Do NOT use a drill as a pottery wheel!!!!! You will hurt yourself! Also, you have to bisque-fire before applying glaze! When mixing or adding clay you have to wedge and make sure anything hollow inside (like the donut or pumpkin DIY's they did) has a hole somewhere for air to escape. If you don't do either of these, whatever you make will explode in the kiln! This happens because the air inside (or air pockets in the case of not-wedged clay) heats up in the kiln. When air heats up, it expands. With no where to escape, it causes the ceramic to explode open. These are the basics!
