From June 7th, 2024. As promised here’s my other video from over in Belleville Illinois late Friday night. After waiting here at Route 159 and the old former IC train station for a bit over an hour the northbound CN local also symboled L548 comes past us here at 11:49 pm on its journey towards its final destination of East Saint Louis from centralia Illinois, DuQuoin Illinois on the CN St. Louis district here in downtown Belleville Illinois on this lovely late fun Friday night. This one was just as awesome as it had 2 beautiful Canadian National SD70’s numbers 1031 and 1030 on radial self steering trucks leading it both coupled back to back but with the same crew that was on the southbound CN local taking it back as the two trains swapped crews not far south of here at New Athens Illinois siding there. This CN northbound local job was also a short train with only about 20 cars in tow tonight. It was nice to actually see it pass through here at a more decent hour as it tends to be later some nights going north than normal. Only night you normally won’t see any trains on this CN St. Louis district is Saturday night unless you just happen to get lucky. Either way I knew I had to get this northbound CN local L548 on video too especially after seeing its southbound counterpart CN L548 go by here over an hour ago at 10:27 pm as was seen in my previous video. My buddy Scott Nauert stayed here with me at the Illinois Route 159 grade crossing for it as you can see him here in the video itself but my friend Robbie Welsh and his pals couldn’t stay as they had to leave for home after the southbound CN local seen earlier came thru here. Scott Nauert and I sure had fun together on this Friday night in early June. Sure was a lot better than me going out to Centralia Illinois but Amtrak 59 going southbound this night was rather boring to see from Chicago to New Orleans although Scott and I did make it back to downtown Saint Louis and Cerre street at gratiot to watch Amtrak train number 307 the southbound Lincoln service train arrive in there from Chicago since it was running a bit late.
