As mentioned above, this machine was purchased in order to prepare a Malaysian dessert called "Ais Kacang". Popular in Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Brunei, Thailand and many other Southeast Asian countries, ais kacang, which literally translates as ‘iced beans’, has evolved from a simple dish of shaved ice and red beans into a flamboyant dessert with chendol, jellies, nuts, syrups, fruits and even Musang King durian. This thirst-quenching dessert is also called ‘ABC’, an abbreviation of air batu campur, meaning ‘mixed ice’.
