Axial AX90059 SCX10™ II Trail Honcho™ 1/10th Scale Electric 4WD - RTR
The SCX10™ II Trail Honcho™ is the reliable choice for scale trail fun! For the past nine years the SCX10™ has been the staple vehicle platform for scale trail enthusiasts around the world. When it’s you, the trail and your rig, you want the tried, and true. You want real world community tested, hobby shop supported, aftermarket supported with close to ten years of history and scale trail adventures. The Trail Honcho™, built on the SCX10™ II chassis, meets the demands and the rigors of scale trailing miles from home when you need reliability the most!
The Redonda Ridge Trail, within the mountains of Big Bear California, is mostly used by off road motorcyclist, and revered as the Malcolm Smith Trail due to it’s technical tenacity.
The trail was recently re-visited by one of Axial’s own; part of a crew who had traversed the 9.68 mile OHV trail a few times in the past on motorcycles. The thought came about that it would make for a great SCX10™ proving ground, thus the idea was conceptualized to hike the trail, and put the latest version of the Trail Honcho™ through its paces, to uphold the “Trail Honcho” name by putting it on a “black diamond” trail for full size vehicles. Axial takes toys seriously, plays seriously, and made plans to go the extra mile to showcase the Axial SCX10™ Trail Honcho™ in it’s true, namesake terrain.
Equipped for heavy duty trailing - AX10™ transmission, single-piece AR44 axles, Method Hole wheels, Falken Wildpeak M/T tires and a set of four LED lights - the Trail Honcho™ takes the lead and puts your stamina to the test.

No matter how you stack it, I'm extremely happy to see the Honcho still lives!!! ;)
I bought a TRX-4 I'm happy with it, it's a neat truck, really . Part of the reason is though, the SCX10II was sold out everywhere at the time, RPP/Tower etc. have three SCX10s still yet to get a SCX10-2. Keep up with the quality and service Axial, your doing great! From my B17 Betty AX10 to my SCX10s . No complaints ! 👍😁 this video makes me feel like I'm watching a Petersens 4 Wheel and Off Road Ultimate Adventure , rc fashion 😉
Stupendo axial honcho !!!! bel posto per off road!! ho già il deabolt ma tra un pò prendo anche questo!!! bravo!!!
Awesome video thanks for sharing. My son and I do the same people with dogs always ask you guys walking the trucks and my 7 year old tells them yep and ours listen and do tricks without the mess lol
☕️ you guys gotta come to Maine Acadia national Park would be perfect 👍🏻 nice ocean breeze on a hot day! I’m already looking forward to axialfest!
Great! I like this model the Honcho. 👍 Thanks to Axial for coming back with the SCX10 II Trail Honcho. :o) I Pre-order. 👍 Yvan :o)
Thanks for doing this video. Honcho inspired can’t wait
Bringing back the Honcho, yeah!
I lost the center gear in my first Honcho after 11 month's, of crawling on the serious rocks following a Losi Night Crawler. I also removed all the grease from every bearing as well as the inner seals from all the same bearings. I added 3MM sets crews to the front and rear axles also one in the trany case, so I could add a shot of WD-40 to each assembly before I go submarine it. I never lost a bearing in the years I ran it, only that center great when I was plowing the front frame support into the rock. Because I was pretty sure if I could get the front 2.2" R35 Ripsaw tires on the rock, that I could get the line!!!
Very cool. Great videography. Great vid.
Wow that was awesome, thanks for sharing such an awesome adventure this is what I love to do, I scribd to your channel , I'll be watching for more
That is so rad! What an amazing video.
Cant be too bad if the Honcho has travelled a 9 mile course on this video. Not too expensive either....👍.
awesome! would of been a treat to do
Fantastic
I bought an scx10 honcho a month before the 2 came out. Spewing! :,( still really enjoying it though
I do like scale accessories and shiny upgrades mmmmm and its so easy to get sucked in to the must upgrade game lol but it is nice to see a bare bones rig out there :)
Really cool. Been thinking about making a channel so people can see the beautiful trails in New Mexico. This is really similar to what i is as thinking of doing

Please do it !! Should be beautiful !!
ps by the way great video and I would of loved to shred this trail on my race bikes few years back ;-)
Very cool !!
Got one in the mail :)
Great video Rodney! I gotta give props to the camera man though... As someone who has a decent bit of experience filming these types of videos I can only imagine playing leap frog to catch the shot all day in that terrain with your hiking pace lol!! Nicely done!

@EXTREME SCALE PERFORMANCE RC you are definitely right I myself I have tried filming my RC’s and it is quite difficult, I can’t wait to get my hands on one of these, btw I can’t wait for your AxialFest Movie for 2017, keep up the good work axial and ESP!
I like it!
Hopefully this is going to be an RTR with l.e.d. lighting, and the same steal links as the 2000 Jeep Cherokee. I love the RTR Cherokee because it's a total animal on the Rocks and can take down a decent incline running box stock, and the Honcho has less junk in the trunk when compared to the Jeeps station wagon body 😈

Robert Leland, I always remove the spare tire first thing, then add a little lead to compensate for that plastic cage. Also reposition the center mounted battery plate, well on the first generation Honcho anyway. And it could crawl with the Losi Night Crawler. It was called the "FREAK" because it was running a full frame and was just shy of unstoppable, for being a Scale Trail rig. This new Jeep 2000 rtr can get a 55° incline running the stock body, but a 60° incline with the body is a no go. Unless you add some weight out front. The difference between a body and no top heavy body is without any extra weight added is 5°. I will get the new second generation of Honcho and test it out on the incline, to see what it's going to be capable of getting with all that plastic hanging in the trunk.
I'm still running stock dog bones on my rtr honcho. 3 cell 550 21turn
Hahaha, I didn't realize my Jeep 2000 had S30 tires on it 😈
PS: I REALLY MISS MY HONCHOS!!!!!
re-watched this while waiting for my SCX6 Honcho!! I bought my scx10ii Honcho because of this vid and article. Would love to re-read the article, but can't find it, is it deleted?!? Please help, Honcho is trail-love!

To those whining about plastic links...... They're MUCH stiffer than the other plastic Axial links. I'd STILL change them - but that's still a LOT of Rig for the Money!!! I don't get to buy anything I want, when I want. I'm a Disabled Veteran, with a VERY fixed income... I've never been able to afford a new *anything* in RC in almost 15 years. However, I'm at least closer to getting one of those!! I do wish it came in a KIT, but beggars can't be choosers, right? I'd also LOVE a Wraith Spawn Kit...... Maybe someday. Carmine 🚂

I'd love a new Honcho - even if it's NOT a kit... 😎😉
Just realized there's no spare Tire hanging out in the Trunk, so no longer can a fella buy four Honcho rigs, and have a spare set of tires. Bummer Dudes!!!

edwong3, I really don't want the new S30 compound tires. So I totally agree with you about having four rigs that all are running the same everlasting set of tires. Now consider having four R35 tires. You now have 5 set's of stock tradeable tires, that are actually worth having. Don't get me wrong, the S30 tires are going to last for a very long time! And that's great! But they are pretty tough to sell, unless you're giving them away.

Haha, it's all good man!!! ;) I love driving the TRX4 as much as the SCX10 II, and when it comes to crawling the serious rock lines. I always run the SCX10 II, because it's so lightweight and just shy of unstoppable!!! I have to say that the TIRES MAKE THE TRUCK!!! Even in the 1:1 world ;) because your truck is only as good as the tires under it ;) My Nero was the ultimate scale trail crawling monster truck, there's no substitute for cubic inches!!! Haha, or torque 😈
Any reason why axial went with the ax trans rather than the new scx one?
Im still on the fence with the new axial jeep. Why because becasue I have each model of trx-4's. But don't get me wrong I might get the axial its just there is alot going on for the buck with the trx4. Bottom ling is no matter what rtr most get, first thing most do is start changing the heck out of everything lol.

agreed trx-4 are so much better i have an scx10. people who say scx10 out preform trx cleary haven't driven a trx-4. axial isn't bad the worst part is the tires they are so hard and plastic everywhere
Is the honcho we see in this video completely and totally stock out of the box just kind of curious

That was the look I was going for! hehehe SOMEONE PICKED UP ON IT!!! I have that photo of Bill with boonie hat and face paint! I was hanging in the office with all the other collateral for the making of the trip!
Where is the spare tire in back? Big miss!
I️ thought all trans gears were metal now. Which gear did u have to replace?
Okay, the Plastic Link's are very disappointing! But there's a plus too this rtr or I suppose there's a few pluses!!! That new $329.99 price tag makes those Plastic Link's all the more tolerable!!! The Headlights/Taillights are a welcome plus also!!! I have to ask about the R30 Tires, are they not a step up from the R35 Tires? Are they less sticky than the R35 Compound? Because this would also be a negative, by weight of comparison to the R35 Tires. Because it's only $26 less than the Ripsaw running first generation Honcho.

S30 are the stock on every 10ii. They are much stiffer and less sticky than the R35. Soak them in paint or lacquer thinner for a couple hours (off the wheel and with no foams) and they get really sticky and soft. You can do this if they are still on the wheel with the foams, but the foam will be effected by this and the wheel will be a slightly different black. It's not really that noticeable though.

Zack.Whicker3903, I run black Electrical Tape on the two breather holes. I hate having soggy foams, and having the tires making the front to back weight bias total waked out ;)

Vaterra has a nice Ford body, headlights, metal links, spare tire, $339.99. I️ luv axial, but I️ wish they would’ve at least had a hard grill & headlights. Still a good rig though.

HBGEB, I really miss Axial owning Axial!!! The CF-100 was so totally AWESOME!!! Aluminum Link's, Beadlock Wheels R35 Ripsaw Tires, it was second to none!!! Now all the rtr rigs are having less & less impressive part's. Maybe because there's way more money in part's than selling the rtr's or kit's. The kit is $350 & the rtr is $410, and the Jeep 2000 doesn't have R35 tires or any l.e.d. lights. But it has a great set of Steel Link's! And now that Tower Hobbies wants full prices for everything Axial related, it's getting really tough to want to spend more money on less impressive products... the Honcho at $355.99 used to be bought for $310.99 with a $45 off coupon. Yeah I know it's only 45 dollars, but that's a great start on a new set of Beadlock wheels and R35 Ripsaw Tires! I really miss those days!!!
How many you bring the batteries?

720p?
old body,. plastic links,. probably even plastic gears in the gearbox,.. axial is obviously broke,. but luckily many other brands to choose from!
I hope it's not gonna have plastic links, no spare tire, same as the original honcho body, seriously? Not very impressed, the jeep version is much nicer.

Dwayne Baker seen where you commented on Joshs (ESP) post. I surely won't by this thing with plastic links. They've gone backwards on this rig and it doesn't make sense to me

probably for cost, given its only 330. For an SCX10 II, thats pretty good considering before this it was 400 for a rtr

not only plastic links but after the 2017 wrangler all metal gear trans this is plastic gears again cheap cast diff pinion and spur the axle it all one piece the axle, truss, and knuckles are all one single piece of plastic so if you break a knuckle your intire axle housing needs replaced

Like the rig, music is annoying...
Killer.
That music is extremely annoying! Come on, did you not hear that rear piercing high pitched sound in the music?!
