And the build off begins. That's a really smart idea on the shocks, that no cost mods will allow the kiddy to add up and do some great up grades in the future smart thinking. So looking forward to the battle of the budget build.

Love the series very inspiring, I have a Honcho so I have been following your comments closely (yes I now have a shopping list) , I made the suspension changes that you did in Week 1, but found that I still bottomed out when crawling, I ended up going up to 35wt Shock oil, swopping out the front white 1.13lbs/in springs for the green 1.70 lbs/in springs but still kept the Yellow 2.63 lbs/in on the back, and I still had to turn the tension collars down 8mm on all four shocks until I no longer make contact with the body panel on front and rear, I am not carrying a spare wheel on the back and I am running a 2S battery pack (267grams) am I missing something here?

  • @HarleyDesignsInc

Making contact with the chassis or body is ok, some rubbing is not a problem. I would rather keep everything very low and controlled rather than more rigid and never rubbing.

No problems with leaking shocks? Mine were leaking - pretty badly at that - out of the box. I'm also noticing when my rear axle articulates the lower and upper links on the side being compressed come into contact with each other preventing full articulation. Don't think that bind up is a problem though, seems to have more articulation then needed. Spacers, there's a set in the box - I think they are a part of the optional light mounts included, but they also work fine for spacing out the rear shocks on the towers. I performed your spring swap and rear shock tower mods in addition to clearancing the pan hard bar and trans cover (which I know you do in your next video). :-)

There is a small plug on the ESC that needs to be changed to NIMH. Most people use LIPO so that’s the default configuration. The ESC things you’re using a 3s Lipo and is sensing too low of a voltage once your NIMH sags.
