I’m surprised there hasn’t been more exposure of this mic. Seems like a perfect microphone for shooting student films, shorts, environmental and documentary style films!

Getting one in mint condition for a great price. I don't see myself bringing an expensive mic for my upcoming family trip. Looks like a pretty neat price of kit!

Another improvement over the old mic is now the TRS cable is fully removable, unlike the old model where it was permanently attached to the mic.

I have this microphone and it is really good. Just a couple of things that could be better is a thicker foam wind muff and I have also found if you try and put a hairy overcoat on it it fouls up on the suspansion arms and c auses a rubbing sound

Hey Chuck! Have you recognized that there's some hissing noise in the background when you're using the Mic? It's quite loud and you clearly can hear it very well because as you've tested the mic you've been in a quiet environment. So I ask myself if this is a problem of the mic or of the camera where the mic is plugged in?

The Azden mic is actually very quiet! However, the preamps on most cameras are noisy :( Its always better to record separate audio tracks on something like a Zoom handy recorder (and feed the output of that into the camera's audio input).... then in your video editor, line up both the Video/Audio and the separate Zoom audio tracks. Use just the Zoom's audio track and delete the camera's audio track.

Why would you mix mono and stereo at the same time? What is the application for? Just curious..

One example is to capture a speaker at the podium and mix in a small amount of the room ambience/audience - the result would be a recording just like someone in the audience would hear.

In general, I would say you would want to have a mix of mono and stereo when you're in any outdoor place where there is some ambient sound that you want to keep as it helps to established the scene. You then may want to have the ambient sound to be clearely separated from the main source of sound you want to capture like a talking character
