire faster as well. I find FCR and white shell better when used on Monarch, hood, and amagi, since their barrages are very good.

If you're talking about the Battleship gun that breaks off the artillery into small shotgun-like fragments, then that gun is infamous for confusing players. That gun is VERY bad. For some reason the devs felt like making the gold 410mm shoot out different artillery (called Sanshiki) than its purple counterpart, drastically lowering its damage potential since its almost impossible to hit all those fragments. Theoretically, it has the highest damage, but the theoretical damage is only good if EVERY single bit of damage hits your target. The purple 410mm is still better, which may sound confusing, but since it shoots out normal HE ammo in a tight and accurate spread while having a fast reload, it is overall the best pick for salvo-based Battleships.

@@gummi4977 i personally have no experience using her barrage, but if I were to guess based off of the performance of the gold 410mm, it would probably not be that good. She's put in tier 4 in the battleship tier list, so it seems like her barrage does not help her out too much. Great waifu, but mediocre performance.

They have no barrage, so I'd go with the Triple 406mm on them for maximum DPS. I use it on Hyuuga retro.

ive only been playing for a week so i definitely know this feeling!! From my experience so far ive found it better not to follow all the online guides too strictly - esp when the main focus for me is just progressing through the chapters. Unfortunately we dont have much room to nitpick which gear goes on which ships when we're only at the stage of growing our collections. Though I'm certain it would be useful to know later down the line! I would also recommend resisting the temptation to open blue or grey boxes, and instead saving them to craft into purple and gold. Hope this helps from another newbie !

I know it sounds anal but I always put on the guns that the BB actually had historically. For non-Sakura BBs I put a Fire Control Radar and an autoloader. For Sakura BBs I put either AP or Heavy Shells and an autoloader.

Nothing "anal" about that, it's how you want to play and it sounds like an interesting idea. For my part I tend to try and put on auxiliaries that reference how each ship sank and how they would try to counter that once they're revived, for example; Yorktown was sunk by Submarine launched Torpedoes while being rescued by Hammann whom was also sunk by the same Torpedoe volley, so I put on an Anti-Torpedo Bulge on Yorktown, while giving the Sonar and Depth Charges to Hammann. When paired with Helena I switch the Sonar off of Hammann for an AA Radar, as Helena uses the SG and Sonar.

CL AP guns are weaker. Especially on BB!!! I explain. For example weapons: Triple 155mm (3rd Year Type) НЕ+ ammo and Twin 150mm (TbtsK C/36) AP ammo. Both elite. Put it on Warspite.Bomb ships , DD and some other ships have LIGHT armor! Armour Modifiers for HE+ is 145% and for AP only 100%. Going to maths and damage formula. НЕ+ weapon have: 362 dmg for each shell , 2172 dmg per volley and 624 DPS. Now AP weapon: 308 dmg per shell, 1232 per voley , and 504 DPS.

Very true! That would make the Belfast gun the best aux gun for Battleships. I would still say that the AP guns are fine for aux guns, since they still have enough damage one shot suicide boats even though they get less of a damage multiplier. They are also much easier to get than a gold since they are purple, so it would still be good to put the AP CL guns on Battleships.

@@ItsAnderYT and for one shot option better to use Triple 152mm (6"/47 Mk 16). 6 shells in one cone volley. This gun can defend 2 line at same time. I think AP guns only for limeted skills like Edinburgh. Or just destroying that shiet for improved parts

The mic is better, but i think a little background music wouldn't hurt. You should also add gun animations.

Background music can definitely be a thing! ... once i learn how to lol I could do a couple of showcase battles using some of the ships. Just note that the video will obviously be much longer.

Anyway, you can simply add a B-roll of the ship figjtong while your discussing the guns/ships since you don't really show us that much while your talking anyway. A 3-5 seconds b-roll would be enough just to give some of the newbies an idea what makes a gun/ship better since we can actually see the gun or the skills. 😁

Lol I put 30sec per wave gun on bismarck. Don't have faster gold guns.

The best purple AA guns are the Twin 113mm (the one that looks like a roomba) and the 127mm Mounted Gun

Not sure why you're using twin 410 for skill proc when the purple triple 283 fires 20% faster with only a slight loss in dps.
