Axial AX24 Better With $150 In Options?

Drivers are quickly finding out that the Axial AX24 found here: bit.ly/3HQydyg is a fun and very capable crawler out of the box. But this is a model hobby after all and it’s only a matter of time before those drivers want to bolt option parts onto their rig. Luckily when the AX24 was launched, Axial also announced a bunch of option parts and we got our hands on them. In this video Greg goes over what’s available and bolts them onto a bone stock rig so you can see how it performs with the new options.

I just picked my AX24 yesterday, and I threw on the SSD Wheels with brass rings. My favorite feature is the Four Wheel steering. Seeing that you're putting brass servo mounts on makes sense to me. I can't wait to do some competitions with my rig. I love your review!

Back in the day , I had the original AX-10 , flip the shocks upside down , & turn the steering servos around for behind the axle steering ......this will give you more weigt down low without sacrificing grond clearence & give you more clearence at the axle ,ie rocks hitting steering link , . If you run springs do firm in the rear , it will still flex , but it will climb 100% better & eliminate torque twist when climbing , run medium springs up front this will keep it from rolling on steep desents , Also cut each tread block in half so it's like spreading apart from itself like fingers way more grip , that's my 2 cents worth of knowledge for you , have fun !

The worst thing on it are the shocks. They're just plain awful. Second is the motor. I fixed the shocks by combining some parts from a set of Hot Racing SCX24 shocks I had in the drawer with the stockers. They no longer "jiggle and it's much more stable. I also added SCX24 front "disc brake" weights along with some Treal wheels with heavy rings, and some Injora 64mm "Rock" tires that are pretty darn sticky. I also added Treal front steering links, which tightened things up nicely. Tomorrow, more parts arrive.. two new Emax servos with Treal servo mounts, another set of steering links for the rear, a Treal skid, Treal knuckles, and some overdrive gearing for the front diff. Next week sometime, the big one arrives -- a Furitek Micro Komodo and Lizard Pro setup, and an FS-BS6 receiver so I can control the rear steering properly. So far, this thing is pulling off (or nearly pulling off in some cases) lines that my UTB18 Capra and some of my 1/10 scale rigs have done. Most SCX24 parts work on this thing so no need to spend $$$$ on Axial's stuff or if those parts aren't in stock.

Lower control arm nuts are such a pain to find locally. Axial doesn't have the super tiny nut size or sell them as replacement parts. The only part with those micro tiny nuts is the Chassis Set for the AX24. Axial part number - AXI201004.

Not for nothing but I've had my XC1 for a little over a week and yes it did roll over allot, I mean a dirty look and there it goes on its side but I gotta say that with all the practice I've been getting it doesn't roll over on me as much any more its doing great and I didn't have to give Axial any more of my money. I mean after all getting a great price on something means just that I not going to spend a dime on modifications to get it to do what its supposed to do out the box, anyway I'm really liking this truck.

Are you really promoting the brass parts by axial? All of them is except the skid are not worth the money whatsoever, they're a rip off for the price. Promote injora or something

  • @mickd8188

The only rip-off is Injora.. just another Chinese company ripping off legitimate companies intellectual property without doing any development or putting on cool events like Axialfest. I get it... they're cheap parts, but they do no product research or development, just simply copy mainstream brands with no care and are mostly inferior quality. The only reason they exist is because people want to nickel and dime and there is no way of legal prosecution.. Support the companies that support your hobby. Cheers

Oof. $160 rc with $150 in upgrades? All these small scale RCs have the same issue, CG is always terrible, shocks are never any good, and the motor is always too weak. The rig needs weight to fix the CG than the motor can no longer handle the weight. Another disappointment.

I just bought an AX24, and will spend Far Less on total upgrades than those that do 1:18 scale. Partially because the parts in general are cheaper (mainly because of the size difference), and also because I'm not looking to compete. All-in, I'll be in it at ~$350, which is a Fraction of the cost that most people spend on their 1:18 rig. But to me, they're all super fun!!

You can add inexpensive stick on weights they use for balancing car wheels. Most hobby shops sell them. We stick them on the tops of the servos for weight below the suspension. Very inexpensive way to get a little performance boost.
