Thanks Tom for sharing this video….since I’m in no way a farm girl, I had no idea that it could be too wet outside for cows and they wouldn’t like to eat wet grass! I figured they live outside a good part of the year so they’d be used to rain ( less flies maybe too) and that wet grass would hydrate them at the same time. I’ve learned something today, and I thank you. Your cows look nice and comfy inside and it’s thanks to you listening to what the cows are showing you what they need and want. Good on you. ❤️👍

I know you will be happy when the new parlor is done, but can you imagine how happy the cows will be with the bail out of the shed? SO much more room to spread out and do fun things. And of course, the new parlor is more efficient which leaves more time for doing cow stuff.

I think that's great. It's wet the ground will get crazy hoof prints then you don't want a cow stuck. The rain will help the grass grow for more grazing. Using those values of hay is a great idea. The fact of the new shed is that you can house all of them. And it's comfy.

Hi Tom, the worst thing to do is double handle hay, but as you know things don't always go to plan. There is many countries complaining about the amount of rain they have had in July, so there is lots of unhappy farmers. It's funny how your dad hears you but still stacks the bales his way. Your cows are being very cheeky and they just love being inside with loads of feed. When are you going to show us the work going on in the background, the suspense is killy me? Another great video as always. Chris from Australia 🇦🇺.

I was glad of the rain in July until about the 25, won’t deny my grassland needs a dry spell to get the dry matter and sunshine to improve the sugars. You use what’s available and what makes sense at the time to feed your cows and work with what’s in front of you . Heavy Cheshire clay here but have the infrastructure to keep grazing pretty much February to December . Keep pushing on , lots to look forward too and your enthusiasm and energy is inspiring 👍

Tom, little known switch on newer Manitou Teles is that they have an override switch (for very occasional use ahem 😜) which allows you to over ride the load indicator, very handy for getting out of sticky situations. It’s normally situated on left hand side of seat, next to DPF regen button (if it’s got a DPF). I currently have a MT1440 A (14m boom and 4 tonne capacity) and a MRT 3050 (Manitou Rotating Telehandler, 30m boom and 5 tonne capacity). Probably going to upset some but find the Manitou’s much better machines than the JCB Loadalls.

Having grown up on a dairy farm, I can empathize with you over the rainfall, but here in Central Texas we are experiencing the worst drought while you are the other extreme. We haven't had a drop of rain since June10. And we've experienced 100 degree F. plus since the week after that with no relief in sight. I wouldn't change places with you but it would be nice if we both enjoyed some moderation.

I feel your pain Tom. Cows are always signalling as they are intelligent animals. New parlour coming which will be a pain at the start but cows will soon fall into line. Best wishes and dry days to you all!

After watch the way you guys operate around the farm for the last couple years I would suggest trying a big jcb teleskid on demo for working in all the low clearance tight areas and much better agility and then keep the Manitou for all the bigger stuff and outside work like loading your feeder wagon

We're drowning here in central Ontario, Canada like you are. Hardly a day goes by without rain and we had golf ball sized hail for an hour yesterday.

On clearing or moving “stuff” that’s in the way . If it’s being handled for the second time and hasn’t been used it goes to one spot and that’s the bin

Here in the province of Quebec, Canada, we've had the wettest July ever. We had more than twice the average amount of rain. It is very hard on farmers. My garden isn't doing great with all the moisture so I can't imagine how bad it is for large scale fruit and vegetables farmers.

Hi Tom, in this country you can never have enough space under a roof. I’m sure you will see a great benefit when you get the roof over your silos, but another roof for storing bales, either hay or straw so you don’t have to keep moving them would be a good investment. Unfortunately in farming it’s hard to see the returns for any investment these days.
