Axial SCX10 TR Aluminum Links Upgrade 12.3" (313mm)

Today I upgraded my Axial SCX10 Jeep Rubicon RTR links with the Axial RT 12.3” (313mm) aluminum link set - AX30550. The stock plastic rear links start to buckle a couple weeks ago and once they start, it happens all the time. When the links buckle the axle and wheels move forward and the vehicle can start to hop instead of crawl over objects.
The aluminum Axial link set is quality, but as the video will explain, the directions leave a lot to be desired. The diagrams in the directions and the part lists are good, but it doesn't do a good job breaking down the different options. Because they aren't well laid out, it took much longer than it needed to find the right steps to use for my Jeep (they should tell what directions you need for their models). After trial and error, I was able to get them installed and they look great and are really stiff compared to the plastic links.

    Nice job man. They look great! I meant to tell you earlier that you can also get another four link truss like the one on the rear and mount it on the front. This eliminates that Y piece that people have issues with pulling out of place after time. You will need to remove the rear screw on the servo mounting plate. I have done this on every SCX10 I have owned and never had a problem resulting from removing that screw.Great video man. Hope to see ya out on the trail again real soon. Thumbsup

    +RC Crawler Workbench Thanks Nate! I'll have to look into the four link setup for the front. I finally found the right spacer for the front....

    +2cwik4u104 Yes. I searched for a while trying to find options for this particular truck, but had a lot of issues. Maybe I wasn't searching for the right thing because several people have mentioned I should have gone with other aftermarket links.

    CCxRC there are many companies that make links, but ive always had great success with the axial links. I believe they are good enough. although I see Harley just installed a set of rc 4x4 performance 12.3 stainless link set. they seem real nice and they come with the revo ball ends as well.

    +DutchRC ADVENTURES Thanks. I thought it was an interesting way to give instructions. Took me a while to figure out what I was supposed to do. Still not sure it I did it like the manual would have had me, but everything is straight and appears to work.

    Hey man nice upgrades. And I totally agree with axial mauals...CRAP. Not sure what the best way is to have the the drive shafts?? I was planning something like that for mine but then wondered if dust dirt debris etc... could get down in the spline and cause binding issues.. Let me know how things go with it..or better yet...I will stay tuned and see how they do. Thanks for another great vid

    +RcNickster Good thought. I didn't think about dirt going down the spline. I had seen other people recommend the flip and it has seemed to make sense until you mentioned dirt going down into them. I'll have to see.

    Glad you like them. I forgot to mention the instructions sorry lol. But your instructions are different to the ones I got. mine had the wrong part numbers listed, but the diagrams where better then yours. Thanks for the mention :-)

    Thanks, this is very helpful. I am thinking of getting this for my RTR Rubicon and I am new to the R.C World and one of my plastic lower front links is bent like a banana and I don't have a spare. Would you recommend this as a first attempt upgrade and does your front drive shaft rub on the new "Y" link. Mine rubs badly on the stock plastic one and It would cost me 65.00 English pounds inc post for this kit, which to me is a lot of money. Thanks Thumbs up :)

    The links on this older SCX10 are plastic 3 link. I bought an upgrade kit for mine that are metal and allow for 4 link conversion...I stayed 3.

    Help! I did the links upgrade, but now when I make hard turns my truck (steering servo) shakes. The truck is fine if I am not turning. At first the entire truck was shaking and I realized the driveshaft wasn't lined up properly. But now when I turn it shakes....any tAny thoughts. Great video thank you!

    Why didn't you do 4 link set up in back?

  • @CCxRC

    @CCxRC

    +Brian Pinault The back is 4 link, but the front is 3 link. I need to get a 4 link mount for the front axle and will eventually upgrade that to 4 link as well. For the time being, I just wanted to eradicate the flex and movement of the plastic links.
