Beautiful tanks. She definitely has an eye for aquatic design.
Almost like a gallery than a fish room tour. How beautiful those tanks are. Truly a inspiration, the natural, blackwater tanks are so unique and beautiful way to watch the fish act in a more natural environment. ❤💙♥️
This was great! Really enjoyed this tour.
Wow She is really talented with the aqua scaping. I would like to see her and MD aquatics from the UK haggle a tank together... You give something others can aspire to, thank you Ms. Holmes.

beautiful calm tanks!
This was such a treat! Thank you 😊
She’s awesome. The first take is my favorite. I think I will get some of those Congo Tetras! Very nice tanks!
wow she really knows how to work with wood. beautiful tanks
Something that keeps me from trying to aquascape too much in my tank is fear of fish waste collecting somewhere I can’t vacuum. I have a lot of respect for those to who can create a tank like this and maintain them.
Wow! Incredible! ❤
lookin' great, so much work ! Obviously a labor of love, thanks for the video

Melanie’s work is so incredible and inspiring- thanks for making this video happen! I also really appreciate seeing a “fish room” that is incorporated into the living space. I don’t have a basement, so I appreciate the inspiration on how to make a house into an aquarium gallery! ❤

She really has a great eye. Those Congo tetras are beautiful in that set up.
Sweet video! Never seen so many blackwater tanks done so well. Are those her actual birds chirping in the background? Or was it edited in? Lol😊

@@melanieholmes6596 when I got covid early in 2020, I had to drastically change my approach. The only tanks not impacted by my getting sick, were the ones I had set up to be self-sustaining ecosystems. Now, all my tanks are set up as such. It was wonderful seeing someone else with a similar approach, recognized as a master scaper. Thank you!!!!
Melanie, thanks for sharing your aquariums with us. I must admit they are very different from the aquariums of the past. I love all the natural wood and leaf litter. The low water flow is also interesting and understandable. Is the water stained a tannic brown color from the wood? Anyway, I just love what you have done. Thanks again!
@melanieholmes6596
Жыл бұрын
Yes, the water is definitely stained! That’s something I very much welcome and part of the beauty of these tanks! I replenish leaf litter and botanicals regularly to maintain the tannins!
Love her set up I will look for some dragon wood 😙

The black water tank in the bedroom. What is the ivy type plant growing out the back? I want that!
@PrimeTimeAquatics

I bet she would like to have a dwarf snakehead 😂
What kind of leaves does she use as leaf litter? I'm trying to introduce leaf litter into my tanks. Leaf recommendations also welcome.
@melanieholmes6596
Жыл бұрын
I use a combination of leaves to get a really natural feel but use a lot of Texas live oak leaves and small magnolia leaves in my scapes. The scale and size is perfect especially for smaller tanks but I use a wide variety including seed pods and other botanicals.
@melanieholmes6596
Жыл бұрын
The botanicals do need to be dry. I do boil them to release the initial tannin burst and because I want them to sink right away since I’m scaping and want to place them in specific areas but you could also soak them overnight or longer to achieve the same.

나랑 취향이 똑같네
They are nice, but her use of plants is very limited unfortunately in some of those setups. I would have like to have seen more use of native plants of the region she is emulating, but that is my only criticism. Asian water ways are full of all sorts of plants, they are not just branches and leaf litter. I have done many scapes like these over the years. I guess being in Australia we have been influenced by the original aquascaping from Asia longer. It's nice to see that style is finally leaking through to the US and being more common over there. And may I say that women are just at good at scaping as men. More woman need to be incouraged to try it.
Nice ones! 🙂
