realized on my last rewatch that the nightingale song plays when Crowley turns on the radio---like he'd prepared to have it play in the car as they drove to their extremely alcoholic breakfast at the Ritz...fucking noooooooo...😭and then he has to change it because it didn't play out how he expected, after all they'd been through together...I don't think he ever planned to kiss Aziraphale, he's too much in love with how they already are together--their romance--that they don't need anything sexual; the kiss was his last resort, since words didn't work.

I kind of love that their first (hopefully not last?) kiss wasn't all sweet or romantic. It was painful and angry and conflicted. It conveyed everything that Crowley needed to say but didn't have time to. And Aziraphale stuttering and on the verge of tears afterwards... this is masterful writing and acting. The best love stories are the ones that hurt, and my heart is fully discorporated.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks of it this way. I see a lot of people who think the kiss was out of place, but like, that's the point. You can see how much crowley struggles to express his real feelings, and so he does the most impactful thing he can as a last resort. I feel like even he didn't want to kiss aziraphale in that moment, but he just felt like it was the only thing he could do to get him to stay

The kiss was meant to be awkward because it was the complete wrong time to have a first kiss after however many thousand years they've spent together, the one thing that they truly agree on is that they want to be together but their core values still tear them apart, therefore the kiss is so conflicted and angsty and aggressive and passionate and it just goes to show that people really need to communicate more

Especially since last season Crowley said "I don't need you" and Aziraphale said "and the feeling is mutual! Obviously." I love all the heartbreaking parallels this season 😭

I can’t believe anyone could watch this season and think Aziraphale was leading Crowley on or didn’t actually love him. Aziraphale literally begs Crowley to come with him. Him being in charge of heaven and respected and Crowley being at his side as an angel is literally everything Aziraphale ever wanted and it makes total sense that he said yes. They could be together without it being taboo, they could change heaven for the better, it’s the perfect scenario in Aziraphale’s eyes and I think he fully viewed Crowley saying no as Crowley rejecting him in the same way that Crowley viewed Aziraphale saying yes as Aziraphale rejecting him. The coffee theory is interesting and could explain some things, but I also think Aziraphale’s decision makes total sense for his character.

People are really hating on Aziraphale, and it's making me kind of sad. I get where they're coming from, but, like you, I understand why Aziraphale made that decision. He doesn't run away from problems, and he's always believed in God's plan whilst being less impressed with heaven. I'm not saying he made the right choice, but it was logical imo.

the ending is ABSOLUTELY devastating. you didn't include it but the "no nightingales" line absolutely destroyed me. like THATS when I really fell apart and started crying, up until then I was just sort of gagged and shocked. and then when Crowley gets in the car and that song is playing, I literally fell on the ground off of my couch. a season that was so sweet and full of love, but it's foreshadowed the whole time how much Aziraphale still values heaven's opinion and thinks that heaven is good,just that some of the angels have it wrong. he's still convinced of the ineffability of god and the Metatron, I'm so excited for next season to hopefully separate himself from that idea that heaven is better than hell. that is if we GET a next season. If this doesn't get renewed and this is the ending Neil leaves us with, im gonna need one hell of an apology dance from prime video

Funny to say, Crowly is by far the better adjusted person. He has his problems, but doesnt dwell on them, while Azi has some (fairly relatable ocd that i myself can undestand as an ocder myself lol) yet still troubles himself and the people around him to being good. Even when it harms more than helps. (Omg, this angel is addicted to goodness like Angeldust is addicted to…uh…happy snowman!)

I feel like in this season Crowely adjusted more to Azirapahle than in the first season, where its more balanced, so my hope is that in season 3 it will re the other way around, when maybe Aziraphale realizes that being an Angel is nice and all, but his heart still lies with Crowley.

Fr, Crowley seems to have accepted that to be happy, he had to defy the whole system of heaven and hell and just be his own thing. Not the false, over righteousness of heaven nor the cruel sadism of hell. He realises that neither side cared about what he cared about, which is Earth. Meanwhile Aziraphale believes that the system isn’t broken, it’s just bad individuals, if he were in charge he would make things right. He still thinks heaven and angels are inherently “good” with exceptions like s1 Gabriel and demons and hell are inherently bad except Adam and Crowley. I wonder if that’s why aziraphale loves calling Crowley out for being “Good” with a capital G, because he clings onto his ideal of what heaven and heaven’s principles should be like and he thinks Crowley fits it - kind, merciful, loving, protector of earth and humans. He thinks Crowley was miscast into hell because he’s so “Good” according to his own interpretation of what a purely good “Heaven” should be like (which is never what Heaven actually ends up being - actual heaven punishes critical thinking and questioning instead of real cruelty. I mean heaven is INVOLVED in cruelty like what happened with Job and the Armageddon!) and should be an angel instead, and it’s this black and white thinking that’s made him completely neglect the third option of them both defying heaven and hell together as a “Not-so-Heavenly-but-not-very-Hellish” duo Sorry for rambling haha

I 1000% agree and also noticed that, an unbearable shame he couldn’t find the courage to say it. You can see the exact moment where his eyes harden with resolve and he changes to ‘I forgive you’. I think it’s because if he gave in to the temptation of his feelings, he would fail in his perceived duty to god/goodness, because he would no longer have the resolve to attempt to reform heaven.

I feel the same way. I can't believe that we are supposed to believe that Aziraphale could run Heaven or just walk out on both Crowley and the bookshop. Michael, Uriel, Saraquel, and METATRON all found Gabriel guilty. NOW metatron wants to clean things up. He's all in on the second coming which is just a nicer name for the apocalypse. What did metaron do to Aziraphale to make him co compliant? And who think Muriel could run the bookshop? She doesn't even know how to drink tea. Her total and absolute naivety got on my nerves after a while.

Okay, thank you, I needed somewhere to scream this from the rooftops THE WAY NINA AND MAGGIE’S RELATIONSHIP IS A PARALLEL FOR AZIRAPHALE AND CROWLEY’S???? Except while Nina seems to be pretty thoroughly done with her toxic ex and hopes to move on with Maggie when she’s fully over her old relationship, Aziraphale has never gotten over his toxic relationship with heaven, and when he’s asked to come back, he runs to them with open arms. Heaven is exactly like a toxic, controlling partner, and Aziraphale was fully in their manipulative grip for 6000 years, so even though they “broke up” with him by, you know, trying to kill him, when they rock in with a “I’m so sorry, baby, come back to me, things’ll be better this time” he uncritically falls for it, and Crowley screaming at him “they are terrible, do not go back to them” just pushes Aziraphale away the same that trying to tell someone that their partner is terrible and treats them like trash is likely to make them turn defensive and pull away. Crowley’s had many centuries to get over his toxic relationship with heaven, and he never had that emotional dependency on hell, hell was just his only option at the time, like staying at a shitty friend’s place because your ex kicked you out and you needed somewhere to stay, but Aziraphale just never had that same time or space (he was still an angel in every sense after he was banished, he never got drop-kicked out of holiness the way Crowley was, his sense of “angels are the good guys, I want to be good, I am an angel, therefore I am good” never got meaningfully challenged) from heaven to recover. I just…..have a lot of feelings rn. 🥲

Yes! I'm with you! Although I interpreted it as Azi having a toxic family relationship with Heaven. Heaven is where Azi "grew up" and was born (made?) so in that regard I thought it was a bit like growing up in an abusive family environment and Azi being defensive and/or naive about this "place" he is from and the beings he is "related" to (Crowley also had this history of abusive family but he asked lots of questions of why things were the way they were and chose a different path and ended up with a different identity [demon] which could've helped to differentiate from where he was from ). I've seen this type of scenario in real life and it's like it was being played out on the show so I just KNEW it was not going to end well. Right before the Metatron showed up, my instinct was like oh no something devastating is going to happen to them. Then the Metatron showed up and acted all nice to Aziraphale (which was suspicious) and I thought ahhhh nooo Azi is not ready, he's not there yet to let them go. Knowing in advance something is going to hurt doesn't make it hurt less tho. I feel so much frustration, and compassion, and grief for Both Crowley and Azi

You could not have explained it better, I really hope this is true as it kinda gives me hope that Aziraphale does really care about Crowley and just has a distorted view of heaven in his mind that clouds everything else. Like the rest of you I’m completely broken after that last episode, I don’t know what to do with myself 😭 I don’t believe the coffee theory or anything like that but your explanation makes me feel a little better knowing there’s still a chance for them, just like there was for Nina and Maggie

However even though they both had good reasons for their decisions, Aziraphale saying “i forgive you” kinds ruined it. Not like it was a fault of the writers or anything, I mean a fault if the character, I would feel sorry for him if he hadn’t reacted that was, or at least kissed Crowley back. It made it even more of a heartbreaking moment, which is genius of Gaiman but way too much for my heart to handle haha

For me, that "I forgive you" really read as internalized homophobia- not literally, I mean, after all he's fine with Maggie and Nina- but that same sort of feeling, anyway. The whole, this feeling is shameful, it's Bad, I'm supposed to be better than that, kinda thing.

THAT meant more to him, Crowley becoming an angel and going back with him meant more to him than anything they had NOW, and the way Crowley was NOW and that is devastating. Spending over 6,000 years developing this friendship and relationship as an angel and demon, just to be told everything would be better if he WEREN'T a demon...

You know, I saw a tumblr post that kind of said something different. Maybe Crowley saw what Aziraphale was saying as he could finally make Crowley good enough for Heaven, but really, Aziraphale was saying that he was finally going to make Heaven good enough for Crowley. imo we've seen a lot of how Aziraphale sees Crowley as the absolute best in both s1 and 2 and even as he's so desperate for Heaven's approval, he thinks that Crowley is perfect, and he wants everyone else to see Crowley the same way that he does.

That's not a slip of the tongue--that's him saying Crowley is the bad guy, that he can make him an angel and make him a "good guy" again, "like it was before". Except that we SEE "like it was before", and Crowley (Raphael?) treats him ENTIRELY differently. He barely acknowledges him, and the loving looks are entirely one-sided from Aziraphale. Everything that's been meaningful between them transpired after the fall, and Aziraphale just admitted point-blank that he considered Crowley the bad guy through it all. That's a knife to the gut, and Tennant REALLY shows it his reaction to that line. Aziraphale told him he's not good enough, rejected his complexities, and told Crowley how "even nicer" it would be if he changed, AND said he'd make him his second-in-command. Not his equal, his lesser.

They both misunderstood each other :( Aziraphale wanted to make things better for the both of them because he thinks it's the only way they'll be safe, meanwhile Crowley believes that they're better off abandoning Heaven and Hell altogether. Keep in mind, Aziraphale has NO idea what went down when they pretended to be each other. He has no idea how bad Heaven really is. So of course he would think that Heaven is the only way to fix things.

@@caseyd9471 I don't think he was actually saying that, but that's how it felt to Crowley. I think Aziraphale is so unaware of how bad both sides are, and he still holds onto the belief that Heaven is good. Crowley has seen both sides and knows better. Remember, Aziraphale never saw how Heaven was treating him because Crowley went in his place. They were going to kill the both of them for simply stopping a war. I think season 3 is going to have Aziraphale get some real hard truths about the way Heaven works.

Wow! Good catch. Seems like they do that in a lot of scenes. I’ll enjoy watching for this in my rewatch (wherein I pretend it’s an HEA finale😢)

"we can be angels...together!" Aziraphale choked out. "you were the only Angel I needed," was something Crowley probably thought to himself.

Az just absolutely not knowing how to cope with Crowley finally breaking their razer thin secret broke my heart.

11:37 but that's the point!!! Its desperately trying to hold onto something as it's slipping away. Even as the sand slips through your fingers you still close your fist to try and hold on to as much as you can for as long as possible, even when you know it's all going to wash away. It's crowley extending his hand even though he knows the gap is likely too far now hoping with all his being to feel AZ hand reach out back to him. It is nothing short of a volcano erupting. It's beauty and love but also pain and destruction.

I am so glad that the authors whose work I watched and loved four years ago are returning. Such a strange feeling. I don't know. Just thank you! You did a brilliant job on this video! I laughed a lot.

I love how if aziraphale tells Crowley "thank you that was very nice of you what u did for me" or "you're very nice to ME" Crowley just says "shut up" But when he's just called nice he flips out and throws awhole fuss about it😭 Its as if he's ok with being kind as long as its to help aziraphale or make aziraphale happy 😭✨ but he doesn't wanna be kind to anything else. Just his lover :'))))))

I think he does, he just gets into trouble from hell for being nice. Someone pointed out that after he told the grave digger girl to be good and gave her money, he got sucked into hell for 3 decades and then started asking aziraphale for holy water

We don't know the trouble Crowley gets into every time he helps Aziraphale, he doesn't say - just like he didn't tell Az what happened in heaven and what Gabriel said. He's been protecting his angel all this time, and in a lot of ways that backfired, since it was helping Az to stay naive.

The thing that broke me was when Crowley said “don’t bother” after Azi said “I forgive you”

I stimmed so bad when they actuallt kissed, i never thought that would happen, i thought they would go off this season without anything (or maybe forever)

Azi definitely has the picture in his coat pocket (as always) which is why he didn’t need to take anything to heaven at the end 🫠

This is great. All through season 1, I got the distinct sense that there was some pining between the two and that there were a lot of things being left unsaid. But I wasn’t sure if their relationship would ever be officially qualified as romantic or if it would just be left ambiguous. I think all the setup was present though and this feels like a logical progression for them. I hope we get a season 3. It seems too cruel to end things this way. Crowley and Aziraphale deserve a happy ending.

When I saw the kiss I was so happy… for like three seconds before my world came crashing down around me. This video made me feel a little less sh*t

Hope amazon does renew for season 3. I believe Neil said season two was like a filler because he has season three written out of something like that and they just couldn’t jump right into it. So, maybe just maybe we will get another season and see then finally being happy living in that cottage. I enjoyed this season very much! Loved the book and the TV show is amazing. Michael and David work so well together! I love watching them in staged 😂

This was supposed to be my emotional support show, and it led to an emotional breakdown😭

The “I forgive you” after the kiss and Azi touching his lips after the kiss broke me

I fully can’t watch the confession scene without making a baby eating a lemon face

Or something along those lines. The South Downs are a place in England.

I’ve watched this three times in a row already (my dad won’t sign into his prime account so I can watch it on my phone) and just- it’s always been clear in everything they both did how much they loved one another and never wanted the other to get hurt . And then the writers did exactly that…

yes someone else noticed az's look at Crowley during his "anything else about love" speech! such a sweet little cartoon wolf, utterly smitten

despite the tears I made at the end... seeing all these scenes of pure love finally made me smile. They love each other so much, for whatever reason Aziraphale followed Metatron I feel the distance from Crowley will lead him to join him again. They are two perfect actors playing the perfect roles.

This ending destroyed me like wtf, I think OFMD is probably one of the only other shows to send me into such a state of utter despair How did we get a break up scene before these two losers were even officially together??? 😭 I spent the last fifteen minutes or so of ep6 in a state of panic and heartbreak and on my birthday no less, at that point I hadn't heard that season 3 was scheduled so my delusional ass even spent the whole scene with Crowley getting into the Bentley for the last time WAITING for Azi to get in the car with him and run off together but NO I need season 3 immediately okay

You're not supposed to be the one who give us therapy, IT'S NEIL FAULT AND I WANT THE "I WAS WRONG" DANCE FROM HIM RIGHT NOW (and a season 3 if possible) ! But thanks for this video, free therapy is good

their love for one another is something i don’t see much on tv anymore. it’s subtle yet so obvious at the same time. you can see their love for one another through their actions and eyes, and it’s really beautiful. i’ve also never cried this much over a kiss before though 💀

My lord this season killed me 😭Crowley being the first one to use his wings as a cover - sobbing, Aziraphale writing a diary about his dates with Crowley - sobbing/giggling, THE GOD DAMN KISS - sobbing/screaming/generally just rolling around the floor! Such an amazing season, both writing and performance!

I haven’t seen anyone addressing the creepy look that The Metatron gave Crowley before leaving the shop with Azi. That’s exactly when I knew something would go wrong and just lost all hope 😢
