Awesome review! This looks like just the thing I need when I build my first rig. One question though: I plan on combining these two with a Bash Pro H-Pattern. Based on your experience, would you be able to mount an H-Pattern on your rig with the AW TAU already on it and be comfortable using it (all on the right side)? Vielen Dank!

Great review! Sorry to bother you but you are the only one i can find with review on this shifter.. Im curious how does this shifter compare to SG Pro shifter? In terms of noise/quality and most importantly feel of shifting? I appreciate your answer, thanks!

The AW shifters feels much more "substantial" ... hard to describe, more of a "chonk" when shifting. It's also much louder and satisfying. That being said - I think the SG Racing is my favorite one because in situations where you have to shift really fast it's just ... faster?

Great piece of high quality kit with reasonable pricing. The only thing that could be a downside for people is the size. For me and my personal taste I think I will go for HE shifter purely because its compact and my rig accommodates fly sim stuff as well as my racing set up so not much room left on my simlab p1x rig 😭. So the coco cola can sized HE shifter wins for me

Can it be mounted backwards and feel the same? Judging by the gameplay it looks like the upshift is stiffer, but I can't really tell

My guess would be no. All tactile feedback will create noise in high-end shifters it's like unavoidable. Putting rubber dambers will numb the feeling unfortunately. There are some silent shifters but it's a compromise

  • @Leynad778

In WRC1 they are using the 'Kubica'-shifter these days, so using flappy pedals are more accurate to that and in WRC2 the sequential-shifter is far more close to the wheel. You can't even mount this monster that close while the HE Sequential did the trick for me. Sequential sticks are only used due to regulations to keep costs down. Otherwise they all would switch to flappy pedals instantly. In WRCG I'm using flappy pedals or h-shifter (without clutch) and with the new WRC-cars you need to keep the RPMs in such in a tiny window, it's a huge advantage using flappy pedals and since the competition online does it as well, using a stick is a handicap.

So your saying that there’s no point in getting a sequential shifter because rally drivers in real life don’t use one? Lol. You entirely miss the point of these products. Just get what you want, have fun, who cares what people use in real life.

I was using my HE Sequential for quite a while in DR2 and WRC10, but it was very close to my wheel like in WRC2-cars and just for fun. A smaller SQ-shifter seems also mandatory if you want to use an h-pattern shifter as well as a handbrake in close reach and there are far more cars in sim-racing with h-pattern gearbox than sequential stick. I guess that people using those large sequential-shifters also with h-pattern gearboxes (like in the video) because I can't see a solution adding an h-shifter in reasonable reach with a setup like that unless you can shift with both hands. For me h-pattern is more important than a sequential shifter also because it can be faster to shift in games like AMS2 and iRacing. I recently replaced the HE-shifter for my Xbox-Controller-holder to navigate through menus and control cameras. At the end there is limited space and so options to mount to your rig and if you buy this combination it's almost game over for some more fun (if steering with one hand is fun) at the cost of competitiveness.

@@bakedair1577 Yes and first this paddle-shifter was just allowed because of Kubica's parallelized arm, but than other driver saw the advantage and demanded equal rights. Keeping both hands to the wheel while shifting is a huge advantage and restrictive regulations are the only reason why stick-shifters are still a thing in Rally-racing.

@@Leynad778 sorry but this is not true, paddle shifter was used back in 2003 by subaru, same with skoda's ring shifter which utilizes two rings on the steering wheel. kubica crashed in 2011 but they were using paddle shifters long before that. not to mention that kubica's shifter was on the left side of the wheel.
