Fans have found out, that the version 3.2.8 still uses Steam Networks for matchmaking, and IS, in fact, playable. The devs have put that old build in the beta branch. So... You can still play it. I do. It's a bit barren... But it still works. I really hope someone buys off the IP. Awesomenauts don't deserve this...

I plan on reviving this game through mods and other things that I've learned now that I've grown up. I love this game with a passion and will make sure that there will be a modded open source version that'll have community voted balancing and updated models. Ronimo don't know it yet cause I haven't talked to them, but considering how much they love their ips and wear em like a badge of honor, I think a mod as a proof of concept can one day lead to a functional Awesomenauts: In Space Edition

Blame the Devs. They didnt update anything for the past 3-4 years and made the game free2play when nobody played it anymore.

Glad you emphasized that every character has an original theme song, istg I haven’t played in years but going out of my way to listen to some of them makes me so happy.

This should have been huge. Cartoon, action figures, board games……missed opportunities

The real tragedy with the game's current bot system is that it was far better in its prime and even after, back when the game still saw activity there was an engine the community used to make custom bots you could install into custom matches of the game. Since a lot of the bots were designed by veteran players, they knew what inputs to give them to have an overall good game sense on most if not all characters. Ronimo was so impressed by this, they would actually take the best designed bots and put them in the official game matches, and the players who made them got a badge to commemorate their service to the community. Now, the custom bots made are incompatible with the current version of the game, meaning most were removed and what bots we do have are less refined and inconsistent in their reaction time and pathing. Back when the engine was up and people made the bots, a Swiggins bot could go toe to toe with players in league 3, it was an impressive feat. I appreciate seeing videos like this still floating around for my favorite game of all time.

Great Review! I loved this game 10 Years ago and played it passionately. But the drop off of players just made it tough to find games. This game deserves more notice and a larger player base.

I played this game for a long time, very addictive. Eventually I left because I had enough of the matchmaking constantly putting me into second rank and matching me against the same top ranked players who keep exploiting bugs to obliterate my team. They should at least allow me to block 5 people to force them to stay out of my matches.... Im looking at you, SAM!... The forum was toxic, the devs just kept updating things in favor of top ranked individuals and I just had no use for all these points after buying ship upgrades while there were bunch of nauts with locked skills that I could only unlock by playing against higher ranked teams while my team is raging over why I dont pick a better naut, lol. I dont know how the game is now, but back over a year, expect to be cussed at every 5th game or have a troll wasting your time because he would just stand in the base and then you go right back to main menu waiting like, 7 minutes for the game to find a match, only to have it 40% of time restart the countdown.............. gg, I rather go play dont starve or A hat in time :D

I dont understand why they dont make mkre games like this. This game is an absolute blast and i still play on occasion to this date.

I played this on PS3 awhile back. The victory theme rlly put my mind in that time

I started playing nauts when it was released on ps3. I still remember Derpl and Coco being added as new characters lmao. Have 2000 hours+ on Steam, L1 every season, even top 20 once. Haven't played for quite some years now, but cool to see content being made about the game.

I started playing this game when it was released on 360, then moved to PC and enjoyed it for many years afterwards. I really can't say enough good things about it but the gameplay and personality are probably the biggest standouts. I stopped playing when Ronimo moved on to develop (and support) other games, which is when I think the player base started to fall off. Regardless. it will always have a big place in my heart. I might install it again and queue up just for old-time's sake.

I miss this game so much.

This is my favourite MOBA of all time, and an awesome (pun yaaas) game all around.

Played this game everyday after work when it released. Loved this game and I’ll still get on to play a couple games but man it fell off so fast. I’m not a big moba but this hit such a smooth spot for me, I got about 1000 hours on this.

I remember quitting the game for the long waiting times and the extremely toxic people Such a shame though, it's a great game with probably one of the best soundtracks of any game out there

And now the creator Ronimo is bankrupt and the servers are down forever. The game needs to connect to servers before the title screen so even single player is gone.

i remember playing a game it was Basically a block pixel game and it was at school, Basically all i remembered you had a chacther and there were different levels basically a black cat and probably a owl you could also place bombs in the game basically like a sandbox. I tried to search for this game for 1 year 💀

On pc there are not bot matches. They just take a while to queue up

The playerbase dropped off because the game was better before some of the updates. Regardless, still a great game and I really, really, miss the game as when it came out in 2012 i played the everliving shit out of it. Before the characters had ~1000hp. The game was so fresh, and all of the nauts were so clean to play and so enjoyable. Leon was my personal favorite at the point, until Genji came out. He quickly became my favorite. Might have to download it again.
