    Great review, wonderful footage, perfect crawl spot. I will be getting this sometime next year. I need to find a top for it though, rag top or hard top, and a little driver. I know a top will hurt performance a bit, but I'll just add some weight down low to balance it out. It just doesn't look right with no top in Utah winter.

    You'll love it. If you're running for fun, all I would be in any sort of rush to upgrade are the steering knuckles. The included tires are fine, but most guys switch them out if they are entering competitions. I am really liking the Pit Bull 1.9 tires. You can check out a review of them at RC Truck Stop. I also recommend high clearance knuckles and CVD axles for strength and extra turning.--Matt Higgins

    Your questions are great, so no worries. While the battery plug is anything but large, the one used in this and most other hobby-grade RC vehicles that use this style of plug is the large size.--Matt Higgins

    The stock setup is fairly soft. Articulation is limited by spacers on the shock shafts that limit how much the shocks can be compressed. Having the articulation actually helps performance.--Matt Higgins

    The Wraith and Ridgecrest are actually very similar in performance out of the box--they use the same axles and transmission. With 2.2 sized tires they both can take on larger obstacles, in general, than the Jeep and other SCX10 vehicles. That said, the Jeep is very appealing because it so closely resembles the real thing. Basically and to answer your question, I don't think you can go wrong with any of the three trucks you mention.--Matt Higgins

    I recommend a 2S (7.4 volt) pack in the 2000 to 5000mAh range. 5000mAh packs are nice for the tremendous amount of runtime they provide crawlers, but they also add weight in a place in your crawler that raises the center of gravity. So, bigger isn't always better when it comes to capacity. Duratrax makes a 4000mAh hard cased pack that is a good compromise. Also, while that pack is hard cased, I'm not sure you have to get 100% on having hard case in a crawler like the SCX10.--Matt Higgins

  • @RCTruckStopVideos
    @RCTruckStopVideos11 жыл бұрын

    That is a great question. I recommend a 2S (2-cell) LiPo and, of course, a LiPo-compatible charger. A pack with a capacity of around 3000mAh will provide substantial runtime, but not be needlessly heavy. I use a MaxAmps battery because they are waterproof, but there are many great brands. Thanks for watching the video and please let me know if you have any other questions.--Matt Higgins

    Well, you're in luck. We love questions! The Axial RTR includes what is often called the "Tamiya plug." This plug works fine and was the industry, but the connectors inside the plug wear to a loose fit with a lot of use and the plug is not ideal for high volt applications (not the case here). I immediately upgraded to a Deans Ultra Plug.--Matt Higgins

    Nice man awesome you got 1 that means there released and can be bought... So this rtr doesn't come with a led kit on it that is bogus of axial to do because rtr always came with all electronics including leds oh well it is still awesome I just wish they would release a kit version I would rather to build it myself to paint it the color I would like it to be but maybe they will in a few months I'm gonna contact them n see ..

    No, the RTR Axial vehicles uses a Tamiya connector. I would suggest swapping that for a Deans Ultra Plug and buying a LiPo with the same. The Tamiya plug is okay for light duty use, but should probably be replaced when switching to LiPo.--Matt Higgins

    These look neat...I'll simply have to waterproof the bearings before I hit the water. I had a Honcho and it was a blast...the fastest motor I would choose is an Axial 20 turn modified. I don't believe the ESC was designed for much faster motors. Thumbs up tahnks

    thank you so much Matt.. but it's not yet available here in Indonesia at the moment.. the ones that are on the market are the Dingo & Honco version, I guess I have to wait for it to be available.. then the price would be a bit over average, counting the tax and other stuff.. heheheee

    That's an option. Keep in mind that coating electronics with epoxy or a compound like Plasti Dip does cause them to retain heat. It also completely voids any warranties. Not saying that it's not worth doing, but you need to know what you're getting into.--Matt Higgins, RC Truck Stop

    The easy answer is yes you can. Many people run Traxxas electronics in their crawlers for a variety of reasons. Give it a shot and just watch the motor and speed control temps. If it seems to run too hot, check the gearing.--Matt Higgins

    I'm not sure I follow what you mean. The gear mesh is set from the factory as the vehicle is a RTR (ready to run). That said, a prebuilt RTR vehicle's gear mesh could be off, but this vehicle happens to have the gear mesh set correctly. Thank you for watching and commenting, jessiahrobin. • @RCTruckStopVideos

    Great question, but in my opinion, it's a bit of an unfair comparison as the Jeep in this video and review is a scale vehicle and has smaller 1.9 tires and the Ridgecrest is a 2.2 crawler with significantly larger and more aggressive tires. But to answer your question, in the right hands, the Ridgecrest would be more capable. I am sure a good driver--really working to avoid getting hung up--could go just about anywhere a Ridgecrest could go. Thanks for watching!--Matt Higgins
