Kinda similar to motorcycle marketing in Indonesia: best selling bikes are given average decals and monotonous paint, while not-so-well selling bikes are given livelier stickers and colour to keep'em existing. Azur Lane also does the same: keep the less effective girls alive by giving them nice designs and reactions I hope they remake Anson as UR girl 9.8k/above above hp, Royal Navy fleet is starting to gas out since Vanguard is slowly being eroded by Bismarck Zwei/Musashi/Soyuz

After anson got cancelled, a bunch of us managed to gather a large amount of support to keep ansons character for a future ship. Because we were afraid manjuu would just abandon the design after the controversy. We passed this support onto the Azur lane discord server yostar staff who acknowledged the trends. Stating that theyd seen the same trend accross a variety of social medias in favour of saving HMS ansons character art. And that they were still monitoring the situation. Including for one a reddit poll that amassed 2.3k votes to keep her in contrast to a mere 300 of salty players against keeping her art. That level of interacation on the subreddit is far above average. And the discord server also had a lot of messages in support. So hopefully in future, our adorable, dorky character will return.

I hope she returns as well, and thanks to you and everyone else who pushed to make sure Yostar and Manjuu are aware of the finer reasoning behind the backlash. She was just wrong ship, wrong time, and waiting longer for a ship is preferable to one being stuck with a design that clearly isn't meant for them.

I'm one of those salty players....I hated her design...but if they use it for some sub or DD, then I can live with it on the grounds that not every design need to appeal to me. I'm just relieved they didn't use it for Anson.

I'm hoping they reuse the art for a sub down the line, because her art is perfect for one.

I still hope "Anson", or whatever name you want her to have, will come back with this design. A lot of people on reddit and discord agreee that it is good, as a sub or dd maybe, and she deserves to be at least in the game.

i definitely want her to release, the whole matching thing is a stupid excuse. black sheep just got black sheeped T-T, ppl dont realize they are the mob with the pitchforks that the audience hates. i hope she doesnt become a sub, cuz they aren't as used as much as other ships. DDs and BBs are my fav ships.

She had zero hallmarks of her ship class, which even "black sheep" types typically have, and more importantly was the most obvious asset swap yet. That this isn't the first time this has happened (Reno's bracelet designates her as New York BB-34, Manchester was obviously meant to be Emerald in fundamental design and indicated by her emblem before it was fixed, Otto von Alvensleben was obviously a sub, and Houston II may have originally been an Iron Blood design based on Confluence of Nothingness loading screens and lack of similarity to the original Houston), and that the subject of the swap is once more a Royal Navy ship (who have been perceived as being snubbed repeatedly by Manjuu, and were the subject of the next biggest design kerfuffle, Manchester/Emerald), was a big motivator for the backlash. Additionally, if the speculation is correct that she was originally designed to be Sunfish (and her design is convincing of that), it's a double blow as Royal Navy players have been lamenting the total absence of subs for their faction, yet here we had the ready-made sub design being wasted improperly. The bottom line is that if Manjuu had been more prudent, none of this would have happened.

Despite the recent controversy with Anson that happened. I hope this doesn't deture people, I still do love Devonshire, Liverpool, Nubian, and Friedrich Karl.

I think people are content that not-Anson isn't being wasted (assuming she's not just shredded due to association with PR disaster), and Anson will get a proper design. Not a fan of Karl since her design tropes are so worn and tired, but I agree everyone else is great, and the event content is a refreshing change from the usual.

I imagine this won't be many people's favorite event. However a good UR event in May with all these QoL updates and most people will largely forget this hiccup.

If Friedrich Carl ever gets a Retrofit which trades her TRP +1 for Main Guns +1 or a Special Augment which improves her second skill's barrage (or allows her to Harmonize with a third ship) she will become *extremely* Meta

The way it is worded hints it is only applied to one fleet, the one the ship is in, so no. All UR ships with cross fleet specifically say When a fleet this ship is not it starts a battle : ....

It only applies to the fleet she is currently in. It is not a cross fleet buff. Translation might have made that slightly unclear.

I have an idea for PvP meme: One commander should put Akashi/Vestal - Manchester on the defensive fleet Other commander fight that defensive fleet with Akashi/Vestal - Liverpool Now the problem is how to make those two meet....

Finally, another, or rather the second Tribal-class destroyer in a long time has appeared - now Eskimo has a sister in this game. And of the Town class cruisers, it remains to add Birmingham, if I’m not mistaken. I really love destroyers as a class of ships, so Nubian pleased me both in appearance and in characteristics.

Overall, I had some minor concerns with the other designs this batch, aside from Anson. Like how Devonshire is the odd one out of her class as she's a maid, and Nubian is a maid while her sister isn't (This opinion will probably change once more Tribal class destroyers are added).

@joelmontgomery4837 Yeah, that's what I meant. She fits generally with the others, but in her sister sub class, she's the odd one out. It's not a problem to me though. Nubian's a maid but Eskimo is more fitted for winter. Maybe they'll split it more since there's a lot of Tribal class Destroyers for the Royal Navy.

Any buzz about the UR yet? The lack of a UR really hurt this event imo.

Given how the pattern of "The next META ship reveals the next nation that will get the UR event" hasn't been wrong recently, and that the META ship this time was HMAS Vampire, I'm almost certain that the RN will be getting the next UR event. Maybe Indefatigable (The younger sister of Implacable) will be the UR? Plus the all new design for Anson will show up during it too?

I haven't played in a while, but my two other guesses would be Barfleur (only Battle class DD to really see any action during WW2) or Lion. Before anyone complains about Lion thinking 'another British BB *eyeroll*' I bet the reaction would be exactly the same if Indefatigable was picked.

@liladoodle Lion was laid down,too. Her or Temeraire could make it into the game as standard gacha ships. Would be funny if they chose Temeraire because Le Temeraire exists. I do agree on Conq or Thunderer potentially being PR ships. I personally think Duncan or St. Vincent is more likely though.

Nubian is pretty good, given that slash isn't coupled to her barrage skill, so... Very good for any world where you need to delete torpedo barrages, which is most worlds post world 11, lol.

Yes, I was even wondering if she could take Fortune METAs top tier slot in PvP. However every 40 shots is a bit much ever for a DD gun on a MGM+1. However it won't stop me from testing it to confirm.

As usual, the Elite ship in the gacha continues to be the hardest to get. What the hell 😂

Honestly Carl seems good. While the barrage she gives seems weak, her and another ship will be able to proc it so, Carl herself ends up having 2 barrages and the ship she ends up giving it too as well. If there were DDs with good fp, you would be launching this barrage constantly XD So i am gonna assume CLs are the best recipients for this. I do see potential but of course she is not gonna be better then an UR, but she is definitely high on SR imo. Maybe i am overhyping it, but its an interesting gimmick. At least she will be good in mob fleets.

Carl is decent, ghost gun included she is a solid SR CA. Not on pace with URs, but for her rarity she is strong.

Not that it’s huge, but it’s worth remembering that Friedrich Carl has the ghost secondary gun characteristic of the P class. That got overlooked during her review and was driving me nuts. That gun somewhat makes up for some of the lost DPS that not having mgm +1 causes. Even if her skills aren’t as good as they seem on paper, she’s at a minimum on par with Prinz Adalbert. Personally I’d say better, though it’s a hard call whether or not she’s even with Prinz Heinrich.

Honestly with what happened to Anson I was pretty disappointed with how the community reacted. I get that people were unhappy but all the fighting and threats, it was a big turn off for me. I’m still gonna buy all the skins and stuff but man it’s making rethink about continuing this game.

The loudest and worst people get the most eyeballs, most people were just mad that she didnt match her sisters, rightfully so. Shes getting changed and we are getting a replacement and hopefully her design comes back as another HMS girl.

To be honest i dont like Friedrich carl she shoudnt be in the event and i think she is from the next IB event so no real ships there besides maybe the new Anson She looks like they want a new FdG and i dont like that we now have 3 P Class but still missing Admiral Scheer

It's possible they pulled her up to replace Anson. However it's also equally possible Anson was an event drop ship and they just straight removed her.

PR Monarch is more WOWS what-if baby, and PR Gascogne is closer to the Richelieus hullwise.

the fantasy skin themes are always my favorite~ They almost always give the most interesting ones imo. Same reason I like it when they do halloween runs~ Also god It's so annoying how bad the elites are sometimes. like they don't have to me meta obviously but can they stopped being purposefully sad. Vamp meta skills are so underpowered lmao and her design is so good.

Jokes aside, I (as someone who did care) had to be reminded by my guildmates that the quiet majority really don't (especially since she's RN 😂). Maybe the talk of the town for a week or 2, but she wouldn't have been entering the meta whether she matches her sisters or not so once the hard cores start 120ing and discard she'd never be seen again except by the lolicons. I was really hoping she'd be a poorly timed April Fools Centurion, or could be reworked into Barham or even Dreadnaught.

Azur lane already takes up 50 something gigs out of my phones 64. I would hate to see it just get so big I can't play it anymore.

It should take something like 20GB. Maybe try to clear it off and redownload it to clean out residual files. Also, you have turn on download only necessary files instead of all files.

I'm still quite sad about Anson, what the comunity did was absurd to me, AL never got a girl hated this much and so fast, and not as a meme but just pure hate. I don't think she deserves that, neither her artist. I honestly hope to see her in game asap, don't care if she changes class or not, it's not like the HMS faction don't have goofy girls or anything like that, and many other classes don't have the 'consistency' that many claimed being the key reason to hate her. Don't get me wrong though, I would love to see another KGV class that is at least similar to Wales, since she's my favourite from the class, but I honeslty don't mind having a goofy ball in a class, that's why I don't think the original design was bad, but I do adimit, it looks a bit more like a swimsuit then the standard uniform, but all they gotta do is release the current one as a swimsuit and give her a new standard red coat since people really upset because she was not wearing one..... By the same logic, a few girls would also need new standard skins, but ok.... Anyway, rant aside, this event is looking Amazing, the the girls are quite lovely, I can't wait to properly play it later today.

Pretty sure you are misunderstanding or misrepresenting a lot here, people didnt want HMS Anson, a KG V class battleship who are all designed as refined adult women, to be designed as a goofy loli. They didnt hate the design itself, they didnt want that design to be on that group of characters as she is vastly different from her sisters with no real world reason why this would be (no massive mid production shift in armor layout or weapon calibur to result in some KG V ships having a new layout and thus a new "form"). The character will come back as some other ship, not as a battleship and we will get a battleship KG V Anson at some point in the future. Its perfectly reasonable and justified to be upset with the design for the ship it was meant to go on. Imagine if musashi wasnt a floofy girl but instead some weird non half animal hybrid NEET shut in girl. She would not only not match her sister ship (shinano) but also fly in the face of the IJN designs generally (half breed human/animal hybrids). It simply wouldnt make sense, the design might be fine but wouldnt be fine for a Yamato class girl.

While I can definitely see the disappointment from this design for Anson. I also look at Portland and Indianapolis and don't see a whole lot in common as sisters.

@@AzurLaneMeta Same hair color and length, similar height and bust, close to each other in apparent age, one is tanned while the other is more pale which is fine they arent meant to be identical. They actually have a lot of traits that siblings would have (their hair part in the front that covers their left eye is the same shape and length). If you told me anchorage and portland were sisters id say that someone cheated and they should do a dna test..

Not only in Portland and Indy design, there are many others like this. The Fletchers, most IJN girls between their classes, like Ise and Hyuga, Kii, Suruga and Owari, the KMS girls as well, specially the DDs. I mean, I really like this diversity, some do have similarities, but not all sisters and brothers look the same, even with the same father and mother, so why not the girls as well, as it is in most classes? I mean, not all shipgirls from AL are like identical twins like Atago and Takao, Inazuma and Ikazuchi, and even as twins they can look totally different. As I said, I also would love to see Anson as a girl similar to Wales, but the whole hate Anson, her artist and the devs received is what made me very sad. I honestly thought AL community was not that low... I still hope to see Anson in game and see this current design in game, she is cute, but I honestly don't care if she comes as Anson, a sub, a DD or whatever. It's not like I'm not in the game only for the waifus, the naval history aspect is what brought me here, and I do think the historical references should be a priority in the game development, but if we take that as the only aspect then we would need a lot of over powered girls to have much lower rarity/power and see many like Pensacola becoming a lot more powerful due to her service history. So in the end is a game for us to have fun, that's why I don't mind the Anson design, just like I don't mind when the devs get a little creative and try some new weird things, but with this backlash, I don't think the devs will try a lot of stuff, this just cages their creativity, and that's what I don't like the most, since it basically means the community will go nutz with the devs if they try new stuff....

They added age of exploration sailing ships with tentacles and pirate hats to a game with ww2 ships as the selling point, they wont be "caged" by their creativity and you are massively blowing this out of proportion because you THINK something happened that was bad and therefore its regrettable, the paying customer did not want something, the company complied, both sides win. This is how successful businesses are run. Final point and you cant contest this so please stop, she doesnt even share the same color pallet as her sisters, but every one of the girls you mentioned above at least shares a similar naval uniform even if they have different hair or eye colors. There is "different" (duke of york) and then theres "foreign", shes not related to them, hell even her gun designs look like they belong to iris libre/orthodoxy with their almost religious look to them (clemenceau). Shes also wearing crocs which is a common footwear for americans in modern day, not something that any of the royal navy girls would wear, her entire design clashes with the theme of HMS *UNLESS* shes meant to be the first of their subs! *gasp* almost like shes not meant to be KGV at all but was changed into one after design.

Probably one of the most scuffed event in Azur Lane's recent history.
