From the start I would like to admit that I am not up to date with the modern Oromifa. From what I understood, the two friends` discussion manifests the behaviour of two parallel lines, which will not have intersection. Ayana´s understanding of the fighting forces, the government and the oposition forces is completly different from that of the other guy. Ayana seams not to like guns and war for different reasons but still appears to accept the the guns and wars perpetuated by the government, meaning he accepts the gun hegemony of a government regardless of its actions. the other discussant seams to believe in just war theory. The opposition is fighting for a just cause and the government is an oppressor, which uses state power to subjugate the masses of the people. Trying to find a commen set of openions standing on the opposite side of a fence would be a tough endeavour but not impossible. Working on the different perceptions and understanding of the war to make them compatible with one another may help find common language.
