Axial CJ-7 Test Run with 90mm Desert Lizard shocks
Just a test run to try a couple changes. Removed the 100mm desert lizard shock and put on 90mm with light springs in the standard setup, not droop, and 30w shock oil. Might need put the medium springs or heavier weight shock oil in them since it is a fairly heavy truck. Also spaced out the rear shocks to hopefully help with stability with climbing. Then added the JConcepts Rupture tires with Squid’ncerts on Treal wheels. Seemed to do surprisingly well.
Thanks so much for watching!

Well thank you sir, I appreciate that! You can absolutely steal that idea, better yet I’ll leave the amazon link for those lights, but you get whatever lights you want. I don’t get anything for anyone using the link or buying anything. Any ideas you get from my stuff you’re absolutely free to do, use, or expand on. I’m glad I was able to give you an idea or two. Wish they still made the wraith. lol I had a red 1994 Pontiac sunbird 4cyl (25 years ago) that barely went 70mph and I got more tickets going 5mph over then in any other car, ever. To this day I will never own another red car. 😂 Thanks so much for watching! Really appreciate it!👍

Yeah man!! When you take that COG and lower it. You are bound to get a better result. She did great out on the course and I think it's obviously driving better. I got a plan for a CJ-7. Hopefully be ready for this summer. :) Great video.

I watched a video... don't recall by who now but they moved their shocks out at the axle only so that they pointed inwards at an angle. Their reasoning was that it was a trick they learned in comps to create more stability when side hilling. I have yet to test the theory on my CJ. Good build so far mate. I'm waiting for the snow to go away so I can film mine after its mods have now been done. Look forward to seeing more from you. Cheers

Thanks so much! I appreciate that! Moving the rear shocks out “in theory” should act like anti-roll and stabilize the rear in a climb, however between the new tires and the shorter shock lowering the center of gravity, I really can’t be certain if it worked or not, but something did. I should test one thing at a time but ended up just putting all on while I was at it. Thanks again watching & the support! 🍻👍

Ohhhh man do they to anything let alone they killer rig bam you got a freaking crawler!! Low mean and tires that never slip….well until wet Your course is nice dude!!! Ima mason so appreciate the materials…I pretty much just do stone veneer these days but still. Got piles of block and stuff everywhere. But I have natural stuff…someday I wanna bring more stuff into my woods to my course in my yard…big boulders 99percent of my videos that aren’t at the ocean are there. I struggled w my desert lizards and gave up…springs all twisted together. I run most my lcg stuff just no springs and dig they with banding.

I was very surprised with the JConcepts Ruptures. They did really good. The course I made out of old landscaping bricks just laying around and some old pallets so figured I could do something with them. Still working on the course though. Really appreciate it!

The desert lizards are pretty easy to setup. I’ve done about 4 sets of them already. The springs that come already in the shock body are the light springs and you can use those as they are. Depending on the weight of your truck you can just use a little heavier weight shock oil. Personally I like mine very responsive so I use the light springs with 20 or 30 weight oil. The extra springs in the package can be a bit of a pain to separate but just fiddling with them for a bit while watching tv or KZread will get them separated. Bleeding the shocks can be a bit tricky. Don’t over tighten when compressing and don’t tighten when the shock is extended. There’s a happy medium there that you have to find.

Hi. I want to say thank you for all the info. I just bought my first rc and crawler, and it's RED......... but no tickets yet......I would like to know what are the figures in the CJ. Love what looks like 5 point harnesses as well. Cheers Wayne in Australia.
@NEO-RC
Ай бұрын
You’re very welcome and thanks so much for watching! So the figure driver/passenger can be any 6 inch action figure. I tried a 7 inch figure and they are bit too big. The 5 point harness, and the action figures, you can find on amazon or Ali express and I’ll leave a link below for general information. The harness/seatbelt is a bit of pain to set in the truck properly but keeps the figure secure in the vehicle and looks really scale. a.co/d/50nFlVx a.co/d/dHx6OdP a.co/d/2QGJiy6 a.co/d/2a41HVp
seems like you were getting a lot of 3 wheel action where there should have been enough articulation to keep all four grounded...?

Yeah I would agree, I’m still tuning the suspension and playing around with it. Thanks so much for watching!!
Is that just a single spring? If it is you might consider a spring above and below the piston.
@NEO-RC
4 ай бұрын
No sir it is a dual spring shock. Small/short spring above the piston or shaft and medium length below the piston. Having them upside down the way I do is really a semi droop setup. They do have a long spring available in the kit for a single spring setup.
First of all, big compliments on your nice video and crawler track. I have a few questions; Did you use the short soft spring on the top and the middle soft spring underneath it? Which shock oil did you use 350 cps or heavier? Why mounted the springs upside down? Thank you in advance and keep posting these great videos.
@NEO-RC
3 ай бұрын
Thank you sir, appreciate the kind words! I mounted them upside to try and it’s like setting them up in a semi-droop configuration. Turn them right side up and the back to a normal sprung configuration without having to take the shocks apart and moving springs around. So with the shocks right side up, I used the short soft spring on top and the mid length soft spring on the bottom. I used 20 weight or 200 cst shock oil.
@ivovgeldorp849
3 ай бұрын
Thank you for your clear and fast answer, I tried the little soft spring on top and the large soft on the bottom, but that configuration couldn’t hold the car😂 (also a axial cj-7) Tomorrow I will try the medium soft set up, see if that works.

@@ivovgeldorp849 your very welcome sir. I’m still playing with shock configurations myself to see what I like and what behaves the best and most natural or scale. @@ivovgeldorp849 I kinda like the stock shocks better to honest. They’re a little more plush and behaved more natural in my opinion. I’ll probably go back to the stock shocks. Not that the desert lizards are bad though either. Kinda want to try the pro-line scaler shocks too but not sure I want to waste the money.
I have a Mamba X in a Trx4 and it whines big time, so I was looking to put the Fusion Pro in my CJ7 but I was hoping it was going to be not as loud, however, in your video it sounds pretty loud...do you think your mic is exaggerating the sound is the Fusion Pro loud in your experience?
@NEO-RC

The mic is exaggerating the sound and it’s more the gears than the motor. Might have the spur and pinion too tight but whines a little. The fusion pro is very quiet. Also have it in my Ecto and very quiet. Thanks so much for watching!
