Hi Adam, I'm an older learner and you may not know this, but as an older person, mid 50's, we tend to learn better with diagrams, and illustrations. I just found your course and it's simply phenomenal. Your content makes so much sense and the visualizations help me understand all of the concepts. I truly hope that you'll continue with these tutorials including the az-104. I have a scheduled exam for March 9th, 2021. THANK YOU AGAIN for doing this.

Hi Adam, Could you please add video for *Availability set, Fault and Update Domain* as well. Also, I see Azure is designed to handle events by probability e.g. Local Rack or disk failure can be taken care by LRS. But Datacenter failure can be taken care by AZ and Natural calamities can be handled by Region pairs. :) I hope it help. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Hi Adam, your videos are really good, learning a lot. But I have a doubt. As there are region pairs which means contents in region 1 will be replicated in region 2 (region pair) as well, which will help us with availability but it is taking lots of storage as same content is present on both resulting in a huge cost, how that can be avoided?

Thanks for your great videos, I am watching these one by one. As I understand, Region pairs is included in the Azure service (no extra cost), not the case for availability that I assummed you need to pay for this feature. Am I correct?

Region pair is just like buying another car in another garage. In case one garage burns the other garage is good and car isn't damaged. But you still need to pay for the cars. Same here, if you deploy service in two regions you pay twice.

That was a really great episode, not too long but just enough details to get a good overview of the concepts. Microsoft has added two new kinds of resiliency called Geo-Zone Redundant Storage (GZRS) and Read-Access Geo-Zone Redundant Storage (RA-GZRS), can you tell what's more comparing to what you explained in this video?

  • @AdamMarczakYT

Thanks. GZRS is just combination of GRS and ZRS, so data is both located in 2 geographies but also across multiple availability zones. RA-GZRS is the same with the ability to read data from the second geo region.

In Episode 6 you discussed private cloud. If I host all my systems "on premise" why is it called "Private Cloud"? Is this just a fancy new name for "on premise" in the traditional sense? What is "Cloud" about it..meaning what is "Cloud" about a traditional "on-premise" data center and why is it suddenly called "Private Cloud"? Also, what is the difference from a security standpoint if I host data in the "Public Cloud" when I use all the proper security tools to secure my data in the "Public Cloud" as opposed to using a VPN to my own "on-premise" data center? I still must use VPN to get to the "Public Cloud" so what makes it less secure than my own "on-premise" data that is accessed over the Public Internet via a VPN connection? Even though I have all my infrastructure "on-premise" I can still be hacked just as easy (or perhaps easier) than in the "Public Cloud" assuming I use all the security tools available in the "Public Cloud". Is is just a matter of legal compliance and not necessarily a matter of security meaning just because it is "on-premise" does not make it more secure than "Public Cloud" given I still must use the "Public Internet" via a "VPN" to access the "on-premise" data. I am a bit confused on these points. Your lessons are excellent and thank you for your hard work!

In order to call a on-premise datacenter a private cloud it must fulfill the parameters of what we consider a cloud. We learned those in the previous episodes. So a private cloud should provide us with some or all advantages like scalability, durability, agility, availability, elasticity, etc. For security watch the rest of the course and after you if you still have question just drop in the comment. Thanks for watching :)

Hi Adam, I am confused in Availability Zone of VM and Replication option of Storage. In Availability Zone we get options like None, 1, 2 or 3 Availability Zone and in replication we get the option like LRS, ZRS, GRS etc. Both things do the copy of data so what is the difference? Also if I select Region like West India where there is no Availability Zone option then does it mean my VM is on risk?

Check out my video Azure Storage Account Tutorial where I explain replication options and what do they mean :) I think it will clear this up. In general replication options automatically make X-copies (3 or 6) of your data, where for VMs you need to create those VMs yourself or use VM Scale Sets.
