17:25 HUGELY IMPORTANT info for those who are planning to use Azelaic Acid for sun spots! Re: get them checked by your doctor first, as Azelaic Acid can help lighten even some forms of skin cancer, so you may be inadvertently delaying its diagnosis. Stay safe, guys. Thanks Dr. Dray, first video I've seen that mentions this.

I was given a prescription for a azelaic acid for using on my face at 19 for my acne. It helped my face so much. I was also put on accutane which changed my life, I had cystic acne all over my back, upper arms, and chest. Ten years later I noticed my skin becoming oily and breaking out again. I am now 43 years old. I have eczema around my eyes, eyebrows, and ears. I also have rosacea and people are always asking if I was like n vacation or in the sun. My nose pores are huge. The closest dermatologist is 2 hrs away from where I live. Thank you for your videos, the information is helping me chose some products to try. You are awesome.

Hi Dr. Dray! Do you have any videos on remedies for hyper-pigmentation from purpura? I know that lactic acid is generally prescribed along with a higher intake of ascorbic acid, but I was wondering if there are other treatments that can be considered for a more effective and hopefully permanent solution such as skin tone tattooing. Any advice on this topic would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Great information Dr Andrea. I have been treated with Azeleaic Acid for my Papulopustular rosacea for over 10 years with great success until last year when I had an uncontrolable postule breakout. My derm tried several other treatments to control the inflammation and breakouts and came to conclusion that is it related demodex mites. Tried it for a year with some success and now the breaks outs are back and I decided to switch back to Azeleaic Acid instead to see if my skins improves. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge with your community.

I've been using The Ordinary AA at 10% for a few weeks, and recently moved onto Skinoren (AA 20%). Context: I had rebound post inflammatory erythema caused by Mirvaso (brimonidine) in 2017, and sought out PDL to clear most of the redness. This helped lots. After several full face spot treatments, there are areas where the laser "missed" leaving pockets of faint redness which become scarlet upon applying Skinoren. The Skinoren application tingles and itches slightly for about 30 minutes. After an hour my skin color is settles back down and my face returns to its paler - albeit still blotchy due to PIE - baseline. Can I expect my skin to get used to this 20% formulation of AA over time? I did introduce it slowly and I hope that I can get my face fully back to its pre-Mirvaso baseline.

Hello! I started watching your videos a while ago and they have been extremely helpful! I'm 54 years old, luckily I haven't got many wrinkles yet, possibly due to my greasy skin. On the negative side, I've suffered with acne from the age of 13. A course of Accutane in my thirties cleared it completely, but it returned after a pregnancy a few years later. My skincare had always included harsh spot creams and possibly, light moisturisers, even though I always feared they would make my skin even oilier. I only used sunscreen if it was present in my moisturiser/foundation ( don't hate me!). Things have changed drastically, though. After taking your advice on board, I now use sunscreen religiously and moisturise every morning and evening. I particularly enjoy it as soon as I step out of the shower, still dripping wet and it had made such a difference to the skin on my face and body. I use Azelaic acid on any spots in the morning and Salicylic acid at night. It's still early days (1 month), but I can already detect a slight calming of my skin and the peeling and flaking, which before was ever-present despite the oiliness, is subsiding. I'm left with one major problem, though: I cannot stop myself from picking at any spots or flakes of skin which makes any lesions last for days/weeks. Sometimes it's conscious, but other times I do it without even realising. Do you have any advice for me, please, or would you consider doing a video on compulsive skin-picking? Again, thank you so much for all your informative videos! Martina xx

For anyone worrying about the price of finacea it is less expensive in other countries so maybe you can purchase from an international store and get it shipped to your house? (Dunno ir that works). I just got it at my local pharmacy (in Mexico) and it costs an equivalent of $20 US dollars and you don't even need a prescription. Idk, just an idea

Hello Dr. Dray, I had a cold sore flare up after a very stressful bout with viral bronchitis. I usually grab a spot treatment that contains salicylic acid which helps to ease the pain since I'm allergic to antivirals. Accidentally, I grabbed a spot treatment that contained azelaic acid and it really exacerbated the flare up. I didn't realize that this could be a problem until I googled it.

Yelen Carino-Talavera I'm actually doing Curology, have you heard of them? Dermatologists use three products specialized for your particular skin care after you've submitted a photo and discussed your issues. I have Melasma so my three ingredients are Tretinoin 0.02%, Azelaic Acid 5%, and Niacinamide 4%. I have no irritation at all and it's still a bit early to see much difference in my skin. I use Hydroquinone in the daytime and use the Curology at night and so far the Melasma is okay. I haven't heard of the one you mentioned, do you suffer from Melasma too?
