I’m sure a Japanese pro driver would almost be able to do the same job required for the set up, but it’s just wonderful and out of this world to have Senna test drive and set up there flagship supercar isn’t it? It’s truly a marriage made in heaven, both in a practical and marketing sense.
@winterpurple4587

Not really. Pro driver is a very vague term because there are many racing disciplines - road, off-road, drift, drag, etc. And under road racing there are many sub categories, each requiring a slightly different skillset. For example NASCAR racing is a different skillset to GT racing. And knowing GT doesn't automatically make you good in Formula racing. And vice versa. So on and so forth. Back then there was no Japanese Formula driver anywhere near the top, let alone Champion. And even today. They wanted the NSX to be Formula-derivative like Ferraris are. Hence the significance of feedback from a Formula Champion.
@williamxchau

@@winterpurple4587 good point, there may not have been a Japanese F1 driver as such, but all other Japanese cars were developed without one, the Nissan GTR was developed without one and it’s doing fine. I don’t really see Porsche or Lamborghini or even Mercedes needing to find Hamilton or Verstappen to test and develop their cars they have specific test drivers for that. I remain convinced that the marriage tho perfect, was 50% marketing.

One thing I've always noticed about Senna's driving, is that his steering inputs can be quite extreme, and same with this throttle inputs, jabbing at the throttle repeatedly. From footage inside the car things look extreme and aggressive. But video from outside the car, video from the side of the track, the car looks entirely composed, not changing its directional angle anymore than was intended. Always on the racing line, and always pointing in exactly the correct direction, unless he's using a little bit of oversteer to turn the car in a hairpin. That's how you know you're quick. When from inside it looks like you're wrestling the thing, but outside it looks like you're a chauffer. Example: 1:03

That perfect gear change at 1:35 where he completely nonchalantly kicks it into the next gear in nine frames (30 frames in a second, so 3/10ths of a second), while in the middle of a demanding corner, just casually correcting the change in balance in the car with his left hand two times during those 0.3 seconds!

This car had to be awesome. You can approach it half slidely as obvious from the vid. Not some drastic edges. Combined with this legend now looking from a bit different place...this car would be really majestic to own and have fun with, outside the city. Indeed it was a supercar...I love it two turns before how he keeps his line but with super smooth and only just necessary corrections on the steering wheel at 1:20. I mean, the whole drive is a gem, piece of art in motorsport history of youtube.

As a result of Senna's technical feedback at a testing session at the Nürburgring in 1989, the Honda engineers increased the stiffness of the chassis by 50% after saying the test mule felt "a little fragile". As far as i'm aware, this later session in 1992 was to fine-tune the suspension after his initial feedback.

This is very classy video with the music. The bright light also helps with the nostalgic feel. I can only hope he drove on into heaven like this. RIP good soul...
I will put it this way if Honda didnt leave He would not have died

Yeah, he changed to the dark side (Williams) and was being killed (steering column broke - was totally inadequate for the car).
Love the backing soundtrack!
The legend and his car, he was part of it and indirectly it became a symbol of senna.
This music is underrated
Partir a l aventure......

He’s on the absolute edge of grip. That’s why it looks like that 👍🏻
The best driver. Ayrton Senna for ever 🏆🏆🏆

Always makes my heart hurt watching this.
I used to hate that the video only has music played over instead of the actual audio inside the car Not anymore, the song seems to fit his smooth, yet aggressive driving style in such a way

Controle total do veículo. Sensacional!!!!
I have never seen anyone driving like that even in our times. He is doing it just obvious. When you feel and see...

Senna was a telemetric pilot. He felt absolutely everything. Tyre, suspension effort, engine , the slightest defect on the track for ajusting course and speed..... Such a talent. Schumacher was the last of this era of F1.

Newer generation of race drivers: "I don't like changing gears, I like to focus more on driving" Goat of Goats: Executes perfect gear changes in 3 tenths of seconds like it was unreal. Invents his own traction control system using his foot, gets casually into a car wearing dress shoes and drives in a manner you couldn't see the car.

Amazing track, driver and car.
I love you Ayrton Senna. Sempre!
Just let this sink in for a moment: He was testing this going all-out without any crash helmet on.
Such wonderful vid, watching Ayrton driving the Honda NS-X is all just awesome. Amazing driving skills, car control. I never forget the evening I was watching the Formula One race, at Imola' alone May 1st 1994. I was 14 years old. Ayrton, we miss you'. Those wondering about his lap-time: Approx 2.47 ×/- Using the NSX in GT7 can be replicated, with default car setup, or Ridox2JZGTE GT6 replica setup, from GTPlanet, GT6 Tuning thread. Using Comfort-Soft tires.
Thanks for the share. Awesome driver
RIP Legend 💔
For those looking this music, check this music 'sergio andrés - back to life', is a version but not remix.
he was one of the best how about that sideways action!!!!!!1 thanks for sharing legend driver

pure magic!!😊😊👐👐👐
What a legend!
What's the name of song/music?
Magnifique
This was 89 prototype, as you can see the plate still written NS-X, different wheels, different side markers, a bit different on interior also before stiffen the body up as Senna would suggest after driving in this clip and I think at this point still had no vtec engine with a shorter wheelbase too.
maestro...
In the Heart ❤️️
Does this music have a name? Dumb Google defaults to the video title. I want to add this to my Senna playlist on Spotify.
O Cara era foda.....!!!!!
Is there a version without the music? I want to hear the car only.
Still and forever the greatest of all time. Ayrton Senna DeSilva.
Amazing, I think the 1st gen 90's NSX is gonna become a future wanted collectible car demanding big time money.

Alguém me diga por favor o nome dessa música
Did the NSX of the time have a rake/reach steering wheel? Looks like he is miles too far away.

Satoru Nakajima was involved in the development far more than Senna was. Credit should also be given to Satoru.
