Surah Al-Baqarah (Chapter 2), Ayah 155-157: 2:155 "And We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits, but give good tidings to the patient." 2:156 "Who, when disaster strikes them, say, 'Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return.'" 2:157 "Those are the ones upon whom are blessings from their Lord and mercy. And it is those who are the [rightly] guided." Surah Al-Ankabut (Chapter 29), Ayah 2-3: 29:2 "Do the people think that they will be left to say, 'We believe' and they will not be tried?" 29:3 "But We have certainly tried those before them, and Allah will surely make evident those who are truthful, and He will surely make evident the liars." Surah Al-Mulk (Chapter 67), Ayah 2: 67:2 "[He] who created death and life to test you [as to] which of you is best in deed - and He is the Exalted in Might, the Forgiving." Surah Al-Imran (Chapter 3), Ayah 186: 3:186 "You will surely be tested in your possessions and in yourselves. And you will surely hear from those who were given the Scripture before you and from those who associate others with Allah much abuse. But if you are patient and fear Allah - indeed, that is of the matters [worthy] of determination." Surah At-Taghabun (Chapter 64), Ayah 15: 64:15 "Your wealth and your children are but a trial, and Allah has with Him a great reward." Surah Al-Fajr (Chapter 89), Ayah 15-16: 89:15 "And as for man, when his Lord tries him and [thus] is generous to him and favors him, he says, 'My Lord has honored me.'" 89:16 "But when He tries him and restricts his provision, he says, 'My Lord has humiliated me.'"
