Thanks for the vid! I ordered one already and was doubting my purchase, but you reaffirmed my decision. I just wish I saw this first because I got the bit kit, not knowing it came w/ it. Oh well, it's good to have a back up. Ironically, I started looking into Leatherman because I heard the price of the Wave + was going up and wanted to get one at the old price. Then I saw this on their site and had to jump on it!

Thank you for the heads up this being discontinued. I just placed my order the G10 with the orange is probably one of the best looking Leatherman models. With the discount I could not pass it by. I still love my Gerber’s but I have been buying Leatherman’s now.

I couldn’t have said a MORE SPOT ON review myself. !!!!!! I’ve got one of these and I love it. Even though I don’t use it, I use my surge instead, it’s a lovely little tool, and you right in every way. The Charge series always has been the best Leatherman available in my estimation. My TTi is 13 years old and it’s pretty long in the tooth at this point. Pretty sad I won’t be able to replace it with the G10 version (which was my plan) when it finally gives up the ghost.

I own almost every model they have made in the last 10 years (barring the ones they came out with since they stole gear carry designs from maxpedition and tale of knives which led me to stop buying, carrying, and recommending their gear) and I can tell you from experience that their quality has fallen way off. My Victorinox Swiss Tool makes Leatherman products look like caveman tools

@@dualsportedc Yeah, that may be, but I'd never buy an expensive multitool with rivets. It's also much less robust than my Wave or Surge.

I like the looks of it, I might have bought one but I don't get Leatherman, it's not on sale on the Canadian Leatherman site and they want $242.95 CAD, I am not paying that.

I have the black charge+ with 154 cm steel and its better than any leatherman I've had...great grip and all the tools you are going to use on a regular basis... I don't really use the eye glass screw driver but I have use it on electronics because of the small screws and it did a great job also can use it for small poking jobs..

Naturally... been on my list for a while and just getting ready to buy.

A few Benchmades do the same flexing of the g-10. The Bailout and the Bug out for sure. I picked up the Orange G-10 Charge and am happy with it. Added a set of black blades and a black "termites" donk pocket clip. Looks great and will be a solid October carry. The S30v steel is pretty good, I also have that blade steel on my Spyderco Yojumbo and it performs well.

How about Griptilian 550-1 ? Do you have any experience with that particular model? I really like the design, shape and blade steel of this knife but I am concerned about whether the handles flex or not. Does anyone else have first-hand experience with Griptilian with g-10 handles?

as far as the Bailout is concerned: yes, it does flex when directly pushed together, BUT you wouldn't notice it under normal circumstances because you're normally applying force exactly perpendicular to that direction, it's also slimmer than a multitool so that the flexing is even more mitigated.

I Just got mine today. I had been looking to replace my worn out Gerber MP600, so far the G10 scales don't really bother me too much.

Darn, looks like these are all sold out (what a great deal!). But thanks for the heads-up… I need to follow the channel more closely!

I managed to get one from Sportsman's, but I did have to hit two different stores. I would have only had to do one store, but their evil website lied to me about the first one having it in stock... I'm fortunate enough to live in the area where the company is based. The toolset is NOT the same as the Wave+. There is only one difference though: the "serrated" blade on the Wave+ does NOT have the guthook/strap cutter/clamshell carver.

I have the Charge+ TTI and the s30v rocks, it is hardly to get dull. I suggest Leatherman can let us choose the main knife blade as an option.

Im horrible......I bought 3. $108 each is a steal. Going to dye 2 of them. Really enjoy your videos BTW, keep up the good work!

@@farmking5088Use Rit Dye synthetic “Graphite” color. Takes a while soaking it with the bright orange scales though. There are a lot of videos on YT showing how it’s done. Pretty simple, don’t even have to disassemble the tool.

Thanks for posting this. I was thinking about the Free P4 for a while, as I love my Free T4, but something seemed off about it. I bought and returned the Bolster in Xmas 2021, due to the spring in the pliers failing after only a few users. I was using my 20 year old Wave and felt I needed something similar. @@maxlvledc got my Charge G10 today! The blade sharpening from factory is kind of rough, but looking at your video again, it seems same as yours. I guess they are at least consistent in their factory. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still a sharp blade, but did you notice the sharpening is uneven across the blade. Seems odd as cheap Victorinox knives do not suffer from this. Lovely tool though. Huge leap forward from my first gen Wave (~1998-1999).

Hey great video I ended up taking your advice on the super tool 300m and used medical discount went down from $109 to $76. I’m glad I did they just raised the price on that tool to $129

Im of the opinion that the supertool 300 is the best. I love the classic mt ergonomics (having to deploy the pliers to get to everything else) and all of the beefy tools

So my thing is that I’ve been hella impressed by the sharpness of 420HC out of the box on Leatherman products. The internet is not helpful in articulating exactly why S30v may be more desirable. I may just have to purchase and learn for myself as usual 😅.

Hi, actually there isinformation at the website regarding what included (waht sheath, which bits and both pocket clip/detacheble ring), it just has no smart organisation. I would bought that right now - you could never have enough Charges, but it is not possible for the place I live in.

Sv30 good for cutting but chips easy. The cm154 is more chip resistant. I Have this exact leatherman in orange. I like it alot.

Glad I found your chanel ... nice videos with lots of useful information. Seems that big scissors always make you happy in a multitool ... have you already checked out the NexTool Flagship Pro ? Have not found it so far within your history ... still testing it but it made a mean first impression to me.

I have all of them...solid for sure.

I just got mine in today and I love it. I have some double sided bits that I added and a Olight Open Mini, to put on the side of the sheath. I also have a bit extender on the other side. It's bulky with everything in the sheath but I was shocked by how much I can fit in it. I can't wait to try it out.

I was also surprised by that flex with the darkside, it's a little unsettling on something I wanna squeeze so hard

I understand how things can sometimes be premium but not feel premium.

Charge Ti has been my EDC for like 5 years now, G10 is nice, but I prefer titanium scales.

I couldn't get used to the G10 on mine, so I put TTi scales on it pretty soon after getting it. I can see why they discontinued this. It feels like shit, it dirties up bad, it wears faster, etc. It makes for a pretty collection piece, but it's not for using.

G10 cleans very easily

If the tool is closed and you grip one arm in each hand and move the arms up and down in opposition to each other… do you find a little wiggle or play there? On my Surge there is zero play but on this tool it wiggles a bit… not sure if it’s a flaw or an intentional looser tolerance.

sorry, just trying to spread the news.

Mine just arrived today, after a UPS shipping error. Was really disappointed with the S30V blade. The grinds were sooooo bad. For a Leatherman $118 tool the quality control was awful. Considering sending it back.

I just got one and really like it. I also have three others including one titanium variant. I think from a standpoint of the grip on the tool, this one is a little bit better. I love G10, but I would have made the tool with a steel liner under the G10. I do not care about the tools weight. I carry tools on my belt that are a lot heavier than this one and in the holster, you cannot even tell it is on you! I think you probably have to be a little bit more careful about dropping this version as I think the G10 would break a bit easier than the steel on the standard or TI version. If Leatherman is discontinuing this because people think it is not as high end as the steel versions, they would also discontinue the red and black versions I would guess.

New to leatherman, Very interested... planing on getting the Charge+ .. I have a question though... How come some of the ones on sale dont have the "+" printing on the actual tool itself.. just on the box.. but some actually do have the "+" on the handle... is there copies/knockoffs outhere?..

Man I want one so bad. I just want onto hold it in hand and the weight. I wish they could get one even lighter but I'd have to hold it to see.

I wish the g10 was more grippy tho on this model. Would of been nice to have a jimping feel like the darkside has

I had one - and the tip of the file would scratch off G10 residue from the inside of the scale so that I always had G10 dust in the top 1/4” of my file. I don’t know if they all do that, but I consider the G10 Charge a failed experiment.

Mine touches a little I stuff and folded small piece of paper between the G10 and file and let it sit for 24 hrs seemed to help a little

How come this isn't clearance on the Canada site ??

Coming from Australia it is still full price $400 and no mention of being discontinued. This is exactly the same as they did with the Tread 🤬

Coming from the UK, where they're all sold out, not available on leatherman's UK site, and were selling at over 200GBP...it's a shame as I held back too long when they were cheaper. I really don't care about the S30V, 154CM is good enough and easy to sharpen, so I just got a cheap Charge+ and will do my own scales... I wonder if they're going to do a replacement or another limited edition?

154cm is more durable. Sv30 good for cutting but it'll chip easier

I had no idea the G10 was so much lighter than the Wave. I also didn't know they were completely discontinuing all g10 models. The weight is my primary issue since I EDC the Wave. I didn't know anything about it and would of snatched it up, but now I'll never afford one...

I found feel of the charge tti not really premium. Sharp edges here and there, the file scraped against the handles, stiff tools. Bought a Swisstool,that felt premium,still use it today.

I returned the tti for the orange charge. The tti i got was full of issues.

I said no more multitools but had to snatch this one up.

I bought 2 of these after seeing your first video on this sale. I only got the additional 10percent off on the second purchase though but I can't complain at all. I was going to buy the Roxon Phantom after seeing your video on that but thank God I didn't pull the trigger. That swappable blade looks really really nice - along with all the other blade options - but my guess is that a Leatherman engineer came up with that design and it was stolen by the Chinese. A lot of weird things have been happening at Leatherman the past 6 years. Maybe GOAT Tools is now the new version of Leatherman when Victorinox needed serious competition? I'm certain Sportsman's Warehouse got a lot of sales on the Charge because of your videos. Thanks.

I bought both after seeing the vids. The Roxon is cheap, so you might as well get it and the scissors are insane haha. The charge hasn’t come in yet for me, but I’ll no doubt work it in to the rotation. I do think that I’ll carry the roxon in my bag at all times as a back up and for a better pair of scissors.

I returned my Charge+ G10 Orange because the hidden lanyard hole kept popping out. Leatherman replaced it and it’s much better. The main blades and pliers are smoother to open. Quality may be hit or miss?

Max, I have a new multitool for you maybe to review. The brand is Klislee. And basically it is half of a Leatherman wave. No pliers, just sheepsfoot blade, serrated blade, saw, scissors, bottle and can opener. Also comes with a pocket clip. Somewhat reminiscent of the gerber armbar drive without the bits. Looks to be much better build than the Gerber. Two types of steel used, 440A/420. Thought you might find it interesting. 👍

Vapecell H10, but the best ones are made in Japan and are even more expensive. I forgot their name but they are Panasonic branded 14500

Can you swap the scales from the G10 model with the aluminum ones on the standard model? I know you would probably have to switch mounting screws also. I was wanting to put red or orange G10 scales on a standard charge plus in black oxide

You posted a video pre-Christmas regarding Costco’s sale pricing on the Leatherman Bolster (Thank You for that BTW) and now the Bolster doesn’t even appear on Costco’s own website….do you (anyone for that matter) know if the Bolster has been retired now as well?

Just picked one up at the sales price. Wish the Red G10 version was on sale. IMO Leatherman is clueless to offering upscale options (no pun intended) Most knife folks really like G10 scales. The premium blade steel and scales are a fantastic option and Leatherman is just not offering it. The scales can be strengthened if "flex" is an issue... Leather can do better and should. Also, where is the blacked out tools to accompany the Orange or Red variants. Marketing is sad as you note.

I think you mean rechargeable Nickle-Metal Hydride, otherwise your looking at 14500. The ikea Ladda are best value, then Panasonic eneloops..best quality

Imo, lumintop E05C (if you can find it). Reylight just came out with an aluminum version of their AA which will do all 3. But I think the Sofirn SP10 Pro is the winner still.

Being sold by a local shop for €210 .. it's a bit steep for me :(

The one that I received has the plier head with the weird crimpers I haven’t seen anyone else have this issue. Seeing as the box wasn’t sealed and there was scratches on the bits I believe someone just swapped the scales, so frustrating

They gonna be sold out in like 24hrs after this video! Honestly I think this tool got DCed cuz the titanium version allows them more charge but less warranty servicing from a big stats look. Definitely an accounting "pruning" type move. Reduce model "redundancy"of having multiple "premium versions" of an already offered tool. I'll take a deal all day and laugh at the logic of it, bought 2 of em. One for me one for the Pops.

Checked and pretty sure I was right, a day after and they're sold out of the charge G10 now. Crazy.

I got one earlier this week from Sportsman's Warehouse. The action on every tool, including the pliers and blade, was very, very stiff. And the blade was incredibly dull. On the paper test, it ripped the paper each time. It was hard to even start the cut. Even though the box was factory sealed, it had the feel of a multitool that had been used and poorly cared for, as if it was rusted even. It wasn't, but it had that feel. Has anyone else had this experience? Could I have received a defective one? I have one of the original Wave tools, before the went with the interchangeable bit systems, and the action is much smoother on it. Maybe I just need to break it in? But the dullness of the knife, with a premium steel, seems unacceptable to me. I wonder if Leatherman would at least be willing to replace the knife.

I got 2 and they are both very sharp and every thing feels smooth. One blade tip has a big burr on it, but other than that they are good. The packing was crappy though. Both boxes were just loose in a plastic bag. It was shipped UPS. I got it the next day and the boxes were in pretty good shape luckily. I already had one and I plan on putting these up for a while.

I did notice some oil around the pivot for the pliers that had some brown color in it, which I thought was really strange. Update: Yeah, they're sold out, as I suspected. Kind of a disappointment, but I don't see myself keeping this with the condition it arrived in, when others have had a good experience, so I guess it's a return for me.

I also got one from Sportsman's Warehouse. Pliers are stiff, but other tools are pretty smooth. The knife isn't the sharpest, but didn't rip paper. The file rubs on the G10 when closing unless you pull it towards the center of the tool. Overall, I'd give the quality of the one I received a solid B.

Not bad, but I don't like the color, I think it comes in other colors.

I knew it ! What a stupid decision ! 😩 The crushing incompetence of Leatherman to market themselves or engage with the community is killing the brand ☹️
