A psychiatrist told me that smell is the strongest memory. She said that's why we have such strong emotions about the smell of a certain thing cooking. Like the feeling of nostalgia when you smell apple pie baking and have memories of being a young child visiting Grandma. During my teens and early 20s, I volunteered at a retirement home, and a man whose wife of 68 years had passed away. He wore her signature fragrance. It was her scent, and it was like being able to still feel she was there. It was sweet and heartbreaking at the same time.

I’ve been wearing this since it first came out in the 70s…my Avon rep of 25 years insists it smells different on me and that it must mix with my body to make a different amazing scent…when I don’t see someone for a long time..I get a hug and people say u smell so good…

Aldehyde is found on vintage fragrances & makes them stronger. They don't make them like they used to! It sets them apart from the rest & makes them special. I just started using the Timeless deodorant to this after my evening shower and luke it's a comforting, warm fragrance. I just finished the Sweet Honesty deodorant. My favorite five from Avon are Mesmerize for him, Timeless, Candid (both were the body creams, got to try the sprays of those two), Night Magic, and Haiku. Wish Avon would bring back Mesmerize soap and shower gel. That stuff was heaven to shower with.

So I recently tried, Love Don't Be Shy, and it immediately made me think of some vintage perfume. I think it reminded me of an Avon fragrance that my mom wore. I wish I knew which one cause I can't afford LDBS.

Hi Bonnie, I recently learned about the term “aldehydes” and googled it. Apparently they are chemical compounds that are often used in perfumes to help enhance the scent (if I understood that correctly). This website says it helps give perfume a soapy, fresh smell. Haha, and speaking of Chanel No. 5, I watched another video of someone talking about Avon classic scents (she’s not an Avon rep, she just collects a lot of vintage perfume bottles, etc.), and she said that to her, Timeless is similar to Chanel No. 5. Another commenter in that video said that of Sweet Honesty is somewhat similar to Bath & Body Works Moonlight Path. Regardless, I can’t wait to get my perfumes (I ordered the whole collection of the classic scents, along with Imari and Far and Away...). So excited!
